I was reluctant to spend the cash to get into another battery platform (haven’t had any M18 tools previously), but so far am very pleased. While the weight of the gun with the 5aH battery is on the hefty side, the runtime is nothing to be trifled with. The auto-start mode is great – lock the trigger on and the motor does not run until pressure is applied to the tip. With the auto-start engaged and the trigger on, the light stays on, making it great for working real-world dimly lit remodel projects. The motor spins fast and has plenty of torque to drive screws as fast as you can push them. The high capacity battery has plenty of juice to run all day (at least with my use). I’ve run a couple thousand screws through the collated attachment now with 3 jams that could be attributed to user error. Strips are easy to feed and depth of drive is a simple adjustment and relatively consistent. The standard cone tip works well too, with highly consistent drive depth and good tool balance.

Great product. To activate the auto drive function(so that you do not have to continuously squeeze the trigger, first push the button near the LED, then squeeze the trigger and slide up the lock directly under the trigger to lock it in place. Now you can release the trigger and whenever you push a screw it will turn on automatically. This runs very quietly, to me. I used this to drive 1-1/4″ and 1-5/8″ drywall screws(Coarse) and it worked fine. This drove the screws almost instantly. The LED stays on all the time, so remove the battery when not in use to save the battery. Removing the Nose cone to replace the bit is easy, just pull it up. Adjusting the depth is simple enough too, twist to the right to drive it deeper and twist to the left to not drive it as deep.

This is by far the best drywall drill I ever used in my forty years of experience. Light weight and very quiet. The convenience of these tools being cordless is an exceptional feature that keeps the job site safe and free of multiple power cords. While working with these tools I can keep both the cut out tool and the drywall drill tool clipped to my tool belt for easy access.
