The MILWAUKEE RED HELIX Cobalt 5/16 in. Drill Bit are engineered for extreme durability and longer life in hard metal applications. The Milwaukee Cobalt drill bits are designed with a VARIABLE HELIX that includes an aggressive 35° Helix Angle which ends at 15°. The drill bits have QUADEDGE TIP to decrease heat buildup and drill faster. The 135° split point tip delivers a precision start and prevents walking for fast, accurate holes in Hard Metal, PVC and wood. The tapered drill bits feature a new ENHANCED TAPERED WEB that strengthens the bit’s core to increase flute durability. The cobalt twist drill bits are ideal for tough applications, providing up to 15X life vs. Black Oxide Drill Bits.
- Cobalt alloy for up to 15x life vs. black oxide drill bits
- QUADEDGE TIP designed to decrease heat build up and drill faster
- ENHANCED TAPERED WEB strengthens the bits core

Its an odd size but needed it for my application. Cobalt bit should last for a long time

the drill bit is a little expensive but it performs very well

These are the best bits I have ever used. They last through many uses on heavy steel. (I recommend going slow, and putting a drop of oil on the tip every 30-60 seconds.) I used this bit to drill 10 holes thru 1/4” steel, then thru a bunch of rivets, and it is still sharp!

Broke off an exhaust bolt and had to drill it out. (in place) Bought the 3/16 Cobalt as my starter size and also the appropriate size called for, to tap out the threads. I was surprised how easily these bits drilled through the old steal bolt.

I would like to take back my negative review for 7/64 Milwaukee Cobalt bit . The hole I was trying to drill was at the angle and at a difficult location. The drill bit is excellent. I never seen a bit flex so much and not break.P.S. HD, fix the picture and a title for the review pop up. It does not match the link!

I tried several bits to drill through hard steel. This one was, by far, the best and most durable bit that I used.

Quickly and repeatedly went through the 1/8″ angle iron

HD really wanted this review done; sent two requests. So, ok. I’ll write a review on a tiny, 1/16” drill bit. Here goes. I secured the drill bit in my drill, put the tip on the mark I’d made on my steel bathroom door, pulled on the power trigger and….drilled a hole. The tiny drill bit met my expectations. Well, there you go. Review done.

I have doors that are made from recycled wood. I tried to drill holes through the door with a cheap-o drill bit I had and it took over 10 minutes to get one hole drilled. I bought this drill bit, and it turned that time into 10 seconds per hole. I wish I had purchased this before making the first hole.

Great price and good bit!

I bought this to drill through a metal plate that I could not see inside a brick wall. It did not go through. I tried it on some scrape metal and it went through clean and fast so not sure why. The other issue was I bought a Milwaukee bit extender to reach through the wall and this bit would not in fit the 1/4 inch holder.

bit works great slow speed, we drill 15-20 sheets of steel roofing at a time 20 holes each sheet. lots of drilled feet by the end of the day. not the best bits in the world but will certainly work great if you know how to take care of them during use.
