I combined this with a (Milwaukee 1-1/2 in. x 10 in. SDS-Plus SLEDGE Steel Scaling Chisel) to help dig post holes through the concrete like dirt we have here in San Diego.Worked way better than using a 2 handled traditional post-hole digger. It flexed a little trying to break some of the concrete like dirt apart after cutting down into it but did not get bent at all.I also like the easy to use locking system to change bits because I did use a wider spade bit on softer dirt. However it is not inexpensive, but way less than an SDS-Max hammer drill and real heavy duty bits to do the same thing. And it just fits diagonally in my hammer-drill tool case.Yes, I used it for something it was not designed for, but why not.

The pluslok 18 inch SDS-Plus carbide bit extension works well to give added reach. The slip release mechanism to allow an SDS-Plus bit to be inserted operates easily and engages to hold the bit in securely. It easily slides by grasping it firmly and moving it in the direction of the printed arrow on the side to release the bit. The quality of the extension is good and appears heavy duty.

Milwaukee 48-20-6945 18” SDS PLUS-LOK Drill and Tool Extension – This extension allows a drill bit, chisel or scrapper to be extended 18”…When using this extension to extend the overall reach of a drill bit, any size drill bit can be used…When using this extension to increase the drilling depth of a drill bit, the drill bit must be larger than the diameter of the quick collar on the extension, larger than ¾”…When using this extension to extend the reach of a chisel, any size chisel can be used…When using this extension to extend the reach of a scrapper, any size scrapper can be used…I tested this tool to increase the drilling depth of a drill bit, I drilled a 1” hole in approximately 14” of concrete for a run of ½” PVC conduit…This extension performed as indicated, intended and expected without any problems…

This SDS-Plus 18 inch extension assists the user by extending your reach by 18 inches when drilling into conrete with selfeed and core bits. When drilling holes for concrete anchors, it’s not uncommon to encounter obstructions, such as previously installed pipe, which can create a tight fit for the rotary hammer. In these situations, users have had to create their own solutions to get more reach. The PLUS-LOK™ SDS-Plus Extensions change all of this by easily locking into the bit for a tool-free connection, allowing users to finally achieve the reach necessary to drill the hole in the desired location without the need for long drill bits. Each extension also outlasts several drill bits and is built to withstand aggressive applications such as side-loading or drilling through rebar in concrete

If you have a rotary hammer with an SDS Plus chuck, you’ll want this 18″ bit extender by Milwaukee. Whether you need extra depth drilling a 7/8″ or larger hole, or need extra reach somewhere, or even better posture standing up using the stop-drill chipping mode (i.e. breaking up tile) this gives you and your SDS Plus rotary hammer the extra length you need. Made of quality material, uses universal bits and fits in standard SDS Plus chucks, this simple bit extension is easy to use and a very helpful accessory.

The Milwaukee pluslok 18″ sds-plus extension is very handy to have. Weather you have to drill a hole or chip something out it will save your back. I found it comes in very handy when demo tile or other concret on the floor. You don’t have to work bent over or on your knees all the time. It also works great for drilling through thick masonry walls, you could use the short bits you already have and no longer have to worry about if you bits shank is long enough to make it through

There are times when I can’t get my drill close enough to use a standard bit. I do have extra-long bits in some sizes. but not all the sizes that I use. This extension works with the standard length bits to let me get where I need to. I have found an added bonus with this extension – I can drill holes in the floor without bending down, and holes in a concrete ceiling without using a ladder. The extension is easy to use – you insert it like a bit, and then push the bit into the extension. It has the usual pull back to release the bit. There is a little forward/back play in how the bit fits, but it doesn’t seam to affect they was it drills.I wish there was a better dust guard on the extension. I would like to use it with larger bits to drill deeper holes, but I don’t know how well it will resist getting concrete dust into the chuck.

This is an outstanding addition to your rotary hammer/drill collection. It is built with a slide locking mechanism similar to the one on your drill itself. Unless you are drilling a very large hole the extension won’t allow you to go deeper than the length of your bit, it will allow you to reach places that you otherwise can’t reach. It seems to me that the combination loses a bit of its “hammer power” which is understandable since it is going through another connection. It was not a big deal but I mention it in case you drill does not have a powerful hammer action to begin with. This extension works great and simplifies access on some of my projects.

This pluslok 18 inch sds plus bit extension is amazing. I expected there to be some slight to medium downfall in performance since I expected the flex in an extension and connector to take away from the impact of the tool.I can see everyone’s eyes rolling already…but the drilling performance IMPROVED with the extension attached. I decided to go big and test it with a 2-5/8″ carbide concrete bit that we use for drilling through foundations for conduit. I promise that it actually drilled faster with the extension. I went through hard subgrade rated mortar which is usually tough to drill. We used the Milwaukee FUEL 1-1/8″ sds plus hammer drill. By the way this is a formidable tool that we have been abusing for years and it just keeps going. The tool is available at Home Depot online and in stock in some busier stores. It locks in easily with no extra tools or accessories needed. Is it possible the extension flexes and stores torque for a better impact? I don’t know. I’m not an engineer. All I know is that it drilled faster. Of course this is meant to drill in difficult to reach locations and the added impact is just a bonus. I’ll be using this to drill floor anchors on industrial equipment without having to bend over. Highly recommend!I’ll be ordering more.

This is made very well, very heavy duty. Although it does extend the reach of a drill bit, it does not replace a long bit. Here’s why. The mechanism that locks the drill bit into the extension measures 21mm, or about .83 inch. If you use a drill bit less than 7/8″, that mechanism will prevent the bit from drilling any further than the length of the bit. So, a 1/4″ hole will only be as deep as the bit. The extension extends the reach, not the depth of the hole beyond the length of the drill bit.
