The M18 FUEL String Trimmer with QUIK-LOK has the power to clear thick brush, reaches full throttle in under 1-second and features a balanced design which increases user control. The String Trimmer is made up of 2 components the M18 FUEL Power Head and QUIK-LOK String Trimmer Attachment. Part of the QUIK-LOK Attachment System, the Power Head is compatible with multiple attachments such as an Edger, a Hedge Trimmer and a Pole Saw. The ability to quickly swap out attachments on a single Power Head delivers ultimate versatility and a lower cost of ownership. Designed to meet the needs of professional landscape maintenance, the POWERSTATE Brushless Motor is positioned in the rear of the trimmer to provide the best combination of power, balance and maneuverability. The motor delivers up to 6,200 RPM with up to a 16 in. cutting swath and has the power to maintain its speed in demanding applications without bogging down. The REDLINK PLUS intelligence ensures maximum performance and protection from overload, overheating and over discharge. The advanced electronic package also delivers instantaneous throttle response, high and low speeds and a variable speed trigger for ultimate control over the power range. The Easy Load Trimmer Head delivers an easy line loading experience and allows users to load up to 25 ft. of trimmer line in under 30-seconds. Includes M18 FUEL 8 in. I bought the edger along with both the trimmer the hedge trimmer and the blower. I put the edger to work on my front sidewalk which has not be edged in 22 years of living here. I used its highest setting so as to do the job but not be “digging a trench”. The set of tools purchased came with a charger and 3 batteries; 2-5 amp h and 1-8 amp h. Even the 5 lasted long enough to do both sides of about 30’ of a 165’ walk. Am over the moon with the power, light weight and adjustability for depth of blade. Only thing I added from the beginning was the shoulder strap for use with either the trimmer or edger that has been more than worth it. The combination of batteries and quick charger has been very sufficient for all time required for task so far.

The edger worked great, but the drive motor would only last about 30 ft. before quitting, apparently due to overheating. Even with a fresh battery, once it quit it would only go another few seconds before quitting again unless it had rested several hours to a full day. Very annoying when trying to install an invisible dog fence wire.

The kit says it comes with a rapid charger, I got a standard charger. I like the string trimmer but the rapid charger is misleading. Will HD swap chargers? Considering returning, the standard charger takes a long time charging an 8 amp battery.

Great build quality, as expected from a Milwaukee tool. Tool-less disconnect between handle and tool. Very positive lock. I used it with the Pole Saw. Extensions interface flawlessly. Used 3 extensions together, so I could trim some high branches, and stay firmly on the ground.This replaced a Ryobi Pole Saw, which worked but had way too many plastic parts and felt like a toy.
