The basic construction is plastic, but very accurately made. There is no play in the stripper and it’s blade is intensely accurate. The adjusting knob for the blade moves very slowly with multiple revolutions which is excellent, as it give extremely precision control for your cut, It is easy to adjust without making a cut too deep, or too shallow. I was very pleased with the operation and there was not so much as the slightest nick in any of the tiny wires, That’s impressive!

One issue I have had over the years is working with multi-stranded cables. Unless you were very careful, you risked cutting or stripping the insulation on at least one small wire. When used properly this tool eliminates this problem. With the adjustable blade, once it’s set in place a twirl with your finger and the outer layer of insulation is stripped off. It makes working with these cable much easier and safer.

Absolutely (THE BEST) Low voltage wire stripper I’ve ever used. It’s small and comfortable to use and the adjustable blade is a great idea. I plan on buying another one so I can have a spare for my travel tool bag. Like alot of Milwaukee’s tools they really nailed it with this one.

I have had this stripper for a few weeks now and intended to use it for low voltage wires. The clamp gap is too wide and low voltage wires will not strip, It is intended for heavier gauge wiring and it does a quick and clean strip of those types of wires. It is small and would be good for electricians to perform quick and clean stripping of wire. You place a finger through a whole and spin the stripper around to strip the wire.

Does exactly what it is supposed to do. It has an adjustable blade depth, which can be very handy to assure proper cutting depth without damaging individual Cat 5 wire insulation. Blade is sharp and makes a nice clean cut with just a couple of rotations. When comparing this stripper to the competition it is priced fairly at $15. However products like the Ideal (Model # 45-605) or Eclipse let you reconfigure the utp stripper to become a coax stripper. The Milwaukee is single purpose. This stripper doesn’t appear to let you change the blade when dull/corroded. There is no mention of replacement blades on the Milwaukee website. This makes the Milwaukee a throw away when dull. About my rating:5 stars – Exceeds all expectations. Better than the competition in all aspects, design, cost, operation, and support (A+). 4 stars – Nicely done. Better than the competition and solves the problem. (B)3 stars – Works as expected. Has some shortcomings but gets the job done. Might be short in design, cost, longevity, or support. (C).2 stars – Falls short of expectations and needs improvement. Pass and look elsewhere. (D)1 star – Fails miserably. Does not get the job done, might even make things worse. Someone at the company should be fired. (F)

The UNSHIELDED TWISTED PAIR STRIPPER proved to speed up the job of preparing the wires for ends to be crimped on. They made the job simple and easy as they cut evenly and only as deep as I wanted, allowing for the right cut the first time. The tool is small enough to be easy to handle and still provide the right leverage to make the cut effortless and clean.

Milwaukee’s new UTP Stripper is what you’d expect—a solid, bright red tool that is hard to lose and easy to use. Set the blade to the correct height, open the jaws, give it a spin and your sheath is stripped. I primarily use plenum cat6, and, as you’d expect, a simple tool with a razor blade is fool proof. Adjust the blade for coax, or whatever you need to strip, and once it’s adjusted, you probably won’t touch it again until you switch cable. Finger loop is big, and the tool is well made.

As I am a user of a number of Milwaukee products, both hand and power tools as well as the Packout storage system. This item is a must have for anyone working with CAT 3/5/6 wiring.I am impressed with the quality and durability of this CAT UTP stripper. It handles well (as at times I need to do a hundred or more RJ45 ends at a switch station in a data room environment). A quick squeeze of the handle and insert the wire end to be stripped, spin and you’re set and ready for the crimper (Milwaukee #48-22-3075 / Home Depot #301878931). Very easy to adjust and will maintain that adjustment on the cutting blade for the proper depth of the cut of the outer sheath without scoring the inner twisted pairs of wire. There are many brands and types of these CAT 5/6 wire strippers on the market and the Milwaukee is the one I carry in my toolbox. This type of stripper from Milwaukee is comfortable to work with, especially in a repetitive environment. This cutter, if properly adjusted, should give you at least a thousand uses before the blade starts to wear to a point the tool needs replacement. At their price point when the blade starts to wear just get another UTP stripper. I don’t recommended this tool for use on shielded CAT 5/6 wire or coax (as there are more useful dual strippers for coax). But if push comes to shove it can be used, just don’t expect too many useful strips from this (or any one of these spinning strippers) and you’ll buy another for the next job.

I work in the IT field and I’m often called upon to terminate Cat 5/6 cables. Stripping the wires can be challenging without the proper tools, cutting too deep will damage the wires underneath compromising their integrity and causing signal drops. I’ve been using a sharp knife to score around the wire but I’ve cut my fingers on more than one occasion, so I finally broke down and got this wire stripper. Very easy to use and compact, simply set the depth of the cut, place the wire inside and give it a quick spin. The quality is what you would expect from a Milwaukee product and should be in my tool bag for many years to come.

Very small and easy to use stripper. What I like:• Lightweight plastic and small. Very small. Will not take up much room in your tool bag.• It works. Easy to spin once you adjust the blade to the right depth.• The price is fair and when the blade dulls go buy another.• The spring has just the right amount of pressure.• The finger hole is a good size. Should work for 99% of people out there.• I already dropped mine on concrete from about 6 feet up. It did not break. What I don’t like:• Nothing to be concerned about here. It’s a low priced cat stripper that works well and fast. Again when you wear it out go buy another because you will like this one. It’s a good tool. I recommend.

Simple and effective. To use this, just squeeze it open, place the cable to be stripped into it and let go. Then simply twirl the tool around. A finger hole makes this a natural action. A small blade cuts into the cable sheath, allowing the sheath to be pulled off.I find that just two turns are enough to strip my CAT5 cable. For years I have been carefully cutting multi-strand cable sheaths back with a work knife, always worrying that I may cut through one of the wires inside. This solves that problem well. The small blade has an adjustment screw that will control the depth of the cut. Once you have found the right depth for your cable, you should be able to not think about it again.Made for category 3 through 6 cable.Limited lifetime warranty!Made in Taiwan.

Used to strip the outer part of the Ethernet cable, the Milwaukee Unshielded Twisted Pair Stripper makes it a simple task to perform. It is used for all Cat 3,5, and 6 cabling. A unique design allows you to use one hand for this operation. Another great feature is the blade is spring loaded and quickly adjusts to the proper cutting depth. Used it many times with no problems.

Simple to use and very precise cuts!I’ve used Milwaukee tools previously and found them to be of high quality and very durable. I was wondering how this tool would perform compared to the other wire stripper I own. I was quite surprised when it out performed my wire stripper that cost more than twice what this one does! The thumb screw on the bottom of the stripper allows for a precise cut. Just make small adjustments each time until you are at the required depth and you’re done. The package indicates that this cutter is for Cat 3-6 cable. I used it to cut 12 gauge speaker cable and it did not cut any of the wire strands once I made the initial adjustment. This tool allowed me to cut long or short lengths of shielding. The picture I attached shows a short length of shielding that was cut and the preciseness of the cut. This is a great addition to my tool chest!

SUMMARY: A NICE ETHERNET TOOL.BACKGROUND: I do some ethernet cable work and am always looking to expand and/or improve my IT tool-set. The opportunity to evaluate the new Milwaukee Cat 5/6 stripper was the chance to do both.FIT AND FINISH: Although constructed primarily of plastic, the stripper has an adequate feel. The adjustable cutter depth is both a necessary and handy feature. The finger hole is conveniently sized and located. The embossed spring clip handle gives a sufficiently slip-resistant grip. OPERATION: Ethernet cable is often lightly scored around the sheath and then bent, twisted, and pulled until the sheath separates and slides off the wire. Standard practice is to then use the stripping cord inside the wire bundle to manually split the sheath further. Then the wire at the score point is cut off as waste to eliminate the possibility of a cut insulation. I made several scores with the stripper and was able to adjust the blade depth sufficiently to score the sheath lightly enough to allow it to break away with minimal effort without ever cutting completely through to the wire insulation underneath. For a wire miser like me this is the opportunity to save 2 inches per connection. SUMMARY: A tool that may pay for itself in time and material savings.PROS: Handy, light weight, efficient.

Very easy to use. Simply adjust the the blade on the stripper – you can adjust it to just score the sheath (in case you don’t want to cut any cable shielding) or set it to the depth of the sheath. It cuts through any type of sheath just fine. I’ve used on plenum and UV rated cable sheaths. The stripper also works on smaller coax cable sheath. The spring loaded jaw applies just the right amount of pressure on the cutter blade. The adjustable blade depth is super easy to set. The entire cutter is made of solid construction and should hold up well to drops.
