I work in IT and I often have to terminate Cat5/6 wires, I would typically use a pair of wire cutters or side cutting pliers to cut the wires, but that would often result in an uneven cut of the individual strands making it difficult to terminate properly. With these, I get a nice even cut across all of the wires, plus they are very small and lightweight, making them very easy to handle. The quality of the tool appears to be very good and should last me many years to come.

These are by far the best electricians or data cables snips on the market hands down!!

These are the best electrician snips I’ve ever used and much better than my prior set from another company. What I like:• The Milwaukee name is important. They get their tools right.• Very lightweight and small, which is good.• The handles are really nice with a hard rubber feel over the metal handle. Big or small fingers (with or without gloves) will be able to accurately use these. If you have well above average sized thumbs it might become tight.• The serrated blades with concave gullet keep the wires in place without slipping. Not all data snips have these.• Blades are high quality and made for heavy use and will not loosen over time.• The price is right for this quality. What I don’t like:• I really can’t find anything to pick at with these. I’m a fan of these for the reasons above. To me, this is an easy choice. I fully recommend.

These data snips are very nice. The only issue I had is when I pulled it out of the packaging one blade had two nicks in it that had to be deburred. I like the curvey blade as it makes cutting category cable cleaner by not crushing/flattening the cable when you cut it. They cut smooth and the red over molded handle is easier on the hands than the other brand that makes the these with a yellow handle. These are noticeably weightier than the other brand I just mentioned, but that could partially be why they cut easier, more weight easier cutting. Either way, I like them and so do my coworkers, too bad we can’t walk into Home Depot and purchase these off the shelf, my local HD’s carry a good amount of M12/M18, not so much in the hand tools area. They are about $5 more than the yellow handle data snips too.

WARNING: As of 1/24/2018 the description on the Home Depot Page is NOT for the Data Snips. Here is the description from the Milwaukee web site:————–Electrician Snips Model # 48-22-4045BLADES WON’T LOOSEN with Milwaukee’s BOLT LOCK design on the new electrician snips. All metal handles and comfortable grips give you the maximum leverage; a wire gullet prevents the blades from walking while making a cut.Electricians SnipsBlades won’t loosen with Bolt Lock TechnologyAll Metal HandlesBolt Lock Technology – Blades won’t come looseHigh Leverage Ergonomic HandlesWire Gullet prevents wires from walking———-Now, on with the review.SUMMARY: A great addition to my IT tool setBACKGROUND: I play around with IT (over 30 years in electronics.) The chance to try out Milwaukee’s data(electrician) snips was too good to pass up. I wasn’t disappointed.FIT AND FINISH: The same high quality I’ve come to expect from Milwaukee tools.I love the bright red handle, easy to spot in the IT tool bag. The ergometric handle is different that my old-style snips, but after a while I got use to it and it does spread the pressure of cutting completely across my palm. The matt finish is also nice, less slippery than my old polished chrome snips.USE AND OPERATION: Cutting cat 5e cable, insulation, and individual wires was smooth and easy. The wire gullet and serrated edges kept everything in place on the blades during the cuts. The 19 and 23-gauge stripping notches worked well. The High Leverage handle will take some getting used to as it doesn’t swing like the shorter handle on my old snips.SUMMARY: This was a great addition to my IT tool bag.PROS: Good fit and finish. Easy to use. Very functional.

Another winner for Milwaukee. These snips are perfectly functional and almost perfect in quality. I used them to make repeated cuts trough 12 gauge audio wire to try them out. I was able to cut through it using the straight part of the scissors without hurting my hand. My favorite feature is the blades curve up at the hinge almost like heavy duty cutting shears and I was able to cut through the jacket and dual 12 gauge wires without removing my thumb from the handle loop about two out of three tries. They also felt good in my hand under repeated use. They are small to me, as I have large but not plump hands and long fingers, but that did not make them uncomfortable. They somehow adjusted to my hand and vice versa, like a good pair of shoes. Finally they came well oiled, which to me is a plus because it says the manufacturer cares enough about their own product to keep it protected. The only imperfections aren’t related to functionality. There is a slight catch when closing the blades slowly. Unnoticed during normal cutting speed. And the lower blade had the slightest roughness along it. So 4.5 on quality really and the value over price is high, not stratospheric. Overall a typical 5 star Milwaukee product.Professionally Made in Taiwan under Milwaukee’s QC which is among the best period.

I was hoping the larger, coated grips would be easier on my hands. The hole is too small on the longer side to get two fingers into. Snips blades are thick which didn’t work for the close-up work I do with leather. The are built very sturdy and will work for heavy work.

Milwaukee data snips for voice/data/video cable installation are fantastic—they’re sharp, have all-metal construction so their incredibly sturdy, and the integrated strippers are handy, but what you’ll appreciate most is the gullet at the base of the blades that keeps cables from walking, allowing fast, accurate cuts. The blades are serrated, as you’d expect, and they’re really, really sharp. Feel free to put these on the ground and lean on them when cutting something thick, because they’re sturdy as can be. The rubber coated grip is nice, and it’s an ambidextrous tool—lefties rejoice!

The Home Depot and Milwaukee have a great set of small snips in this set !The blades appear to be Cadmium plated for rust free use ! The thumb hole isof a good size for adult hands. The finger side is elongated and molded in a Polytype of plastic for a great grip (see photos) and leverage ! The blades have shaped area for cutting larger wire and stripping insulation off wire ! I really like the qualityand comfortable feel of them !!

This Milwaukee Electrician’s Snip is another extremely handy tool to have especially if you perform any sort of electrical wiring on a ongoing basis. Manufactured of all metal up to and including the handles insures this tool will provide many years of reliable service. Same metal used is also rust resistant hence it will be maintenance free other than a occasional wipe down and oiling. One of the blades has a ingenious concave gulley which insures cutting insulated cables will “NOT walk” during cutting. Opposite blade has two distinct notches making this tool a joy to strip insulation on thin insulated electrical wires. The tip of this snip can also be used to smooth out burrs on thin walled tubing. Perfect for both “right” and “left” handed people. Thank you Milwaukee for another well thought out hand tool!
