The MILWAUKEE Compact Router Plunge Base expands the versatility of the Milwaukee M18 FUEL Compact Router. The plunge base allows users to perform smooth plunges at precise depths with a comfortable spring lever and accurate depth stops. The trim router plunge base has a 6 step depth turret at 1/8″ increments and a micro-adjustment on the depth rod, enabling users to make simple and accurate adjustments for repeatable cuts. A cam lock securely holds the tool while making it easy for users to switch out bases. The plunge base plate features 2″ of plunge depth and is compatible with the M18 FUEL Compact Router 5-3/4″ template guide base.

I’ve been using the M18 trim router for a few weeks on various projects and came across a need for plunge routing, so I ordered this base and when it arrived I was using it in no time. It’s very well built, smooth, and has a dust collection attachment that works fairly well with a small vacuum. I do wish the micro adjustment on the router was usable with this base but since I’m not doing any super fine work with hit I can work around that little quirk.

Probably would really only give 3.5 stars but 4 is a round number. There is nothing wrong with this plunge base, but having used both the fixed base and the plunge, the fixed base works just fine for plunging if you are not going more than 3/16” which you should probably not do anyway. The plunge base is a little bigger and wider which can be both good and bad depending on your application. I personally prefer the compact control the fixed base that comes with the fuel router better for most applications. Again, it’s not that this is bad but I just don’t think it’s great either and it is expensive.

Solid construction great quality. My only critiques would be the fit. It’s extremely tight. Removing the router is difficult. Lastly, the plunge lever is a bit stiff when activating which I’m guessing will loosen up over time.

Well constructed and fit and finish are good. Even comes with dust collector attachment. Only wish it would have fine height adjustment after lock to make height adjustments easier
