Very nice set of sockets. Replacing/Upgrading my Mid-matched Pittsburg and Craftsman sockets with this kit. Removable trays are nice if you want to put them in a tool box, though the lay-flat deep sockets take up more space than if you put them on rails. Red and black trays make it easy to distinguish between metric and SAE. The trays hold the lay flat sockets nicely, a little snap but not difficult to insert/remove.Every metric sizes 5mm thru 19mm included, plus 5.5mm, in both standard and deep. No skipped sizes. SAE sizes 5/32 thru 7/8” standard and deep, with 1/4 drive is 1/32nd increments up to 3/8”, then 1/16” increments on up. Includes 15/16” and 1” but in standard depth only. There is a reasonable amount of overlap in 1/4” drive and 3/8” drive sizes.Sockets have large, easy to read, deep engraved sizes on 2 of the 4 flat sides. Flat sides should help prevent sockets from rolling away and I’m interested in trying using them with a wrench. Sockets are all 6-point rather than 12 points, so they are unlikely to round a fastener or have a nut or lock washer jam inside. Only downside is they can’t be used on 12-point fasteners, but those are pretty uncommon.Ratchets are fine toothed for minimal arc swing, heads are thin/low profile compared to some other ratchets I own, which makes them easier to fit in tight spots. The ratchets don’t have a socket release button on the back, but the sockets aren’t too difficult to remove. It is kind of lame/odd that the engraved “Milwaukee” on the ratchet handles are a generic font not the Milwaukee logo with lightning bolt.Definitely other brand socket sets out there for less money, possibly with more “pieces”, but this is a very solid, comprehensive 1/4” and 3/8” socket set, with very high quality components. No fluff on the component count either (sometimes they advertise “100 Piece Mechanics Tool Set!” but 50 pieces are screw driver bits and hex keys).The Packout compatibility is a nice bonus.

I have a 1/2-inch Milwaukee Tool drive set with the new anti-roll sockets and really appreciate the high quality of the product through past experiences with its use, in part because the sockets are wrench-ready with the drive ratchet having 4 degree arc intervals between catches. This set completes my socket set needs with what I consider the best or close to it in appearance and quality, all at competitive retail pricing. The drive extensions include shaft knurling that affords an extra boost while startiing fastener driving or ending fastener removal by hand. Excellent set of sockets with very rugged case!The square sockets are amazing since they don’t roll away and you can put a box end wrench on them if your short on space.The rachet has a very fine teeth mechanism that makes you get the most out of each turn. The chrome finish on everything is flawless.The only thing I might want to see in the future is a deeper marking for the sizes, it is laser etched and looks great right now, but that could wear over the years.

Milwaukee 3/8-inch . and 1/4-inch Drive SAE/Metric Ratchet and Socket Mechanics Tool Set with PACKOUT Case (106-Piece) is a ratchet set consisting of a large assortment of sockets in two sizes. The sockets are steel forged and heavy chromed, well done to a high standard. This package is two full sets in one and possibly four or more depending on how you count. What I mean is not only does it have 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch sets, but they are double sets with both regular and long socket ends in SAE and Metric sizes. Usually, these are different sets sold separately. It also includes as accessories extension bars and two universal swivel joints. I’d describe it as the Milwaukee deluxe set. They seemed to fill the case until they ran out of room. The case itself, PACKOUT capable, is solidly done with heavy duty clasps, tough hinges and a rubber gasket around the lid. It comes with three removable trays that holds everything, one for SAE, another for Metric and a smaller tray for the two socket drivers. The trays hold everything securely with openings marked for each socket so you can keep it all straight for quick access. It all fits as part of the Milwaukee PACKOUT system or used separately. The socket array includes 1/4-inch sockets: both standard length and deep well, run from 5/32-inch up to 9/16- inch and metric sizes, 5-mm to 15-mm. The 3/8-inch sockets include: standard length ones from 1/4-inch to 1-inch and deep well from 1/4-inch to 7/8-inch. Metric sizes, both depths, are 6-mm to 19-mm. The socket drivers included have a slim head where sockets snap on and off, no locking button. They include a standard forward and reverse toggle lever. The arc swing is 4 degrees with 90 teeth for turning which is helpful when used in tight spaces.Milwaukee I’ve noticed is always trying to improve tool designs. Here they changed the socket shape in the set to a boxed square end that attaches to the driver. This shape also accommodates an open or box hand wrench to turn it. It can be used this way to loosen a bolt when the ratchet can’t reach down into tight spots. This is especially useful to me since I have a set of stubby wrenches that come in handy here. The obvious other benefit in the square end design, flattened sides keep sockets from rolling around. I own several sets of socket wrenches put together over the years and these are the best both in quality and completeness all in one set. For those putting together a set should consider this wide range of sockets that will last a life time. Milwaukee includes an excellent no hassle lifetime guarantee.

If you ever wanted to add force with a wrench to a socket but the standard round socket wouldn’t hold a wrench or vice-grips without slipping – This set of square sockets is an answer to that old problem! The sockets have four flat sides; are stamped with their size; are forged; and are chrome plated. Sockets are both SAE and Metric, from 5/32″ to 1′ and 5mm to 19mm, with standard and deep versions. There are 50 standard and 48 deep sockets. In addition, there are short (3″) and long (6″) extensions for each drive, as well as a “corner” joints for each drive. The 1/4″ and 1/2″ drives are very slim profile heads with their directional lever (clockwise or counter-clockwise) being recessed. A thin-line Milwaukee PACKOUT modular storage system case is provided, only about three inches in height. The case is a very strong case with two heavy duty locking clips, in addition to obvious protective corners. There is a rubber O-ring inside the cover that should keep out water and moisture, but I wouldn’t take the case underwater! Lastly, the three trays, one for SAE sockets, one for Metric sockets, and one for the drives, are easily removed from the PACKOUT case and could be stored in a low-height pull-out metal drawer in a professional rolling toolbox. Overall, this is a very well-designed SAE & Metric tool set that should handle 95% of everyday mechanical repairs where 1/4″ and 3/8″ drives are ample to remove and install the fasteners involved.
