I remain unsure about my “star” rating. I easily cut through 3/16″ steel flat bars. The saw is well balanced and will last a long time. Blade changes and tension reset are awkward. It will only accept a 12″ blade.

I used this compact hacksaw to saw two bolts off of a toilet seat. I had to use two blades to get the job done. It’s a handy little saw, and it was easy to change the blades. The blade remained secure in the saw, even though it took me a couple of hours to finish the job. I did not realize until later that the handle had rubbed a blister on my finger, due to the way the handle and the mechanism that facilitates the easy change of the blade. I would use this saw again, but for a much lighter duty job than the thick metal bolts that I used it for this time.
