The M18 FUEL 1/2 in. Compact Impact Wrench with Friction Ring is the Most Powerful tool in its class by delivering up to 220 ft./lbs. of torque in a compact design. REDLINK PLUS Intelligence is the most advanced electronic system on the market, preventing damage to the tool and battery caused by overloading or overheating. REDLITHIUM XC5.0(tm) Batteries deliver more work per charge and more work over the life of the pack than competitive batteries on the market. The 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL provides greater control over output speed and power for greater versatility by delivering 0 RPM to 900 RPM in Mode 1, 0 RPM to 1600 RPM in Mode 2 and 0 RPM to 2500 RPM in Mode 3. Auto Shut-Off Mode intelligently detects when the tool has impacted on a fastener for 1-second and automatically shuts the tool down, reducing the likelihood of overdriving and damaging materials.

The Milwaukee compact Impact Wrench gives you a lot of power in a compact package.You still get lots of torque but only 2.5 lbs of weight (without battery).A Drive Control allows you to adjust to 4 settings (1700RPM, 2000RPM, 2500RPM, and Auto-Stop).The Auto-Stop shuts down after one second of impact, preventing damage.(The description of Drive Control on the box is different (wrong?) than in the manual.)This model has the Friction Ring, which makes socket changes easier (automotive). If you are planning to have a dedicated Impact Wrench for one size of fastener (construction, industrial), then you might be better with the Pin Detent model. I found the Friction Ring easier to use, but you still have to work the sockets on and off (push hard).If you do a lot of impact fastening, then you are best to get a dedicated set of impact sockets that will hold up to the abuse. But for occasional use, I was able to use regular sockets with the Impact Wrench.I was removing and replacing Water Heater anode rods. They were frozen into the tank. With the Impact Wrench, it was a breeze to get them out; no more breaker bars, long pipes, hammers.This model is the Bare-Tool only. If you have a lot of Milwaukee power tools already, and only use an Impact Wrench on occasion, then the Bare-Tool will work. Otherwise, for most people, I think it best to get a kit that contains batteries, charger and case. There are kits with an Impact Wrench and second tool; that’s the best value.5 year warranty – great!

This isn’t my most frequently-used tool (in fact, before it arrived I wasn’t familiar with capabilities at all). However, now that I know what it’s capable of I’ve found that it’s really useful to have around. First time I used this we were trying to replace a boat lift at our summer cabin. The lift was probably installed in 1900 (I exaggerate, but it was old) and bolts to the deck were rusted beyond belief. Not a problem with this guy. Not two weeks later, I had family borrow it to: replace a tire on a giant ford truck and install a new trailer hitch for a cross-country move (worked flawlessly in each case).Good to know: This is the tool ONLY. So if you own other Milwaukee tools this may be a no brainer. If this is your first, suggest you get the battery-included version. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Simple to use, light weight and tons of power. The auto-shut off when it impacts makes sure you don’t overtorque bolts too much, but the speed and power of it make it a pleasure to work with. Compact too so easy to manuever in an engine bay. Comfortable in hand with no balance issues, coordless is very conveient, with the M18 compatible with my other Milwaukee tools. If you’re working with rusted bolts this is your tool.

This was ordered online and when it arrived, it was a bit bigger and heavier than I thought it would be, but this is a good thing. It means that this tool really does have power! The torque is very good on this tool and motor is powerful as well. This is great for all jobs, big and small. The battery life is quite long being an 18 V battery. I have always been impressed with the quality of Milwaukee products, and this one definitely did not let me know!
