For use with REDLITHIUM Compact Batteries or Extended Capacity Batteries (sold separately), which deliver more work per charge and more work over the life of the pack than competitive batteries on the market. The 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL provides greater control over output speed and power for greater versatility. Bought this driver by mistake because it was the only milwaukee 1/4″ driver in stock, never heard of the surge or what it was until it was in my hands, my boss said these are awesome and he was right! I absolutely love it, quiet and seems to have plenty of power, has no problem with a one inch wood bit going through floor joists. If I need more power I’ll use a bigger impact. I know the inch pounds rating is low but from what I’ve used it for, it has no problem doing what I need it to do. I repair and install fireplaces and also crop farm 700 acres and this tool does everything I expect it to. Very versatile! My coworker has a Bosch which is also a very good impact but it’s very loud and I like the ergonomics of the Milwaukee better, just has a better feel in my hands.

I was looking for a quiet impact for inside jobs or jobs with alot of impact use to save my hearing. It is super quiet, its an odd sound but works normal. It has just about the same power as my normal fuel 1/4″ impact but half the noise. It is also smoother operation than the other so it’s great for more delicate tasks.

What a tool! I was previously using a 15 year old dewalt brushed and was impressed with that one. This one though, I couldn’t even tell the hammer was hitting as its driving…I’m in love! Home Depot Canada has no deals on Milwaukee tools and it’s a shame as I’ve easily spent 1500 on their tools this year alone and would have benefited greatly, we’ll get the odd battery deal here and there but nothing compared to the states.Maybe Home Depot should look into this..maybe??

On a comparitive note, this impact driver is super quiet, thanks to the hydraulic drive. Performance is exactly same as the DeWalt XR, which is a little bit cheaper than this. Reportedly, the torque lasts longer because of the hydraulic drive; I haven’t used this for more than 2 hours at a time so far, so, really can’t tell. It’ll take a bit of time to get used to the quietness of the drive. The torque adjustment switch is a little bit more cumbersome than the DeWalt, the light is almost the same brightness.
