Very solid hammer, only wish that Milwaukee would offer replacement handles for this hammer. They use a specialized “eye size” so standard tear drop shaped replacement handles will not fit this model.

No complaints especially for the low price

Feels good in hand and the weight is just right. I think it’s stupid they make most heavy wooden handled hammers for framing only. Plenty of people want smooth faced wooden handled hammers in this general design.

I was in construction for 35 years. I’ve used them all. Used to use a Hart 21 religiously. This is just as good. Would recommend this to anyone ! Great Tool !

During the years, I’ve had a number of hammers, mostly claw hammers but also dead blow, tack, sledges and mallets but this is my first framing hammer. Now I know what I was missing! None of the claw hammers that I own have a striking surface as large as this smooth face framing hammer! It also has a magnetic nail set built in that would have saved me a lot of pain from smashed fingers! Some of the hammers I inherited from my Dad have wooden handles so I’m familiar with the shock absorbing capacity as opposed to metal handles with rubber grips. What surprised me is the balance difference between the claw and the framing hammers. The framing hammer is much better at driving nails. This particular hammer has something called an “anti-ring claw” that doesn’t leave a mark when pulling out a nail. However, it’s not a hammer for doing finishing work. Tomorrow, I have some fence mending to do and I’ll probably use some spikes but I suspect that my shoulder won’t be as sore as it usually is because I have this new tool and won’t need as many swings to get the job done. This is another quality product from Milwaukee and I’m happy to own it!

I love this hammer. I sometimes don’t like the smooth face but other times when I use certain types of nails it works better. All around good hammer. This is one of those take care of it and pass it on to your sons hammer. Fit and finish of this thing is top notch. Who every came up with the claw part of it reall put some thought into it because it works fanatastic compared to the older style hammers.

This 19 ounce smooth face hickory hammer is a work of art!It is of precision balance design. The axe style curbed handle is made of naturally dampening shock absorbing American hickory. It also has a built-in magnetic nail set (holder). That’s a first for me and I really like it. Probably save a few smashed finger tips in the future. The component are made in the USA, but it’s assembled in China – huh.It has a limited life time warranty.I love this beauty and looking forward to use it at every chance I get!

Been wanting a smooth faced framing hammer, and the rigging axe handle is a must for me on the job. This works awesome, because I can frame and not worry about a waffle imprint on finish stuff.

Great balance. Just wish they made a 16 oz. for finish work.

Did not use it for framing. Used it for demo on drywall, wood framing structures and exterior wood siding and trim. It has the perfect head weight, and the hickory handle can be sanded down for a custom grip.

Got the job done. Looks great and for the price, can’t complain.

I’m picky about hammers and this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. It’s a great all-around hammer. The handle is sturdy and the fawn’s foot at the bottom gives it a secure feel when swinging it hard. The handle being wood absorbs so much more shock than my old steel-frame!

The Milwaukee smooth face 19 oz framing hammer has a great swing. I was testing it side by side against a 22 oz steel framing hammer and I think it drove the nails just as easily as the heavier hammer. The smooth face will be a good deal more forgiving on the surface you are working with, and more forgiving on your thumbs should you have an errant swing. The only possibly concern I can see with the hammer is that the handle has a really smooth glossy finish, and in the summer time I could potentially see a grip issue if your hands get sweaty. Just something to keep and eye on, and I think it would be easily remedied with a little tape to improve your grip.
