Best tape I’ve ever owned. What I like is because of the extra width it doesn’t break so easy when your measuring horizontally above your head. Great reach too. Also love the finger notch to control its winding back up. Excellent tape and good price too.

Do not for a minute believe this tape measure has a 17 ft or even 14 ft reach. I bought it for that reason alone.

Dont get me wrong, i like milwaukee tools, but their tape measures are not made to the same quality their other tools are. The tape itself breaks after 3 weeks of use, i try to return it to home depot but they dont exchange them anymore. Milwaukee will do it but its a long @$$ process to get it replaced. I buy 6 to 7 each year. The only reason i keep using them is because we have an account with them.

Typically respecting the Milwaukee brand, I purchased 2 of these as gifts from HD dot com for gifts. Waited till the eve of the 23rd to open the box so I could wrap them. That is when I saw the 14’ standout on the packaging and remembered seeing 17’ in the on-line description. I thought I must have received old stock so I went to 3 different stores and they all had the same packaging. Went back to the .com and looked up the item. 17’ reach and Milwaukee’s site stated the same. So I called Milwaukee and found out something interesting. I did receive the most current packaging but here lies the devil in the detail. 14’ standout is how far you can extend the tape from the dispenser before it “snaps” and drops to the ground. 17’ reach is that 14’ standout when holding the tape measure with your arm extended. Apparently Milwaukee chose this 17’ reach in their description to align themselves with how the competition is selling their tape measures. Pfft…BTW, I extended both measures out and they snapped at a little over 12’. The next thing marketing will tell me is that standout is extending the measure out at a 70deg angle upwards…If this sort of thing is important to you make your purchases accordingly.

It is a gift for our son who is building a camp next year. He picked it out himself. He loves it.

This is great for the price

Wide and does extend out, but packaging says 14′ reach. Nice for seeing underside printing of measurements.Con – has a manual lock to keep tape from retracting. Really would prefer a auto-lock with release.

I picked this tape measure because of the smooth clip where I clip it on my pants. All other tape measures destroy my pants.
