The Milwaukee M18 FUEL String Trimmer with QUIK-LOK, designed for landscape maintenance professionals, provides users with the power to clear thick brush, reaches full throttle in under 1-second and delivers up to 1-hour of run-time per charge. The cordless string trimmer is made up of 2 components the M18 FUEL Power Head w/ QUIK-LOK and QUIK-LOK String Trimmer Attachment. This M18 FUEL Power Head, part of the QUIK-LOK Attachment System, is compatible with multiple attachments such as an Edger, Articulating Hedge Trimmer, and Pole Saw attachment. This gives users the ability to quickly swap out attachments on a single Power Head, delivering ultimate versatility and a lower cost of ownership. The POWERSTATE Brushless Motor delivers up to 6,200 RPM with up to a 16 cutting swath, and gives you the power to maintain speed in demanding applications without bogging down. The motor is positioned in the rear of the trimmer to provide the best combination of power, balance, and maneuverability. REDLINK PLUS intelligence ensures maximum performance while protecting from overload, overheating and over discharge. The Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM XC 5.0 Ah Battery Pack delivers up to 2.5X more runtime, 20% more power and 2X more recharges than standard lithium-ion batteries. I bought the trimmer (and chainsaw, and pole saw) to make my outdoor work more convenient and easier. The trimmer worked great even in a hard test of trimming high grass and growth around the shoreline of my pond. It had plenty of power to do the thick grasses. It was nice to be able to take small breaks and then just pick up the trimmer and get right back to work without cranking up and re-fueling a contrary gas trimmer. Just press the triggers and you’re on your way! I have the 12 amp battery and there was plenty of power to do the whole job (approx 45-60 minutes) without re-charging. Now that trimming is so convenient with battery power, I trim more often and the property looks better for it.

Great build quality, as expected from a Milwaukee tool. Tool-less disconnect between handle and tool. Very positive lock. I used it with the Pole Saw. Extensions interface flawlessly. Used 3 extensions together, so I could trim some high branches, and stay firmly on the ground.This replaced a Ryobi Pole Saw, which worked but had way too many plastic parts and felt like a toy.

In my experience the performance of Milwaukee batteries matches or exceeds most other brands. Compared to other brands I like these batteries because of the rubber bottoms that dont slide around. The locking/release mechanism is also very robust. The charge level meter is also nice to have for checking battery status.
