I just recently received my Milwaukee M18 7-9″ Brushless and Cordless Grinder Kit but have not put many hours on it. What I have done shows this grinder is just as strong as any corded grinder I’ve used and more versatile than any pneumatic. The main purpose of this is to build and maintain my and the son’s short track drifter. This not only will cut tubing but smooth welds. Yes we usually use a metal chop saw for the tubing but most angles need a touch to fit just right or some weird grinds and this makes getting those down to a breeze. Then welding them down and smoothing those welds where its necessary. All this with no hose or electrical cord to connect to, move or trip over.Plus having many Milwaukee M18 tools, needing a freshly charged battery is always on hand. You will have more trouble finding grinding, cut-off and polishing wheels for this than your 4 1/2″ models so I ordered some while waiting for the tool to arrive. I also ordered a masonry grinding head. I have a couple areas in some sidewalks that have lifted and cracked because of roots so know I’ll be able to grind down the peaks, open the cracks and pour in some liquid sealant. The new FIXTEC quick change locking flange nut save time swapping out discs. Of course this isn’t used on all occasions so you are given a spanner wrench to tighten for things say if you were to pit in a big wire wheel. It comes with the screw in side handle for safety as this can put out some torque. The only thing I can say is that the selection of large discs needs to improve so this can do everything you can do with a 4 1/2″ grinder while keeping the larger surface and cutting area. Big bonus to us people who pour concrete from time to time. This goes through re bar quick! No getting out the torch or killing yourself with the recip saw. Another great innovative tool from Milwaukee!

This is a great addition to my Milwaukee collection. It makes the big grinding jobs seem small. The tool will accept either a 7″ or a 9″ grinding wheel, not included with the kit. The guard has a spring loaded adjustment mechanism for quick and easy adjustments. It has a trigger guard so you don’t accidentally pull the trigger when you don’t want to. The 12 Ah M18 battery lasts a long time. Very nice!

I have several M18 Fuel tools and love them. So I figured this would be a good choice to grind the concrete floor of my basement before painting it. And in many ways, it was. The tool is well-balanced, and has plenty of power to do the job. My floor looks great (so great in fact, we decided to leave it unpainted).However….it burns through batteries like crazy. I have four batteries and two chargers, so I figured that would be enough to let me work a couple of hours at a time. Wrong. Using this unit (more or less) continuously, it’s important to not fully discharge the batteries, or they will overheat. Using a diamond cup wheel, a 5 amp-hour battery runs down to one bar in several minutes of (more or less) continuous use. Now I have to stop, take off my PPE (a must for concrete grinding), walk over to the charger, check to see if I need to swap anything into the chargers, and finally change the battery.By the time I run down the 4th battery, the first one will be just about recharged (if I make sure not to run it down too far). Net: I get about 30 minutes of actual grinding time before I have to stop.To summarize: Nice unit, but next time I buy corded for this type of application.

Amazing. I love the portability and POWER of this beast. Two things, one should note. No grinding wheel or blade is included. It is not variable speed. It is a very nicely designed tool, with plenty of power. I immediately order up a Cubitron blade for this, as I feel they are great blades, and really make a cordless grinder work much easier. However, with a standard metal grinding abrasive wheel, this still has plenty of power, and removed metal very well. You can also use masonry, and other grinding wheels, which have dished center. There is an adapter available separately to use flat blades. I think it should be included, since it’s complicated to find. These adapters are standard with many other grinders. There safety shield is adjustable and can be rotated and locked into place without tools. It’s locked position has some play, and does chatter a bit. However, grinding itself is noisy, so I can’t complain on this. Perhaps where is added clearance there for material to live, and still be able to be adjusted. What can be said about a 12AH battery. Wow. Charger is nice and solid. All of it. Very quality, and great tool to use. I recommend it.

“This thing is a monster”!! Those were the first words out of my husband’s mouth when he unpackaged this Milwaukee M18 FUEL 7 / 9 in Large Angle Grinder. It is a LARGE, heavy-duty, powerful angle grinder of contractor grade quality. Definitely made for big jobs. It even comes with a shoulder strap to help bear the weight. Most remarkable of all, it is cordless. It will run on any Milwaukee 18V battery. The 18 V battery supplied with this kit is big and heavy. . Unfortunately, this all inclusive kit did not come with any discs. Those ordering online need to be made aware of that. Lots of us can’t just run into town and visit the hardware store. The grinder was designed for 7-9” discs but can be used with a much smaller 4.5” disc. This is a Milwaukee product and that is where my confidence lies. We are satisfied owners of several Milwaukee products and do not hesitate to highly recommend all things Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee M18 Cordless Grinder comes in handy when AC power is not available or is inconvenient. The power is the equivalent of a 15 amp corded grinder so power is not a problem. It comes with a large 12Ah battery that will last with heavy usage. I own many of the Milwaukee products and they have given me no problems over a long period of time. They are made of high quality material and craftsmanship. Strongly recommend this tool for any of your grinding needs. Accepts both 7 and 9 inch wheels and they are very quick to change.

I haven’t used any of the other full sized battery powered girders out there but I can say with certainty, this one is a beast. The Grinder is well balanced, the grip is comfortable, and the quick change make a convenient tool even more convenient. The dust screen was easy to remove and clean. The trigger lock is easy to operate but still prevents accidental pulls. All and all its a good design.I ground about an 1inch off of a sidewalk slab and a 1/3inch off a second. It cruised maintaining a good speed even with a heavy wheel and a heavy load. For both lips I ended up using about a half a battery. The brake which wasn’t even advertised is great. It slowed a wheel in seconds that on my old grinder that would have spun dangerously for days.If you were in a shop all day with a cord this is probably a little pricey but for my needs and considering I wanted the battery, it’s perfect. I have to admit that right after I ordered it I though do I really need to spend the cash on this…? After taking it for a test spin the buyers remorse was obliterated as thoroughly as the cement I was grinding.

Use it to sharpen heavy duty mower blades so much better than old heavy corded hand grinder.

Grate looking tool but for my line of work it just didnt cut it I invested in the hd battery 250$ almost as much as the tool an all I got was 15 min of non stop light duty 7 in cup brush work . Weight factor was the same as or 1 lb heavier than an wired tool . Sry people this was just my experience

This is a large grinder for serious work. I have a smaller rat tail grinder (corded, of course) and this Milwaukee grinder makes that one look like a toy. It takes a 9″ grinding or cutting blade which can do a lot of work and can do it fairly fast. The grinder is large and uses a typical milwaukee battery. The battery does a good job of balancing the tool. It uses a typical Milwaukee charger, which has space for both an M18 battery and the smaller, triangular shaped M12 batteries. The lithium-ion battery charges fast and lasts a long time. It only comes with one battery, so you have to plan for that – either with a new battery or with the end of the day in mind. The guard adjusts easily with the push of a button on the edge. There is a lock on the trigger to prevent inadvertant use. The side handle screws into the body of the grinder, and it can be easily switched from one side to the other, depending on the user or the application. The bag is a little big, but it has plenty of space for additional blades and grinding discs, as well as “stuff” – gloves, glasses, other hand tools. I keep a complete set of jobsite extras in the bag, just because of the space available. I have a set of gloves, an extra tape measure, eye protection, a flashlight and a safety vest. There’s plenty of room for that and more.Overall, it’s a great tool with lots of power, made for large jobs / projects.

I used this with the cutting dust shroud to cut open a concrete slab for a basement rough-in. Being cordless I wasn’t sure how well it would do at this task but I was really surprised by the power the longevity of the 12.0 batteries. This thing is the real McCoy!

If you’re familiar with the Milwaukee M18 line of tools you know the quality they bring to the table. I have a number of them and they are consistently work horses. This one though I have to say steps up the game a notch. This think is a beast. These new batteries are awesome. This thing torques in your hand like a corded tool when you hit the switch. Take this and couple batteries and the rapid charger and you are likely to be needing rest before it does. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the safety mechanism on the switch but honestly it is pretty easy to operate as these things go. I’m just from the old school and I started using power tools when they all still had metal cases. (before the days of double insulation and the flood of safety features.) But safety features are a good thing even if they are frustrating at times. This thing will stand up to all the grinding and cutting you need just as well as a corded model without having to drag a cord around. It’s amazing how far battery driven tools have come and this one is a gem. This is the quality you expect from Milwaukee but on steroids. I’m just looking for more things to cut and grind on now. This thing is a blast to use.

This kit comes with M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 7/9 in. Grinder 2785-20 one REDLITHIUM High Output HD12.0 battery pack (48-11-1812), one M18/M12 multi-voltage rapid charger (48-59-1808), 9″ Type 27 Wheel Guard Assembly, (49-12-0020) one 5/8″-11 FIXTEC nut, (05-59-0015) one Type 27 Backing Flange, (43-34-0825) one spanner wrench (49-96-0002) one anti-vibration handle, and a large contractor bag with shoulder strap.Everything about this grinder seems super-sized. The 12.0 Ah battery, at 3lbs 5oz, weighs twice as much as my XC5.0 batteries, and is an inch longer and taller. The rapid charger charges M18 batteries 40% faster than my old M18 chargers. The assembled grinder with battery weighs a hair less than 12 lbs. It’s balanced for use with the 12Ah battery. The safety switch is part of the trigger assembly – just push forward to release the lock then pull up up to activate the trigger. It can all be done with one finger. The grinder runs at a fixed 6600 RPM and has a soft start feature. You’ll want to use hearing protection – I measured 97 dB sound level at arms length with the grinder running but not using it to grind anything. The FIXTEC nut used to fasten the grinding disc is new to me. It has a semicircular folding handle so the nut can be tightened or removed without tools. If a tighter connection is needed the included spanner fits two holes in the nut that are exposed when the handle on the nut is lifted.I really like the grinder guard. It installs and adjusts without tools. The guard can be rotated in 30 degree increments by pressing the release level and turning until it clicks into the next detent. This FUEL grinder lives up to the Milwaukee FUEL brushless reputation – tons of power and good battery life.

Holy crap this is an awesome tool! Lots of power and feels really good on one hand. That’s all I can really say. Look at the reviews from the professionals, this is Milwaukee’s best tool in the 18v category! Used it cutting through metal for a solid 20 min straight and battery was still on 3 bars (>75%) when I was done. Very easy to change disks. I’m not usually impressed with the performance of battery operated tools over corded, but this tool is great.
