This is an excellent Heavy Duty grinder that works for all my grinding needs. I highly recommend it. I love the convenience of the cordless factor and power of the battery. I recently got this grinder and have used it for cutting and grinding. It is powerful enough for my toughest jobs. I have a couple of the Milwaukee brand battery powered tools that use the M18 batteries and they are powerful and last through my day.

This is a great tool. Easy to assemble, came with a battery and a charger. i used it on my little practice welding projects. So much easier to use than the traditional corded grinder. Allows you to move and use it without worrying about destroying the cord. It’s about the same weight as a traditional grinder in my opinion. Heavy duty, great quality, and the battery power lasted a long time. The grinder had the same power as a corded grinder. Great tool for those who work in tight spots, need the freedom to move, and short jobs where the need for electricity may be an issue. Come with a warranty and a nice carrying case to store tool when not in use.

It’s nice to finally get a cordless angle grinder that doesn’t suck. Milwaukee delivers well on this, however, it likely won’t replace your corded grinder. This kit comes with the grinder, two 18v Li-Ion batteries, an updated charger that will charge either M18 or M12 batteries (sadly not at the same time), and a nice hard shell case. The charger is a rapid charge so you’re getting 40% faster charges (according to manufacturer). The grinder itself is the same size as Milwaukee’s corded grinders, and it’s the same weight, however, when you plug the battery in you gain an extra 1.7lbs. This can add to fatigue on longer uses, but is a small price to pay for going cordless. The grinder comes with an adjustable wheel guard so you can use either 4.5″ or 5″ discs. Disc changes are easy and no additional tools are needed to do them. The brushless motor should result in an extended life of this tool, however, it maxes out at 8500 rpm (corded tools do 11000 rpm). This is where you realize it may not be the last grinder you need. 8500 RPM is good for most jobs, but that, coupled with some force while grinding can slow the wheel down further, so there may be times when you’re reaching for your corded grinder instead of this.Overall though, if you need the convenience of a cordless grinder, you can’t go wrong with this one.

This grinder works very well, it is kind of heavy but it well balanced, my 2 120v grinders weight about 4 lb 8 oz, this one with the battery weights 6 lb 11 oz. It has plenty of power even when I was really pushing hard, the battery will run 1 hour 15 minutes with no load and about 30 – 45 minutes if you are using it fairly hard. The charger will charge up a dead battery in about 1 hour 15 minutes. One of the complaints I have is that the charger make a nasty whistle when it is charging the battery, very annoying! This kit comes with 2 shields one for grinding and one for cutting, they are fairly easy to change. There is a little spring loaded thumb latch on the side of the shields that you push to replace or to turn to a different position, the spring on this latch is fairly hard to push, it should be a little easier to push, and in one of the positions it likes to pinch your finger, beware. The on – off switch is fairly easy to operate with one hand and does lock in the on position, if you are not wanting to lock it on it could be a little easier to hold. I believe Milwaukee also has a grinder with a paddle switch. The grinder has a spindle lock and the discs are easy to change, it would be nice to have a holder for the spanner wrench. The batteries have a push button that shows the state of charge. The state of charge also show when charging the battery, however the legend for the charger is on the opposite side from the indicator lamps on the battery so you can not see both at the same time. The charger also has a slot to charge the M12 batteries, I don’t know if you can charge both at the same time. The grinder also has 2 little air filters that are reusable, to keep debris out of the motor. The case is nice and sturdy but it could be a little more compact. All and all the grinder works well and feels good.

Milwaukee always seems to deliver! This cordless grinder is so convenient to use out in the field. Not having the cord really opens up door on where and when you can grind. I don’t notice any drop in power or performance compared to a traditional corded grinder. Battery life is strong as well. Love the tool free change over, its a nice feature. I have used this for grinding and surface prep jobs.

This is a very solid tool designed for a heavy duty use. Of course, the added value of this grinder lies in its cordless feature, hence the premium price. If you are on the go and regularly need a grinder for some serious job, this is the tool to go with. The batteries – such a leap forward within the past few years – will be compatible with other heavy duty Milwaukee tools (check out the hammer drills and nailers for instance.) It comes in a big box that looks very protective for the tool. Yes, it is a bit heavier and slower than a corded grinder, but this one is built to last and is super convenient to operate. How does it grind? Great, no complain, deliver expected power while offering great control. Highly recommend to any contractor.

The new M18 FUEL™ 4-1/2″ / 5″ Grinder is a great time saver…… No need to keep looking for a outlet to plug in a extension cord….. This is ideal for those quick jobs where dealing with a cord is a pain.I use a sanding flap wheel to sand off rust on my pickup truck bed, sand and smooth bondo on my truck.I have used this for general fabrication on different welding jobs I have done….Very nice little grinder feels good in the hands. It seems to have the same power as my corded 4 1/2 inch grinder. I don’t use a grinder a lot but when needed it usually is ready to go with a charged battery. This does it for me don’t think I will ever go back to corded if I don’t need to.

This is a great addition to the tool box. It is 18 volts with tons of power to sand and grind just about everything. Nice to take out in the field and use because you do not have to have a power cord. This grinder takes 4 1/2 or 5 inch grinding disks, and the safety guard has five different positions which is easy to change with the click of a button. This comes with two batteries and a dual charger, it charges both M18 and M12 with a heavy duty carry case.

I’m so spoiled by cordless tools that I find myself trying to avoid using most of my corded tools, and that extra bit of hassle pulling out extension cords makes me procrastinate with some projects. It is great to finally have a battery powered cordless grinder, and this Milwaukee grinder is very convenient. Today I finally took care of two grinder tasks that I’ve been putting off for months. I used the grinder with a diamond grinding cup to grind down the edge of a crack in the sidewalk in front of my house. I would have previously needed to pull out my 100′ extension cord to work all the way out at the sidewalk, but with the Milwaukee grinder, I just grabbed a battery off of the charger and got the job done in just a few minutes. The grinder had no issues chewing through the concrete, and it was perfectly controllable and easy to handle. In just a few minutes, it had removed quite a bit of concrete from the edge of the crack.I then switched to a metal cut off disc and cut up some old aluminum poles that needed to be thrown away. It cut through the aluminum like butter. So easy and convenient, and no power cord. The two 9.0Ah batteries are massive, both in capacity and in physical size. They dwarf the 5.0 Fuel batteries. They are a bit bulky and heavier than the smaller batteries, but with this grinder, the larger size actually works well, and the grinder is very balanced with the larger battery. The only odd thing is that because the battery is mounted at the end of the grinder handle at an angle, you can’t set the tool down upright on the battery like many other cordless tools. You have to lay the entire grinder down flat. Not a big deal, but I found myself repeatedly trying to stand the tool on the battery, then remember that I have to lay it down.I haven’t used the grinder enough to know how long the battery lasts, but after using it today for maybe 15-20 minutes, the battery was still virtually full–the battery was fully charged shortly after I put it back on the charger. So it seems like the 9.0Ah batteries have a ton of capacity, even with this high draw tool.I chose this lockable Slide Switch version of the grinder because I didn’t want to have to constantly hold a button or trigger while doing longer work like grinding concrete. The locking switch does meet my needs, but it is very stiff and takes some practice to push and lock the switch. This grinder does not have a speed adjustment like my Makita corded grinder, but I don’t think that will be an issue for me, as I rarely adjust the speed dials on my tools. This kit includes the grinder, charger, two 9.0Ah batteries, two metal disc guards, and an extra steel mesh air filter that wraps around the handle to cover the air vents and prevent debris from getting into the motor (a very nice touch). It may seem trivial, but I really like how the Milwaukee battery chargers can be wall mounted. I have mounted two of the chargers and it makes it really convenient to grab batteries and put them back on the charger when I’m done using them. I have had a few chargers that can’t be wall mounted, and it’s annoying when they take up precious space on a shelf or workbench.
