Good rule. Seems to have the numbers backward for me.

Did not think I would like it but i do Nice rule

i prefer the Wiha tools version, more flexible, (you can actually bend into a complete circle *the wrong way*), and it opens and closes easier; it’s metric based so it folds on the decimeter or something but i think this one also folds in odd places since it’s 6.5 ft not 6 ft.

This is a great folding ruler! It’s very well made, much more durable than the old style wooden rulers, a pleasure to use… but… please, please, please… can you make a model that is inside reading, LEFT-TO-RIGHT, on the other side. This is the classic layout of the old Lufkin 966 rulers used by every great carpenter I’ve ever known.

Quality tool , easy to read. Well made.

Using a Lufkin to take a measurement against a flat surface is nearly impossible to do accurately because of its design. The numbers are printed on both sides of this rule, which completely eliminated this problem. Unless you need the brick spacing gauge, this is a much better option.

Easy to use and read the numbers

Very durable and nice quality. I like the degree markings on top so you can figure out an angle. The only reason I have it 4 stars is it reads right to left rather than left to right. Gonna take a little bit to get used to that.

Great for trying to get pictures that need a scale included. Stiff yet flexes

Unlike most folding rulers, the Milwaukee folding ruler is much sturdier (I’ve dropped it twice partly unfolded). With it being made of a composite material, I don’t feel like I’m going to break it while folding and unfolding it. The lines and numbers are easy to read and don’t seem like they will wear off anytime soon.

I use it for Wind Mitigation . The fold out and lock feature leaves 1 hand free so I can take picture of measurements in attic .

Yes, good tape-measures have displaced folding rulers for many jobs. But sometimes you need a stick that won’t buckle or roll-up. Layout on plywood or sheet metal, you want your ruler to lay there while you make your marks. Also, there’s a pocket in your carpenter’s-pants for a folding rule.I’ve had folding rulers for decades. They tend to bind-up in the joints when left idle. They are a little fragile for rough construction. With hard use the scales tend to rub off. This is different. “Composite” is glass fibre reinforced polyamide, much stronger than wood. Scratch, weather and chemical resistant. Won’t swell in the damp. The marks are deeply embossed and should not wear off. The joints are a clever pin and spring gizmo which works smoothly and snaps to alignment– folded, straight, or right-angle.A pleasure to use.Marks at 12″ and 16″ intervals for framing. Foot-numbers and sub-inches after each 12″ mark so you can read-off say 6’3″ without counting. Sub-divided in 1/16 inches.A nifty angle-gauge on the side, though setting is non-obvious. Un-fold three joints. Re-fold two joints. Put the tip of the rule on the side-number of the angle you want. Now straighten the second joint. The end joint is the angle you asked for. The 45 degree angle is surprisingly precise. The marketing blurb says “laminate” but it appears to be solid fiber-reinforced. No laminate to chip or peel.Metal tips so the length does not wear-down, and your pencil or scriber runs smooth. Otherwise no exposed metal to scratch fine surfaces or conduct electricity.A note about “Inside Read”. Most older wooden folding-rules were “outside read”. If you partially open the rule, and hold the 1-2-3 end up, the still-folded bulk of the rule is away from you. If you are working on a large sheet, the rule doesn’t want to lay on the work. You can unfold it more so the bulk hangs off the end of the work, if your work is small enough, but then it wants to tip off. With Inside Read, the still-folded bulk of the ruler sits on top of the work. This is better for many chores.Side-note…. why “78 inch”? Well, it is really 78.74 inch. Which is 2 Meters. It seems this rule was developed by a is made by a well known and respected European tool company, and is made in Switzerland. I guess Milwaukee was so impressed by the product that they commissioned the same basic mechanism but with US markings.

Love this ruler I just wish it started on the outside instead of the inside of the fold other rulers I’ve used are printed starting on the outside and it is much more convenient but none feel and look as good as this one.
Jimmy Murray (verified owner) –
Solid, useful. I liked that it is slightly longer than a “standard” folding ruler.
