High quality tool. At first I noted that torque was not as good as a typical L shaped Allen key tool, but noted that it was an area where you can attach a wrench and tighten it further (which they call “Wrench-ready hex shanks”). I also got the SAE version as well.

Good product, holder for bits is a little stiff. It will strengthen you fingers.

Another superb quality tool from Milwaukee. The handle feels solid and comfortable in the hand, and the bits are extremely well made. The bits have a hex cross-section and can be used in quick-change chucks. As someone who uses metric hex-socket bolts a lot, I appreciate the wide range of bit sizes, down to 1.5mm.The bits fit tightly in the handle, which makes it a bit of a pain to pull them out. What I do is use the bit being swapped out to push the new bit out. The handle stores six bits, and has its own hex cross-section for a wrench. Adding the handle I get eight pieces, so I don’t know where 9-in-1 comes from.

Milwaukee just released these new 9-in-1 multi bit drivers. This is the Metric Hex driver. It comes with seven size hex – 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm – six fit in the handle and one fits in the front of the tool. I guess they are counting the 1/4″ socket as another driver, but that gets the total to 8… The handle is fairly large – would be find for someone that uses large or XL gloves. Not sure it would be very comfortable for people with smaller hands. The working bit is held in with a strong magnetic and doesn’t fall out even when shaken (check out the video I made of this). The extra bits are held into the handle with some sort of friction mechanism, and also don’t fall out when shaken. Seems like a useful addition to the toolbox. There is a nice hex bolster on the shaft, so you can get some extra leverage if needed.

Seems good quality, I use it for my rc cars, only wish it had storage for all the bits instead of having to leave one on the tool

This “screwdriver” is a great alternative to the traditional set of allen/hex wrenches. It has a good variety of sizes, and each bit that is not in use is stored conveniently in the handle of the driver. The screwdriver functions smoothly, and allows you to put plenty of torque on the screws or bolts that you are installing or removing. It’s a good size, too, fitting nicely in a glovebox, toolbag, or large pocket.

These are freaking great. I’ve got this in the SAE size as well. I’ve got this motley collection of drivers of every random type and size. It’s a mess. This thing replaces 8 of those drivers in a very well thought out package. The handle design, particularly the way the bits store in the handle, is brilliant. The bits are tough, and unlike the itty bitty interchangeable bits for other sorts of multi-bit drivers, these store in such a way that you pretty much HAVE TO store the old bit properly in order to change out to another size, yet bit changes are fast and simple. This is a great design. If they have these in torx, slotted, and phillips varieties, I’m buyin’ ’em.

Great tool, only wish it was ratchet style…. Still works great….

This is a much easier way to use hex wrenches than the little metal ones that fall out of your hands. Well built!

Manufactured in Taiwan in accordance with Milwaukee Tool’s design and specifications, this tool is another multi-purpose tool that will, in some cases, allow one to pare down the number of tools to be carried in one’s tool box or belt. To its credit, the tool is, for the most part, well made (except for a slightly “sloppy” fit between the bits and the ¼ inch drive) with a handle that is (due to the dual durometer construction) extremely comfortable, yet rugged. The overall length of a little over nine inches and almost 4-3/4 inches from the end of the handle to the tip of the bit provides a deep reach for those hard to access fasteners. However, this same length will limit its use in tight quarters. The drive handle can be used by itself as a ¼ inch nut driver or, with the provided hex bits (1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm and 6mm) as a metric hex key driver. These 8 functions, along with the integral “loop maker” hole provide the “9 in 1” functions. Storage for six of the seven bits is provided in the handle, which requires one to push the desired bit out with the one no longer being used. Retention in the handle is by friction fit to an internal “O” ring. The bit being used is retained in the driver by a small magnet in the recess of the driver (though the bit does not “extend” this magnetic field to the tip to retain ferrous hardware). While adequate to retain the bit during use, it is possible that (if carried in one’s tool belt) that the bit could dislodge from the driver. As there is only storage for six bits (understandably, since one needs a bit to push out the next one to be used from the handle) care must be taken not to lose the bit installed in the drive handle. Due to the length of the tool and the concentration of mass in the handle, it tends to be top heavy, so is best kept in ones tool box (bag) or a deep pocket in one’s tool belt. The driven end of the bits are the fairly standard ¼ inch “power groove” design, which may tempt one to use these bits in a power tool (drill motor or impact tool) which would, especially for the smaller sizes, more than likely damage the bits (and, perhaps, the fastener being torqued down). It should be noted that the manufacturer’s illustration shows use in a power tool but does not indicate that they are designed for such use. Coincident with the receipt of this tool, I had to assemble a piece of furniture with many hex head screws (with only a typical hex key tool supplied) which provided a good test of the tools comfort of use. It significantly lessened the time to assemble with minimal strain on the hands. Bottom line….as long as you do not need to use this in constricted areas, the long reach is beneficial; and, one takes care to not lose the bit in use, this would be a helpful addition for those needing a metric hex driver.

This multi-bit screwdriver by Milwaukee (non-ratcheting, Model 48-22-2136) includes 7 interchangeable metric “hex/allen” bits ranging from 1.5 – 9 mm in size. The sizes are engraved on the bits. With only 7 bits I have no clue why it’s called a “9-in-1” tool. The bits are 3.5” long but since they have the standard 1/4” hex base any standard bot can be used in the tool – and these bits can be used in standard drivers, including power tools. The bits are held in place by a perfectly-sized magnet, holding them securely but making them easy to remove. Six of the bits store tightly inside the rubberized plastic handle for easy access, but it can be difficult to remove them; the smaller bits in particular dig into the tip of my thumb/finger while pressing down. They may loosen with time but for now I often use one bit to push out others. The handle is comfortable and ergonomic, and rough enough it shouldn’t slip with sweaty palms. I think it’s a bit high-priced for a non-ratcheting tool, but the overall quality is undeniable and it has Milwaukee’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

This is an excellent multi-bit hand tool from Milwaukee. It is really designed well, from the in-handle storage of bits to the magnetic bit retention. It has a loop maker built in for forming loops in copper wire. Bit sizes are 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, & 6mm. It will also drive 1/” hex with the bit removed. Bits are power tool ready with retention groove, and sizes are marked on them. The package was pretty difficult to open, so make sure you have a good air of scissors. A great tool!

Milwaukee 9 in 1 hex/key multi-bit screwdriver feels good in your hand. Great craftsmanship and looks good too. Comes with bits sizes 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.0mm, 5.0mm, 6.0mm and a nut driveralong with a wire loop maker. Bits are chrome plated to resist rust. You can push the bits up through the bottom handle for storage. There are six storage holes for the bits. The 7th bit can be kept in the nutdriver as when in use, or can be stuck in the extra holes along the Top. See pics. I highly recommend this multi-bit screwdriver

I got a great new tool to drive and tighten metric size allen screws from Milwaukee tools. A hand-held driver with 7 bits (6 stored in the handle and one in the magnetic hex drive). The bit sizes range from 1.5 mm, 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm. The hex shanks will fit into a powered driver if hand torque is not sufficient. Each bit is chrome plated for marine grade rust protection. The bits are 3.5 inches long. This set up will be handy in my tool bag. I would recommend this tool to a friend.

This nine-in-one metric hex/key drive multi-bit screwdriver by Milwaukee is a versatile tool that is great for any job requiring a metric sized hex/key bit. Each bit is constructed so that it not only will fit securely in the screwdriver but are also power tool compatible and the hex shaped shanks can also be used with a wrench to get additional leverage if needed. The variety of the bit sizes makes this tool handy for many different jobs.

I like the kit I purchased. However, I wish I had a smaller diameter driver that I could use in tight places. I would want the driver to accept the 1/4″ hex. bits. The small driver should be a maximum of 3/4″ diameter and have a magnetic or snap-in type socket and have a center sleeve so that you could spin the driver using both hands when extreme accuracy is required. If you make such a driver please let me know where I could purchase one that fits your bits. I need small driver for working on and inside 3D printers that are basically metric sizes. Thanks,Jim Coffey
