This Bit was perfect for drilling holes in Railroad Ties, while replacing several rotted Ties in an existing Tie Wall. Prior to buying this bit, I burned up 2 spade bits. I used this for drilling holes in my landscape timbers to drive rebar into. It’s a smooth cutting bit. It has some flex to it so be sure you are going the direction you want at the start because you can not force it. Overall it is a fast cut. The flutes do a great job of clearing the hole.

This is a great bit. I bought it for a job that required us to bore through red oak 4 x 4’s stacked on top of red oak 4 x 6’s so we could bolt them together. We drilled 48 holes back to back through 7 inches of red oak and this bit handled it like a champ. I was really impressed with the performance, I’ll definitely use these bits in the future.

Milwaukee has a great bit here. I drilled three 9/16″ holes for 1/2″ galvanized bolts in a 12″ diameter treated southern yellow pine pile under my house in less than 2 minutes with my 1/2″ heavy duty Makita right angle drill. You can’t beat that.

I used this auger bit today on a deck I’m building. I was drilling through three 2×12’s and a 4×4 post to install 5/8″ carriage bolts. It cut through like butter and expelled all the shavings as it progressed. I didn’t hit any nails, so I can’t comment on it’s ability (as advertised) to deal with such, but it sure went through wet pressure treated lumber with ease. I got this drill to replace augers made by Bosch that I also purchased at Home Depot. A word of caution, the Bosch augers are so aggressive that they bore too deep too quickly and end up binding. In my case it caused the bit to stop and swung the body of the drill around nearly breaking my hand. I’m not a little guy and was using both handles on the 1/2 drill, still, I just couldn’t stop it. The Bosch augers are dangerous and I threw both of mine in the trash. This Milwaukee auger worked like a dream.
