Milwaukee had another clever idea with these ‘Powermove’ bolt cutters. They’re a 14 inch set, so for most cutting jobs, handles that long give you enough leverage to bite right through most bolts, etc. But if you have a tough hunk of steel or a thicker bolt and you need more gusto, the handles on these cutters extend two additional notches effectively giving you a 14 inch set of cutters, a 17 inch set, and a 19 inch set! The 19 inch length gives you 30 % more power in your cut, and that’s going to go right through any bolt that these can handle (max cut capacity 5/16 of an inch bolt). The proof’s in the cutting, of course, so I scrounged out several test bolts and an old no longer useful padlock to try these out on. These cutters went through all the bolts like a hot knife through butter… and even though I had to extend the handles to 19 inches, they ate through the padlock with ease as well. Milwaukee put a couple of nice feel good in your hands grips on them too, with nice ‘tether-ready’ holes to hang them right up on your tool board. I have a much larger set of cutters that have no such thoughtful hanging holes and are a bit of a pain to get on the tool wall. I suspect I’ll be grabbing for this set over the old big ones every single time from now on.This product – like all of Milwaukee’s tools that I’m aware of – have a lifetime warranty. I’ve become a true believer in the quality of Milwaukee tools. I think you’ll be more than satisfied with these cutters, and having them adjustable makes them a kind of neat novelty to show off too.

A powerful tool in a more compact size. Easier to transport around the ranch in the pick up or UTV, camping and overlanding.

I love the extendable handles, you have the extra leverage when needed but don’t have the extra length to worry about when storing them.

Cuts great

I am rating this for a medium to light duty cutter, not like the heavy duty industrial type. For my project of cutting 10ga steel rewire, they work great. I haven’t used them long enough to know how well the blades hold up.

This review is for Milwaukee Tool 48-22-4124, 24-inch Adaptable Bolt Cutter. It is rated for cutting soft/medium materials (up to 31 HRC) to 7/16″ and hard materials (up to 48 HRC) to 5/16″. It has heat-treated forged steel blades with tether-ready, comfort-grip handles that will not peel or slide off of the handles. For extra cutting power, the tool handles extend to optional overall tool lengths of about 29 inches and 32 long. It weighs approximately 8 pounds. The tool has a limited lifetime warranty. I made use of it with the handles fully extended for cutting 8 mm. (0.315 in.) diameter steel slab reinforcement mesh for a driveway pour, it working well and being comfortable to use. I like its overall length for doing that work, it requiring less stooping for this kind of work than my old shorter cutter. This is a welcome addition to my large tool collection.

What a fantastic strong tool. This little tool should be in every workers second bag. You won’t use it every day but when you need it, it will be there to open the tough locks, stuck bolts or cut fence wire. It’s already in my second work bag ready to do what’s necessary. I’ve cut bolts just to get started and with the extendable arms you can really get a better more powerful advantage of what ever you are cutting. Come on guys get one of these ahead of the need because if you are like me you will use this little giant tool. Highly recommend.

Milwaukee 48-22-4114 14” Adjustable Handle Bolt Cutter – The cutting capacity of these bolt cutters is 5/16”…Being able to adjust the handle length of bolt cutters is absolutely a great idea and invention…While I have used various sizes of bolt cutters none have had adjustable length handles…Many times I would select a larger size bolt cutter the needed simply to have longer handles creating more leverage, making the cut easier with less effort…The length of these bolt cutters with the handles retracted is 15”, allowing the user to work in tight or smaller spaces…The handle length can be adjusted to two positions, the first giving the bolt cutters a length of 17” and the second giving the bolt cutters a length of 19”, allowing these bolt cutters to cut with less effort than standard nonadjustable bolt cutters…I tested these bolt cutters cutting ¼” all thread, 5/16” hex bolts, solid copper ground wire, solid aluminum wire, pin terminals and ACSR wire…These bolt cutters performed as indicated, intended and expected without any problems the cuts were always clean…

A great deal for the pair of bolt cutters. With both sizes you’ll have wider compatibility with a range of tasks. Adjustable handles work well and are retained by rotating locking sleeves. Definitely well built and should last a long time.

The Milwaukee 24 in. Adaptable Bolt Cutter with Powermove is a heafty and strong cutter tool that is solid and doesn’t shy away from the big cuts. The adjustable handle shafts extend leverage from the main pivot between 20″ to 26″ and with a little effort, had the strength and ability to cut my 12″ rebar steel rods. Storage of this unit is manageable with the handles collapsed and the grips have large rubber covers that make cuts easier and more comfortable on the hands. The bolt cutter is Well built, has easy knurled knob adjustment sleeves, comfort grip handles and should last a lifetime!

These bolt cutters have incredible leverage! I tried cutting a 7/16” bolt with these cutters, and found it too tough to squeeze through. I extended the Powermove handles, which increased my leverage, and snapped right through the bolt. The collapsing handles keep these cutters more portable. These are a great value and a key addition to my tool set.
