This is a high quality utility knife. This particular Milwaukee utility knife has two features that I haven’t seen before.First, the metal body is made of aluminum, so it is surprisingly light weight. It’s still very rigid and solid, but the knife is much lighter than any other steel model that I’ve used. This is nice if you’re already carrying around a heavy tool bag or tool belt.Second, the blade slider is on the side, not on the top of the knife. This makes it more ergonomic to open and close the blade with your right thumb.Other than that, it’s a pretty simple standard utility knife. It has a button near the tip for quick blade changes, which works well. It has a plastic ‘lid’ on the bottom of the handle that can store additional blades, and the blade holder even has a steel spring clip inside to keep the spare blades from rattling around, which is a nice touch. Last, it has a nice large hole in the end opposite the blade for a lanyard or hook. Overall it’s a very well made, well designed utility knife.I have one minor complaint: It doesn’t come with any spare blades–the blade holder comes empty, which is the first time I’ve ever seen a new utility knife that didn’t have at least one spare blade. So make sure to buy some spare blades if you buy this knife. One thing to note: This knife is for right handers only. If you are left handed, I do not recommend this knife. I’m left handed, so as soon as I received this knife and realized that the blade slider is on the side of the knife and designed to be used with the right thumb, I realized I wouldn’t be able to use it. I gave it to my right-handed friend who uses a utility knife all day, every day, and he loves it. He particularly likes that it is light weight, as it’s a few less ounces in his tool bag.

I am disappointed in this utility knife…not the quality of product I have come to expect from the Milwaukee brand. First the good points: very comfortable/ergonomic to hold and blade extends easily. The disappointments: blade is very difficult to retract (which almost leaves you no choice but to let the blade remain out/unprotected between uses) and there are no instructions included on how to change blades. Furthermore, the package says there is storage for 5 blades, but no blades are included…not a huge deal, but kind of misleading. All in all, no improvement in a concept that has been around for decades.

Best cutter I’ve ever had, and I’ve gone through several in my decades of DIY. The rubber grip makes it not only easier, but I believe, far safer to use from other cutters. It give you an absolutely excellent grip, whether right or left handed. So far, I’ve used mine for cutting open boxes, cutting down boxes for recycle, and even cutting shingles to do roof repair. The blade locks securely into place for cutting harder materials. And the enclosed storage is as easy as it is convenient. And best yet, the quick release blade lock, whether turning the blade around or installing a new blade. Only cutter I use now!

I really like this knife. No problems so far and it’s holding up to all the abuse I’ve put it through. Almost all my hand tools are Miwaukee and have been pleased with all of them.

This tool is preferable over the old fashioned one I have used for decades! What I like better is the side location of the release button to move the blade (instead of on top). The style and grip is perfect. Also, the blade storage is easily accessed which means it is not necessary to take the compartment apart to select a blade. I am right handed, but this specific item may not be as well suited for left handed users.

I have 3 other utility knives (aka box cutters) and this one beats them all. With those other knives I am forever accidentally changing the blade setting (opening it farther than desired, or closing it) because the slide lock for changing the blade position is always located on the top of the knife, right where your thumb naturally rests. Milwaukee solved this problem by relocating the slide lock to the side of the knife. Now, I never accidentally change the blade position.Other than the blade being fully retracted, the knife has 3 different positions for the blade: 1) just the tip exposed, 2) half of the blade exposed, and 3) the full blade exposed. The body of the knife is made of metal so the knife is tough and will take a beating, including handle being dropped. Unlike my other knives, the Milwaukee knife features a grooved grip handle, which makes it much easier to hold and control, and prevents slippage in your hand. One feature I really love is the large blade storage compartment that is accessible by a flip cover versus having to get out a screwdriver and unscrewing two knife halves, which is how many competing knives are designed. My only desire would be if Milwaukee had included some spare blades in the knife itself (and raised the price a bit to cover them). The end of the knife handle also features a lanyard hole so you can hang this knife from a belt if desired.Changing the blade also does not require that you open the knife; rather, there is a push button on the side that when pushed will release the blade. This allows for a quick blade change.Another quality product from Milwaukee.

Feels good in my hand. Feels robust and solid. Unbelievably sharp. Love the side blade slide mechanism.
