This Milwaukee 9” diameter 72 tooth aluminum cutting blade powers through 3/16” aluminum like cutting through wood. The resulting kerf is precise, clean and smooth. I also cut a piece of 3/8” Plexiglas. The cut was as precise and clean but with a minor amount of spalling along the edge on one side. It is possible that a slower feed might reduce that. I do not own a hand held saw with a one-inch arbor or for that matter a hand held saw that can accommodate a 9” blade. I used this in a corded 10” bench saw with a 5/8” to 1” adapter to clean up some scrap to try it out with great results. In the past I have used either a jigsaw or reciprocating saw to make these cuts and then had to clean them up by filing or grinding. Very difficult to get a long smooth straight cut that way. This is a very nice and welcome addition to my workshop. One negative is the packaging. It definitely protects the product – with vigor! It would have been nice if the packaging could be more easily reused for storage between uses. It is very difficult to initially remove the blade from the package and getting the blade in and out through the opening made in the back of the package is difficult when using it for storage.

The Milwaukee 8″ metal cutting blade definitely will get the job done. I use this blade in a Milwaukee m18 cordless metal saw, and I’m impressed with how smooth the cut is. The blade definitely lasted a good amount of time as long as you dont force it through the cut. The last thing you want to do is to increase the heat the blade gets from cutting so let it do the work.

9 in. Carbide Tooth Metal Circular Cutting Saw Blade. Designed for softer metals, aluminum, brass, copper and plastics / fiberglass. Fairly thin blade. I’ll use mine to do some wood cutting. This blade has 72 teeth. Arbor size (center hole) is 1 in. I’ll need a 1 in to 5/8 in. adapter to use it on my saw. If you are going to store the blade, I’d modify the original plastic packaging and store the blade in that. Will protect your hands from the sharp teeth.

I had to install a Plexiglas shield at a service counter which required cutting aluminum trim and Plexiglas panels. I purchased a Milwaukee cordless metal cutting saw to go with this blade and it did the job. The blade works well with the Plexiglas with just a little gumming up from the heat and friction. It handled the aluminum trim pretty easily and was a lot easier cutting than with a hacksaw. This is a good quality blade.

Excellent blade for cutting brass/light metals. This blade ripped through brass pipe with ease and without sharp edges – barely had to sand it down. Zero vibration while cutting! No heat or hot shards flying out – keeps it “cool” when cutting. 54 teeth provide this blade with smooth cutting and very few shards flying. Not recommended for 18-20v power tools, but with corded saw – this blade is a dream to cut light metal. It’s made in China, but with professional grade and according to Milwaukee standards. This Milwaukee Metal Cutting Saw blade actually needed to list Non-Ferrous Blade in its listing. As for its cutting ability it is actually very good for aluminum, copper, brass, fiberglass and most plastics. For a 14-inch blade with a 1-inch arbor it will fit a chop miter saw or a powered cut-off saw. The cut-off saws now come in gas or battery powered units. If you are working in an aluminum fabrication shop this would be a must have because the cuts are that clean, needing no additional preparation to go to the TIG welder. The other materials are generally cut by miter saws only in pre-fab home construction on a demanding basis that would call for this blade. In my case using a blade like this with such a narrow material base does not compare. There are too many blades in this size range that will cut all of these materials PLUS ferrous metals (iron & steels), along with woods. The pictures below would have shown a complete comparison of the blade cuts; however, my neighbor took his Aluminum and Copper blocks that were cut back before I hand a chance to get the picture, due to a call back to work. The cuts were however, extremely clean for both saw blades. This blade is an excellent choice for the fabrication professionals who do not use wood or ferrous metals. For that reason and those areas only would you find this blade an excellent choice.

I was extremely impressed by the quality of 12 inch circular saw blade. The cobalt infused tungsten carbide cutting tips cuts real well into almost any kind of metal, plastics and fiberglass. I use it to cut pvc piping and will probably last my lifetime. It also works extremely well on cutting fiberglass that I use on my shower wall. What makes this blade special is that there is no vibration because of the vibration slots placed strategically into the blade. I have one picture showing these holes with the use of a pencil. No need to worry about heat buildup because this blade cuts very cool. I got the blade with this many teeth because there are no/little burrs so I don’t have to bother with sanding. Excellent value if you use this type blade often.

“Metal” Cutting?For SOFT METALS, this blade works well. I tested it on an aluminum threshold. Not only did it cut cleanly, (see photo) but the aluminum was cool-to-the-touch afterwards.Later I tested it on PVC pipe and PVC stair balusters. It cut those soft materials easily, as you would expect. Although I recommend faster feed-speed for plastic materials because slow-feed can cause plastic to melt. This blade is thin. That’s why it can claim to be “optimized for cordless” saws. The idea is simple; A thin blade requires less force to cut stuff, and therefore, uses less battery power. However, cutting SOFT metals is not very demanding. It’s often LESS demanding than cutting wood. You’d have to cut a LOT of thick aluminum before depleting any decent battery. Therefore, the “optimized for cordless tools” meme is largely irrelevant. That brings me to the only criticisms I have, which are NOT about the blade itself, but the WAY it is described on the HD website and the blade. Instead of saying it is a “metal cutting blade,” the product description should say “for SOFT metals,” or say “for NON-FERROUS metals.” But it DOES NOT say that in the description. That only says, “Metal Cutting Circular Saw Blade.”To be fair, if you look VERY closely on a LARGE monitor, it says “Aluminum” right on the product photo, AND in some tiny side-bar photographs.But if you only read the product description you would NOT know this is ONLY for SOFT NON-FERROUS metals. And if you quickly viewed these product photos on a small phone, you could easily be led astray.I offer that information to help others avoid mistakes.Another point of contention is the advertising statement: “Optimized for cordless AND corded performance.”That makes NO sense. There ARE ONLY TWO types of power saws: 1-corded, and 2-cordless. It cannot be “optimized” for BOTH. That is as silly as saying, [This heater is] “…ideal for large AND small rooms.” Although a thin blade may require less power to use, it cannot make electric current from your outlets last longer. It can “be optimized” for one, or the other, but NOT both. That’s what “optimized” means!But to say it is “optimized” for BOTH types of tools is a confusing corruption of language and logic. Likewise, there is no need to say these are “professionally” made in China. The term “professional” means work is done to earn wages. ALL commercial products are made “professionally” in that sense. Adding that unnecessary term does NOT fool intelligent readers into believing these are inherently better than other blades that simply and honestly say, “Made in China.”It would serve Milwaukee well to hire advertising people who don’t confuse customers with silly illogical statements, or deceptive superfluous verbiage. After all, we KNOW that the appearance of a product package is important for favorable marketing images. So you KNOW that many people had to READ those words before the final design was approved. Yet apparently nobody noticed these glaring illogical statements. Hire anyone who reads English at a fourth-grade level to proofread your ad copy and product descriptions. Get someone to view these webpages on a modern mobile device so they can SEE what customers might see. Apart from the misleading product description, the light grey lettering on a white blade against a white background which is hard to see on a small screen, and that nonsensical advertising fluff, I can recommend this blade for SOFT NON-FERROUS metals like Aluminum, Copper and Brass. This blade could be used for PVC plastics in a pinch, but there are other blades specifically designed or “optimized” for those materials because they prevent melting. In fairness to Home Depot and other Chinese blades, you should search the normally excellent Home Depot website for “aluminum cutting circular saw blade.” There you will find other SOFT METAL cutting blades that are not only labeled correctly, but cost much less.

Milwaukee 8 in. x 60 Carbide Teeth Metal Cutting Circular Saw Blade is designed to cut non-ferrous metals (aluminum, brass, copper, etc.), plastic, fiberglass and thin metal up to 3/32-inch. It has cobalt infused tungsten carbide tipped teeth that runs cooler. It is substantially for softer materials without high iron (ferrite) content. Other more common blades are for ferrous metals. This blade has more teeth than the ferrous metal cutting blades and gives a cleaner cut in softer materials. With ferrous blades, feeding the material too fast can jam it and damage a tooth or send plenty of metal shavings flying. With plastic and fiberglass material this isn’t the same problem, the more teeth will result in a cleaner cut. It states on the package it is clog free, and has thin slots you can see in the photo’s to dampen vibration. I tried this blade out and had no problem, still very new. Milwaukee makes good saw blades so this should last when used with care and avoid the harder materials.

I have been a builder and remodeler for 50 years, and as such I have had many occasions where I had to cut aluminum and plastics. But while I could use other blades like a wood blade or others, often it is better if I an just use the blades made to cut the material. For example, this MILWAUKEE 10 IN. X 80 CARBIDE TEETH METAL CUTTING CIRCULAR SAW BLADE. I recently used it to cut some aluminum and also some PVC trim, and it cuts cleaner and easier than a wood blade.

The Milwaukee Brand, 7 in. x 54 Carbide Teeth Metal Cutting Circular Saw Blade is designed for cutting soft metals and plastics. My interest in trying this blade on my metal cutting circular saw was to cut aluminum as aluminum is a very difficult metal to machine cleanly. If ever having used a file on aluminum, the file teeth will load and plug almost immediately. Plastics I have cut successfully with a standard circular saw and a fine-tooth carbide wood cutting blade. And Pipe I use for plumbing, I prefer to cut with a pipe or tubing cutter to avoid getting chips inside the pipe. Milwaukee’s 2-3/8 in. Ratcheting Pipe Cutter, Cuts PVC, CPVC, PEX, Rubber Hose, ABS cleanly and squarely with amazing ease and speed. However, be sure to check the rotational speed of any circular saw before installing this metal cutting blade on it as the blade has a maximum safe speed rating of 4,500 RPM. Most circular saws not designed for cutting metal have speeds well in excess of 5,000 RPM. I do not have any aluminum projects going at this time, yet I did try the blade on some aluminum I had in the workshop and it cut or rather machined, the aluminum as clean as a whistle. Perhaps not as polished as steel cutting saw blades achieve, yet beautifully clean and finished non the less. The 7-inch blade produced cuts though aluminum as deep as 2-inches on my metal cutting circular saw. However, other saws may cut deeper with this blade as my saw accepts blades larger than 7-inches. The package the blade comes in is designed, if carefully opened from the back to be used for storing the saw blade when not using it on the saw. I thought that packaging usefulness on Milwaukee’s part is just one example of the refinement that goes into all the tools and products Milwaukee make.
