It is very nice not to have concrete dust in my face.

good for long bits but for standered sized bits (5 to 6in) like you would use mostly doesn’t work at all , infact makes it a lot more difficult then just cleaning up the dust.

I wish I would have started using one of these a while ago, but it’s still not too late for my health if I take care of myself. The clear plastic is just the right thickness, not too thin to rip yet flexible enough not to hinder the spring action. It sure helps that it’s see-through, assuring you make the straightest holes. The maximum length you can drill with this shroud on is approximately 5-5/8″ deep. For the sake of your health and of those around you, this is undoubtedly a great investment. You can keep the dust cover on and it will catch all the debris at the bottom (if overhead drilling), as it has a slight angle to it. You can technically use any 1-1/2″ inner diameter vacuum hose, though I recommend a shop vacuum, since they’re rated for fine dust particles and will not junk up the motor. Of course, you can always wear a mask of TOP of using this shroud, and that will bump you another OSHA level up (in case L&I comes around, perhaps). There is a somewhat stretchable rubber line to secure to your drill as well, making one-handed operation realistic.

First off, the plastic material is a little cheesy and flimsy but, overall very easy to install on to rotor hammer, blocks 99% of dust/ debris. Can hook up to a vacuum or use it as a self contained dust catcher. Definitely would buy again. Lasted me roughly 450-500 holes drilled.

I think this is the cheapest way to comply with OSHA’s new silica dust containment regulations. Specialty vacuums cost several hundred dollars. This shroud costs about $20, is a universal fit for any SDS drill, and has a vacuum port on it so you can attach a vacuum to contain the dust even more. I wish Home Depot sold the replacement plastic shroud so when its damaged or needs replacement you could go to the store and pick up new shrouds, I can’t at least in my area. It will work with bits up to 8″ in length, and will collapse for easy storage.

Received this dust shroud to use with my Hilti SDS plus drill. The first thing I noticed is that the plastic covering is not durable at all. I can imagine it being getting holes and torn apart fairly easy. The twist lock feature of the item is hard to use and doesn’t feature a smooth action for taking apart to dispose of the dust and debris. The idea of this is a good but with the silica dust requirements taking effect there are better options if you’re willing to invest in a proper set up. For small jobs or on the fly it should do the trick just be careful.

So this is THE thing you need when roto hammering into concrete over your head! Anyone that has had to drill holes above knows how miserable it can be! This drilling shroud solves a real problem! And the fact that you can hook a vacuum to it is a bonus! It works flawlessly at catching dust, and keeps the majority from falling on your face. Also note that I used it with a bosch rotohammer, and it fit just fine!

This is great! I hated taking the plastic bags and taping them to the wall when I drill to catch half the dust. This dust trap has a universal rubber band to hold it on. In you picture you see my Porter Cable cordless drill with this on. It isn’t going to stay perfectly aligned while NOT in use, so you hold it with one hand and the drill with the other until you have it touching the wall. Then it’ll stay in place and aligned. Makes it easy to drill holes and not have a bunch of dust everywhere after. I did not try the vacuum port. Didn’t need to. If you are drilling 50 holes, sure. But for hanging a picture I use it for one or two holes.Yes, the metal ring does make contact with the drill chuck. But again, that’s not an issue for doing a handful of holes. If you are doing 50 holes at a time you probably have to think about that or make sure you have an SDS drill. I’m using a different brand so it fits differently. but it’s smooth metal vs smooth metal, so it is not a big deal.I really like this dust trap!

When I started in the plumbing trade I was always told you gotta be tough. Don’t worry about ear plugs, glasses, gloves, and a little concrete dust never hurt anybody. Those were all lies. After decades of following the “be tough” model, I’ve seen the dangers of not protecting myself. Thankfully there is now quality equipment like this drilling shroud that is made to make your job easier and cleaner and much much safer. Follow the instructions, use it as directed and there will be less dust in the air, less dust on the job, and less dust in your lungs. I see this as one of the best “tools” on the market.

Great for catching your dust when drilling in places you need to keep clean. It isn’t bulky or overly complicated, just how I like my tools and women. Five stars for everyone.

The plug keeps vibrating out so the dust still comes out on you. It definitely helps with the amount of spray into your face but that is about it. A bit of duct tape should help to keep it in place. Other then that it works as expected.

I was drilling concrete anchors for a rack in my garage. The dust shroud held most of the concrete dust in the clear chamber, it saved me a lot of clean up and it was much safer to use although I still wore a mask. The only issue I had was that the unit spun due to the fact that my drill has a rubber chuck. I saw where someone else added a metal flat washer into the housing and this solved the problem. I also liked the ability to collapse it when not in use. My only concern is the strain on the rubber retention strap, not sure how long that will hold up.

The concept is great and I only wish that I had the hammer drill to use with this. It will only work with the industrial tool. They need to make this for other models such the regular hammerdrills that most of us have. It was well made and will serve you well drilling up vertically to collect dust and particles that fall into your eyes or the floor.
