I’ve been boring 7/8″ holes through 5.5″ beams with this because I needed straight, plumb holes that I couldn’t get with a hand held, or with any conventional drill press. It’s a beast! The motor is torquey enough to plow right through (you do need to back it out to clear out the bit of course), and the spindle has ZERO runout, which is more than I can say for my dedicated woodworking drill press, which you would think would be more precise. (Runout is the amount of off-center wobble.)I haven’t been using the electromagnet, but did for a while and just don’t get your fingers between the magnet and any metal if you like having 10 digits, that’s all I have to say. I tend to favor Milwaukee for tools that spin, and this one has been as great as any of the rest in my shop.
