The Milwaukee 1-5/8 in. Electromagnetic Drill delivers the faster set-up, cutting and drilling. It is 13 Amp motor delivers the fastest drilling with annular cutters or twist drill bits. Equipped with a 2-speed gear box the tool can be adjusted tool-free between annular cutters at 475 RPM and twist drill bits at 730 RPM.

We do a lot of work on stainless steel tanks so we clamp a 1/4″ steel plate over the SS and use the mag drill to knock out the work. We found the a 3rd party mag drill stand to use with it as well. Always in use in the shop for bracket fabrication.

I do a bit of welding, so I have a good, sturdy steel work bench this drill works perfectly on. to set it up requires nothing more than to plug it in and adjust for depth. The carrying case makes it easy to store and transport. I mounted a solid steel plate on my truck and can now, with the help of a small gas generator, I can use it anywhere the work is. This makes it one of my most versatile power tools and although I do have cordless drills, there are times they just aren’t up to the job, for power or accuracy

This is great for drilling upright items…like frame rails. I researched to find the difference in the part numbers and prices. I compared two identical products, one number difference in part number and $500 difference in price. Item description was identical including the ability to release the magnetic pressure to re-position the drill. This drill, does not have that feature and although it works great and we have been able to get it in the correct position, the ability to reduce the magnetic hold would have made it easier. I also purchased an additional chuck that will accommodate a 5/8 bit. Definitely makes those hard tasks easier!

It’s easy to use with small annular cutters that fit right into the quick release holder. It has a strong magnet that’ll hold even when only making partial contact with the surface. The variable speed is max or min nothing in between and hard to tell when the switch is made from one to the other. The toughest con to deal with is the location of the on/off switch. In tight situations you either don’t have enough room to turn the drill on or you’re too close to leave it on.

Comes packaged in a sturdy blow molded plastic case. Cleverly packaged with room for accessories and bits.Controls are easy and convenient to use.Magnetic base attaches firmly to the work area. The drill is light enough to be place at any angle by the average guy.The magnetic base holds well throughout the drilling process.The drill motor has enough torque to drill even large holes in minimal time. Drilling 1 inch holes through 3/8 steel plate was no problem.Overall impressive performance. Would buy it again.

It makes holes in stuff really easy. I’ve been told it is a nice color red, but I’m color-blind, so I’ll just have to take their word for it. Its more compact than their older ones, so that’s nice, so long as the magnet works better! Geeese Louise…..Those older ones had magnets that wouldn’t hold much of anything. The little squirt bottle is handy, just put oil in it to spray it back out. Anyway…….I got friends coming over, so I gotta run……….Have a good one…

Although I have not used that much yet it cuts though steel like butter. I have a 10 amp hand drill that hung up when I was drill 3/8″ steel and the handle came around so fast that I thought it may have crack some bones in my wrist. This is expensive but much cheaper than the doctor. Very pleased.
