COMPACT; POWERFUL; SMART — The Milwaukee M18 FUEL ONE-KEY 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1/4 in. Hex Impact Driver Kit with(2) 5.0Ah Batteries, Hard Case has many positive features. The driver is only 4.59 inches in length vs. 7 3/8 inches of my previous driver. The shorter length makes some impossible tasks possible. It has four torque positions. With the highest torque of 2,000 in-lbs, I could drive screws into Southern Yellow Pine without drilling a pilot hole. What I have found most useful has been the ability to quickly drive concrete screws into concrete or grout when a hole has previously been drilled. I stripped several screws when learning how to use this driver. I discovered that the bit needed to be the correct size, some pressure needed to be applied at the back of the driver, a light touch is needed for the trigger, and the driver should be parallel to the screw. It is a fun tool once you master its use. The kit comes with two powerful M18 batteries and a charger so one should not run out of power for the driver during a day’s usage. The hardback case stores the driver, batteries, charger, and instructions. It has the One-key smart feature. I was most impressed with its ability to locate the driver and to remotely lock it. Those are great theft prevention measures. With my previous driver, I could insert and remove bits with one hand. With the Milwaukee driver, I can only insert the bits with one hand. It would have been helpful if the case contained a compartment for bits. As it stands, one bit may be stored in the drill and another on the base. The mechanism for changing the torque could be made easier to use.

Milwaukee has a well-deserved reputation for making serious tools, and this impact driver kit is no exception. The tool arrived well-packed without damage in a permanent, very sturdy carry and storage box. There are 2 batteries supplied, along with a charger, which is typical for complete kits, but I was surprised to find that both batteries were high-capacity 5 amp-hour rated. I would expect a batteries like these to cost at least $100 each if purchased separately. Most drill/drivers are supplied with batteries with a capacity of only 1.5 to 2.5 amp-hrs. Unfortunately they are a bit heavy, at least for this user.. In use, each battery seems to last nearly forever. The batteries are back-compatible with other Milwaukee M18 tools, which is a significant plus for this user. The driver uses a brushless DC motor, so it is both compact and powerful. All of the controls come readily to hand and the drill is smooth and well balanced in your hand. A quality feel. One feature that I did not test, and I am unsure how useful it is for most users, is the “One Key” software, which can be used to locate the tool across the room or across town. For me, this was an unnecessary feature, but for the pro who moves from job to job and is concerned about accidentally leaving a tool at another job site, this could prove very valuable.

I received my M18 FUEL ONE-KEY 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1/4″ Hex Impact Driver Kit with(2) 5.0Ah Batteries, Hard Case. First of all I would like to say Milwaukee tools are made with some very good quality. This 1/4 inch impact driver has a lot of torque. It fits in my hand perfectly. The storage case is very nice for storing the batteries, impact driver & charger. It sure will make some of my projects easier to do. I’m sure anyone would be proud to own this tool.

This is the most replete kit yet for a 1/4-inch impact driver. The catalog # 48-59-1812 charger is the latest in smart charging technology with complete function indicator light menu. (Also charges compact batteries such as used in heated gear.) Two catalog # 48-11-1820 2.0 Ampere-hour battery packs get you well on your way to being productive. Those lightweight batteries yield readily to 5.0 Ampere-hour and larger battery packs for extended run time. The heart of the system is the model 2857-20 driver. Generally it appears to be based on the model 2653-20 (with the same great controls and excellent ergonomics) but with significant increases of no-load speed from 2900 to 3600 RPM and blow count from 3600 to 4300 IPM. Opposite the ambidextrous belt clip, one can affix a bit holder. In addition, the tool accepts a lanyard. Even more impressive is the addition of One Key features. At first glance I thought this only was for contractors with huge tool fleets seeking to control their inventory. However, I learned that One Key has desirable features for however many tools you own. Firstly, it can pre-program your tool. Like changing the duration of the work light illumination; or designating what mode the tool starts in. That’s most useful for lending a tool to a technician for a specific task. It also simplifies the use of two or more tools to complete steps as one used to with accessories like uni-bits (and all the clutch setting fumbling in-between). The One Key application can reposit purchase information and date-in-service to establish service / preventive maintenance intervals and determine warranty coverage. The tool also can be locked (as a theft deterrent). The tool can be made to blink when seeking to locate it within a tool horde or among many in, say, a gang box. There actually is a GPS-like function which could differentiate where a tool was between my house, garage, truck, shop and outbuilding. So, with that degree of resolution, I am confident one can locate and retrieve a tool among various gang boxes on a construction site. (It likewise will alert me to retrieve borrowed tools from my son’s house!) All this is packed in a nifty blow molded case which sets up nicely on a bench or ledge as a charging station. The new polymer is tougher and supports more functional closure clamps and a sturdier handle. There is a space for everything, including a literature slot. In summary, it’s a lot of power and features in a terrific package.

When you buy these battery operated tools you have to commit to a brand because you don’t want 5 different battery brands and their charges cluttering up your work flow. I felt the legendary status of Milwaukee’s corded tools like the Sawzall, Hole hog, etc., suggest this was a company who wanted to protect their reputation and wouldn’t suddenly sellout and start making junk. 10 or 12 years ago I bought a similar version of this tool, Milwaukee’s top of the line brushless impact driver and used to install 2 large metal roofs. The guys who helped me had their own impact drivers but wanted to used my Milwaukee. Since then, it’s versatility made it the most important tool in my tool box. I’ve remodeled my house and built huge patio cover with it – including framing, electrical and plumbing. Between the metal roofs, house remodel and large wood patio cover, I believe my Milwaukee impact has driven well over 15,000 screws, nuts and bolts. That doesn’t include all the large and small holes I’ve drilled with it for electrical and plumbing. I use it work on my cars and anything else. There isn’t a week gone by that I haven’t found a use for this tool.My old one works like it just came out of the box except the forward/reverse switch. I can’t remember how many times I’ve drop this tool, but the last time was pretty high and must have knocked something loose. The switch works right most of the time but every once in a while I have to tap the tool against a hard object, then it’s business as usual. I could have it fixed but I wanted to try out this new one with more features and a boatload more torque.Wow! It hasn’t disappointed at all. What a fantastic piece of equipment. I have a top brand air impact driver but seldom use it anymore. The good thing is Milwaukee didn’t “fix” any of the already great features of the old one, like its handling and durability. I can already tell this new impact driver will live up to my old Milwaukee impact driver’s reputation, and then some.Thank you Milwaukee and keep making fantastic tools and equipment.

Like the title says, f!cking awesome. The torque on this thing is astronomical, drives fasteners like nobody’s business. you actually have to hold it back so you don’t push it too far in; which is quite easy to do. The one-key is a technological and mechanical revelation, you can set it to whatever you want so you can set it on a lower torque or rpm level so you don’t destroy what you’re trying to screw together. Took the lugnuts off my car like they weren’t even fastened to begin with. There’s not another impact like this one on the planet

Wow, this tool is amazingly high tech! It has Bluetooth on board, so you pair it with your phone or other device and then register and activate the tool. That is a security feature, because then you can lock the tool if it’s stolen and make it unusable. If you just misplace it, then you can look online for the last known location, and you can sound an alert on the tool. You can also use the Bluetooth to customize the tool. It comes with four preset modes for speed: 0-1900, 0-2400, 0-3050, 0-3600, but online you can set up profiles for different speed ranges. Those Bluetooth features are part of the “One-Key functionality,” and all that is on top of this being a really great impact driver. I already had an impact driver of another brand, but I was pretty disappointed with it. I had used the old one last year when we built a carport, but I still had to drill pilot holes and use maximum effort to place the screws because I don’t have much upper body strength (female, senior citizen), and the whole point of using an impact driver was so that I wouldn’t have to do that. The first thing I did when I got this awesome Milwaukee impact driver was to get one of the leftover 2 x 4 blocks and put a 3 inch screw in the 4 inch direction. No pilot hole! I used only one hand and minimal effort on mode 1, instead of both hands and leaning my full body weight in. Man, I wish I had had this sooner. I also really like not having to tighten and loosen the chuck to change driver bits. Instead, pulling out the ring on the chuck to slide the bit in or out is a lot easier and faster, and more secure. Also, this impact driver is “stubbier” than my old one, so it fits in fighter spaces. I like the battery release design on this one much better, too. The “pinch” release is only about 2 inches wide and not stiff, which my arthritic hands can easily handle. This is now one of my favorite tools. I’m very impressed with the quality of this and my other Milwaukee tools.

This new cordless Impact Driver tool from Milwaukee is by far one of the best tools I’ve had the pleasure of using in many years. Absolutely does the job that it is intended for, and was light enough even for my own use. The Impact Driver came with two battery packs and a multi-use charger. I even charged my flashlight battery along with the driver’s batteries. The added ONE-Key feature to lock and protect your investment is a great feature. Just knowing that you can track your tools, and lock them remotely is worth the price of this unit. My son got to try it out and is totally impressed with the quality and detail to attention that Milwaukee tools provide. We were able to select between all four custom drive modes as we were testing it out. The added LED light is exactly what is needed in many tight places. It goes out in 5-10 seconds after the power is terminated. I can certainly attest to the true quality of the Milwaukee products as the best available, in my opinion. Great product to be considered by all interested Home Depot buyers.
