I used this auger bit today on a deck I’m building. I was drilling through three 2×12’s and a 4×4 post to install 5/8″ carriage bolts. It cut through like butter and expelled all the shavings as it progressed. I didn’t hit any nails, so I can’t comment on it’s ability (as advertised) to deal with such, but it sure went through wet pressure treated lumber with ease. I got this drill to replace augers made by Bosch that I also purchased at Home Depot. A word of caution, the Bosch augers are so aggressive that they bore too deep too quickly and end up binding. In my case it caused the bit to stop and swung the body of the drill around nearly breaking my hand. I’m not a little guy and was using both handles on the 1/2 drill, still, I just couldn’t stop it. The Bosch augers are dangerous and I threw both of mine in the trash. This Milwaukee auger worked like a dream.

Have drilled about 10 holes through old hard core wood and so far it is holding up great… Tried a store brand and it was full after 1 hole wasted 8 bucks… Stick with a brand name and you won’t waste money or time like I did
