I have to admit ,as a knife guy I can be a bit protective of some of my very expensive knives. Even in the military I carried a small swiss army knife so I wouldn’t have to use my custom knife or even my bayonet for rough mundane daily cutting chores. There is zero doubt you are getting a low level stainless blade here, but if you accept that upfront then you realize how awesome it is that you have a durable full tang knife for $15…my guess is that for $15 the blade is roughly a 400series or 440a/b equivalent stainless..they refer to their more expensive knives as Aus8 so these are lower then Aus8 . it is probably a bit softer then the higher grades,ie Aus8/440c..but that has good points too since it should be easier to touch up then a harder 440c and possibly less likely to chip/break,,of course that depends on heat treatment,.. buck and Gerber use a 420 high carbon series steel that has a good reputation with their heattreat…basically if you accept it is a $15 knife you can abuse and ride hard and put away wet, then you shouldn’t get to caught up in comparing it to better made knives..and for all the talk of wonder steels, it can be a pain to touch up some of these harder steels… which is why simple high carbon blades are often popular with old school everyday use knife guys.. As a knife guy i am very critical of grind lines and blade straightness and I have to admit I was surprised at how decent this blade is…there is definitely slight off line grinds on spine but not as bad as i expected and only by mere millimeters..the blade was straight and the belly grinds appear very symetrical overall… I’ve owned more expensive ,better known brand’s of knives that have had worse grinds then this $15 one…The knife handle is hard plastic and would be slippery if wet and is a bit “thin” feeling, but it works..though I like the concept of full tang, it would have been nice to reduce some of the handle weight with maybe a smaller tang thru the middle of the handle…tho the knife balances well in the hand a slight tang weight reduction would help overall weight and definitely improve how the knife carries in the sheath, without any major loss of durability. The sheath is ok,,im not a huge fan of the clip on sheaths,,reminds me of those cheap Uncle Mike brand inside-the-waistband pistol holsers that never stay locked onto your belt…inside the sheath is a small ,raised ridge/line of plastic that locks into a corresponding indent on knife handle….for the purposes the knife is marketed as it works fine and can be pulled out one handed, but I would not want this sheath for true outdoors uses due to belt clip and light duty locking sheath…however for a throw in your trunk or toolbox knife or a secondary easy on/off belt beater for around camp it is perfect…comes surprisingly sharp out of package and actually has a reasonable thin blade compared to most “tactical” knives with overly thick spines..im a fan of sturdy blades but really if you think you need a thick blade so you can use a knife as a prytool, then you need to buy a screwdriver…this knive blade is thin enough that it will easily work as a camp kitchen knife…tho the handle is thin and can feel weird in the hand I like that it does allow the sheath to keep the knife tight to the hip, unlike a thick rounded handle.I like the dull grey finish of the blade over the shiny finish of most cheapo stainless knives…If you accept that this is a $15 knife ,that you can abuse without crying if its damaged, then you realize what a nice knife it really is..

Just like everything else Milwaukee makes, this fixed blade knife is made extremely well. Really comfortable in the hand, and made to last.I really think that Milwaukee had many different uses in mind when they designed this knife. Its not only great for use out in the shop, but any hunter, Fisher or outdoorsman will get tons of use out of thisThe sheath is mad of hard plastic and has a strong belt clip that will stay attached to your belt even during heavy movement. The tang also goes the hole way through the handle instead of a two piece like many of the others on the market. The blade is stainless which is a big plus, you can shape it when needed and I would also say that its even dishwasher safe. Not to mention, the grip is very comfortable, and has a great grip action to it. The lanyard hole is also a nice touch.I couldn’t be happier with this knife, and think Milwaukee did a great job with this knife.

As usual, being from Milwaukee, this is another excellent product. It is a nice weight, not to heavy, nor to light, but definitely heavy duty. I believe this thing is sharp enough to cut just about anything. The blade is high quality stainless and has a very nice edge already on it. I have used it to cut numerous things from cardboard, plastic to rope and vinyl. Seems to work equally well on all. I expect it will be in my tool box for many years of dependable use.

This 4 inch fixed blade knife is a good addition to my garage. It is well packaged and allows you to clearly see the contents: full knife and sheath. The knife has a sharp stainless steel blade and an ergonomic handle in the typical red Milwaukee color. It feels good in the hand and is the right weight for typical garage applications. The sheath includes a belt clip and holds the knife in place well. It is sometimes difficult to pull the knife out the sheath unless you hold the sheath in place with the other hand.In general it is a very good product and I would buy it.

Very well balanced, Seems to be unbreakable, sharpest knife I have ever had, fantastic price for the best work knife I’ve ever used. Comes with a scabbard that snaps the knife safely in place. This is an incredible work knife!

Great little fixed blade. Strong. Tough. Came razor sharp out of the package. Push cutting paper no problem. The only issued I had were the sheath. It wasn’t really an issue as much as just an improvement that could be made. The drainage hole at the bottom is very small so larger debris can’t be washed out as easily. Also the drainage hole should double as a lanyard hole but this isn’t possible because the tip of the blade is visible in that hole in the bottom. It would slice through any lanyard you tried to attach it to. Besides that I just wish the belt clip was deeper to accommodate a thicker belt and hang the blade lower. Everything else is great. For 15 bucks it’s well worth it. 100% reccomended. Buy one.

Milwaukee is really expanding their product line, This is a great knife, Its got a 4 inch drop point blade which makes it good for anything from skinning a deer to using it like a chisel with a hammer behind it. Its made from stainless steel so it wont rust no matter how long you leave it sitting in your tool box or at your hunting cabin. The blade is a full length piece of steel that goes all the way thru the handle to the lanyard hole , The sheath is solid plastic so you can clean it easily with soap and water, the knife as well. Has a great grip and fits the hand well. Overall length is 9 1/2 inches.. This would be great in any toolbox, survivalists bug out bag or just to keep on your person, stays sharp and resharpens easily when needed

I bought this knife, liking the rugged grip and full-tang design. Being a stainless steel, I don’t expect it to hold an edge like carbon steel. The BIG disappointment is that the sheath does not retain the knife. It is fine if you only stand upright, but use the lanyard loop because you’ll likely loose the knife with any activity.

I really like everything about this Milwaukee 4 in. Fixed Blade Knife. The weight and feel are perfect for most utility knife needs. The grip is comfortable with or without gloves. The packaging is put together so that you have a good view of the blade and the plastic sheath. The knife was very sharp right out of the package. The sheath is a durable molded sheath with belt clip and it grips the knife well, so pulling the knife out may require a good tug. The warranty appears to be like every MILWAUKEE hand tool in that it is warranted to the original purchaser only to be free from defects in material and workmanship. Subject to certain exceptions, MILWAUKEE will repair or replace any hand tool which, after examination, is determined by MILWAUKEE to be defective in material or workmanship for the lifetime of the tool.

Now this is a very good and useful knife; for example, I had sprayed foam insulation and it puff’s out. Then the next day I used this knife to cut away excess foam. Not only slicing trough it was a breeze but way more control for a smooth nice cut(s) … After painted edges looked great. This knife didn’t dull out nor break like a flimsy razor. Has good feel while using.Comes with a knife clip on belt holster and secures knife well.Another welcomed tool to the tool arsenal!

I have been using knives since 1976 and even made some custom knives in the early 2000’s. I also sharpen knives as a hobby so I think I’m definitely qualified to review this knife. For $20, this knife is probably the best deal out there for a 4″ fixed blade. I have now bought 2 even though I really only need 1. Since Milwaukee doesn’t list what the exact steel is, I assumed it would be a poor performer. I have used this knife several times a week for the last 4 months. Upon receipt it was pretty sharp with a surprisingly good secondary bevel, straight out of the box. I used my Ken Onion Work-sharp belt sharpener, followed the factory grind and went through the belts I have all the way to around 1200 grit. I then used a leather stropping belt with green compound. The knife was then very sharp and shaved arm hair effortlessly. What I was most impressed was when cutting printer paper at slow and fast rates, there wasn’t even a hint of a minor burr anywhere on the blade (this generally means blade will also get dull fast, this was not the case). This blade just cuts effortlessly along the entire blade. About the easiest knife I have ever sharpened. Keep in mind I have a Wicked Edge Sharpener with all the bells and whistles, but just using the Ken Onion belt sharpener worked really well with very little effort or time. After using it one day to totally cut up about 140 boxes (20 minutes of non stop cutting), I was surprised the blade with still decent sharp. To bring it back to peak shaving sharpness, I just took a half dozen passes over the leather stropping belt on my Ken Onion Work-sharp and the blade was back to peak sharpness. I carry a Spiderco Para Military 2 in S30V steel but always use this for real cutting jobs when I have it handy. If you hand sharpen and strop your blades, this knife will be easier than most to bring it to peak sharpness and keep it there. To me, it seems to go from decent sharp to scary sharp when you strop it with compound. Lastly, I find the handle comfortable with reasonable grip, not sure if it would be overly slippery if you got blood on it when skinning an animal. There really isn’t a traditional guard but the blade seems very stable in my big thick hands, not sure if my hand would slide down it if you used a stabbing motion. Lastly, the sheath is a nice way to protect the blade and can be used to carry it, but if you plan on taking it into the outdoors and using it in rugged environments in which you may take a bad fall but want to ensure your blade stays put and doesn’t accidentally stab you or get lost, you will want a stronger sheath. Hope this helps…

I was nicely suprised when I ran across this knife at my local home center store. It was such a nice find that I got it to add to my camping kit. Would I recommend this to a friend? I have already recommended it to two of my friends and will probably recommend it to more as time goes by. You should totally get this knife – you won’t be disapointed

This knife is razor-sharp and appears to be extremely sturdy. Only time will tell how well it keeps its edge and I’ve only had it a few weeks. So far, so good. I like the fact that it comes with a nice sheath that clips to your belt. It fits snuggly in the sheath and won’t easily fall out. It’s sold as something you’d keep in your toolbox but I see no reason why it wouldn’t make an excellent hunting knife as well.

Ordered two of these. Both were shaving sharp out of the package. Blade grind was decently even. Surprisingly the blade is a hollow grind. I would have thought a tradesman knife to be a flat or convex grind for strength. It is a great slicer and cuts very well. Knowing it’s not a pry bar I ended up prying with it anyway. I did manage to bend the blade but at least it didn’t break. It’s a good general use work knife. I will buy more when needed.
