This hammer is a huge upgrade from my 10 year old wooden handled hammer. I didn’t know what I was missing in a hammer until I got this one. The rubber grip is really comfortable and reduces vibration/sting when hammering. The hammer is also very balanced. It has a light feeling with a heavy duty swing. I would be happy with just those, but this hammers best design item is the nail starter notch. The top of the hammer has a groove, notch and magnet to hold a nail for a starter swing. A simple design, but what a great idea. Never again will I bust my thumb while trying to hold a nail while doing a job. I will say getting used to the accuracy of the nail starter was tough at first, but came pretty quickly after one job.

The Milwaukee 20 oz. curved claw smooth face hammer is one heck of a nice tool. The hammer is extremely well balanced and the grip dampens vibration extremely well. The compact bell and large face of the hammer make for an impressive striking area. The face is also finish smooth. The magnetic nail holder does function however old habits are hard so I don’t find myself needing/using it. I would most definitely recommend this hammer to anyone looking for a solid tool or a nice upgrade.

This is a great hammer. Well weighted, comfortable grip and easy to use. First, the hammer has a 20 ounce head on it and this allows for easy handling for long jobs. Swing is smooth and direct. The claw is long while the slot is wide enough to accommodate most larger nails and comes to a good close to grab those pesky finishing nails. The head also has a magnetic nail set that allows you to start a nail and save your other hand from accidentally hitting the ‘wrong nail’ (finger nail, that is!). The finish on this hammer is a quality finish and I don’t expect that this will Rust very easily at all. All in all, I really do like this hammer.

Great balance, good weight, great gripping handle. I like the magnetic nail holder feature at the top of the head, it works pretty well. Very happy with the tool.

I’m guessing that the hammer is man’s oldest tool. Yet this hammer has an upgrade that I’d never seen before: it has a magnetic nail set that holds a nail in place on the hammer for an initial strike. Neat! The magnet is very strong and holds the nail very securely. The claw hammer itself is forged in one piece so there’s no chance of separating the head and handle. It is designed for vibration reduction, balance, and comes with a lifetime warranty. It’s an excellent hammer.

A hammer for the new century. I was blown away by a feature on this hammer I have never used before. That is, there is a small magnet and slot to hold a nail on the hammer head itself. This means if you are hammering in nails you don’t have to hold it on the board with your fingers and possibly hit them when starting. It’s a total game changer in my mind. The number of times I have hit my thumb and cursed when starting nails is beyond count. Brilliant. Other features, this hammer has a nice heft. It has a good sized head, about 1.3 inches if not 1.5. The rubberized handle keeps any resonance from reaching your hand. And the claw easily removes nails.

One may ask how much different can one make of hammer be from one to other and my answer is very different especially when it comes to this one. I’ve always been a fan of Estwing and they’re great hammers but I’m always open to things from Milwaukee and this hammer doesn’t disappoint. Its grip like gen 2 of most of their hand tools is the best I’ve felt from any tool maker. If you’re looking for a quality hammer with look no further.
