This Milwaukee 30 degree Knuckle Bit Holder is not something that you will use often but it is something that you will need if you do work in tight places with a 1/4 inch impact driver or any drive tool drive that uses the 1/4 inch hex style drive system. The tool works like a CV joint on a car. It still turns easily when it is swiveled into the 30 degree offset position and allows the driver unit to be out of the way. You do have to hold onto the knuckle bit holder or the whole tool will turn. It’s pretty easy to do and fairly easy to use as a whole. The set comes with 5 commonly used SHOCKWAVE short bits but I suggest having a nice full set of bits on hand. Any hex bit will fit in the knuckle bit holder but obviously only the short bits will allow the most clearance. Here is where there is a slight problem with this tool. When the short bit is inserted in the holder it is held by a magnet AND an internal tensioning ring that fits into a slot machined into the hex drive well of the tool. It took me 30 minutes, lots of close inspection and a different kind of impact to get that first phillips bit out of the bit holder. Once removed I saw that an internal tensioning ring was actually what made the bit hard to get out. Longer bits were simple to pull out because there was more sticking out to grasp. However, using longer bits would defeat the purpose of using this knuckle to get more clearance. It does appear that the internal tensioning ring could be removed with little trouble and that would still leave the magnetic holding device intact. Another small complaint is that this tool was packed in a bullet-proof plastic blister pack that was a challenge to open. In summary I rate this as a good tool for those situations where you need to drive a fastener in a tight place. This beats the heck out of trying to use one of those stubby screwdrivers!

This is an awsome tool for those tight areas that an extension or the 90 digree tool wont work!! My first one lasted about a year and a half. Buying another one now . Just wish these were still in stock at the local home depots which is why it is only getting a 3 star

Perfect for driving screws when there isn’t enough space to get the proper angle. We have all wanted to use our drill driver/impact driver but couldn’t because there wasn’t enough clearance due to length or the width of the driver. This allows you to hold the power driver on an angle and still have the screw on the correct angle. It actually works. It works best at either straight or on the 30 degree angle and they give you a nice grip so you can steady the bit with your free hand. It is more difficult to control at in-between angles because it doesn’t lock in except for the 30 deg. Standard bits from other brands do fit. Two reasons I withheld the extra star. At first, I couldn’t get the bit out of the bit holder. The spring clip ring is so tight that it wouldn’t release so I had to spray in some lubricant then work it around before the bit would pull out. Also, the packaging is diabolical. Required several tricky cuts to release the tool and no where does it tell you how to release the bit.
