The Milwaukee 16 ft. Wide Blade Tape Measures have the longest reach and straightest standout in the industry. Users can reach further on the jobsite with up to 16 ft. of reach to take long measurements on their own. The Milwaukee blade design provides the straightest standout, reducing blade arc for efficient and accurate measuring. The tape measures are wear and impact-resistant with nylon bond blade protection and an additional anti-tear coating on the first 6 in. of the blade, reducing tape tear. Built to withstand the jobsite, the measuring tapes are constructed with a 5-point reinforced frame for impact resistance.

An excellent tape with a long reach as advertised. The two sided printing paired with the large numbers make it easy and quick to use on big jobs. The tape is heavy for its size but very rugged. I have dropped it many times already without any damage whatsoever.

This tape has some really great features. The lock holds, the finger control and guard are nice, but what I really love is the large lettering on both sides. I would buy it again just for that!. I have had it less than a month, so can’t comment on durability, but it seems pretty sturdy. The reason I deducted 1 star is the claimed reach of 17′. 12′ sure. 14′ if very steady, but I could not get 17′

Typically respecting the Milwaukee brand, I purchased 2 of these as gifts from HD dot com for gifts. Waited till the eve of the 23rd to open the box so I could wrap them. That is when I saw the 14’ standout on the packaging and remembered seeing 17’ in the on-line description. I thought I must have received old stock so I went to 3 different stores and they all had the same packaging. Went back to the .com and looked up the item. 17’ reach and Milwaukee’s site stated the same. So I called Milwaukee and found out something interesting. I did receive the most current packaging but here lies the devil in the detail. 14’ standout is how far you can extend the tape from the dispenser before it “snaps” and drops to the ground. 17’ reach is that 14’ standout when holding the tape measure with your arm extended. Apparently Milwaukee chose this 17’ reach in their description to align themselves with how the competition is selling their tape measures. Pfft…BTW, I extended both measures out and they snapped at a little over 12’. The next thing marketing will tell me is that standout is extending the measure out at a 70deg angle upwards…If this sort of thing is important to you make your purchases accordingly.

Great standout, comfortable in hand.Downside is the hook on the end is way too small.If it were to extend 1/4″ past the sides of the tape blade it would be perfect.Work at a lumber yard and use it often,no problems so far.
