This is Milwaukee’s “baby” 10’ tape measure. This thing is small (maybe even cute) and easily fits in your hand—see Photo 1. It’s great for putting in your pocket when shopping for lumber or other things you might need to measure in the store. Note that it also includes a metric scale, 10 lumen LED light (see Photo 2), magnetic back, and keychain clip. It requires two CR2016 batteries for the LED light and they’re included (and pre-installed). Note that you must pull a plastic battery protector strip out before you can use the built-in flashlight.Because I use the tape in my woodworking shop, the most important characteristic for me is accuracy. I put all new measuring devices through an accuracy test before I use them—tape measures must pass for both inside and outside measurements. This Milwaukee tape was dead-on.I keep the tape measure in my apron or in my pocket, and would normally remove the lanyard on this type of tape measure. The one on this tape measure, however, is short and has a useful clip on the end—can be used for hanging the tape on a nail, for instance. I don’t know if I’ll ever use the built in LED light, but if you’re measuring inside cabinets or other dark places, I can see how it would be helpful. The magnet at the back is surprisingly strong (see Photo 3). It easily holds the tape measure to a metal surface—in Photo 3 it’s attached to a file cabinet.It’s rated to have a 4’ standout, I was able to get 47”, but, again, because I use it in my shop, standout isn’t important to me. Overall, it’s a great little tape measure and it comes with a life time warranty.

This tape measure is my everyday tape measure as most of the measurements that I make are under 10 feet. I had broken my 6 foot tape measure and Milwaukee replaced it at no cost and even increased the length when I mentioned that I would pay the difference between the 6′ tape and a 10′ tape.

The standout on this small tape is awesome. The LED is nice but it makes it thicker than a tape measure this size should be. 10′ is a good length for a lot of things but it needs to be more compact to carry everyday. And a belt clip is a must. It’s too big for a pocket which makes it difficult to carry.
