I have nothing to say about Milwaukee tools except good things. Their quality has always been outstanding and top shelf The droll tap bits I recently got are no exception. These bits are the handiest things ever to repair stripped threading or tap new threads for projects. These are must haves Ford dry mechanic and handyman everywhere. You cannot go wrong with these

This drill tap bit by Milwaukee is for making threaded holes for 8 gauge machine screws with 32 threads per inch in metal plate, strap, or angle iron up to ¼ inch thick. It is a professional duty product that will last a long time when used with cutting oil. I recommend the product and the manufacturer. The bit is designed for use in Impact Drivers and Drill Drivers

A new “twist” on the traditional drill and tap. This is one tool which is simple to use, durable and a huge time saver. I’ll definitely be buying more.

I like the Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE 8 in.- 32 in. Steel Drill Tap Bit. These little guys are and will come in handy for multiple types of work. i suggest you get a box to store them or you will lose them or misplace them and cant find them when you need. The quality are sufficient. I dont feel like there is anything cheap about these guys. They work for most all drills with adapters. Milwaukee is a tried and true company and these bits are worth the try.

Home Depot’s description of this drill and tap combo is wrong. This is an 8-32 NC tap, not 8in – 32 in. The 32 stands for threads per inch and the 8 is an old machinist’s standard number for the size of the tap and the style of the threads it cuts. NC is National Coarse in reference to the thread profile. This worked very well drilling a hole in hardened steel and then threading the hole with the tap middle of the bit. Very sharp and stiff, and worked much better than trying to use a standard twist drill bit, then using a separate tap to cut the threads.

Saves time and effort. Hard to imagine why any professional or weekend woodworker would not keep one in his/her tool kit.

I’ve used several other brands that break. I’ve had no issues with it. Since this is one solid piece, it’s super sturdy. I see this lasting for a long time!

Great 3 function tool that is designed for use in an impact driver or a drill driver. It will drill the hole, tap the hole, and even countersink the hole if you wish. (The countersink is optional.) The 1/4″ hex bit shank fits right into my impact driver. I applied a few drops of machine oil and in a few seconds had 8-32 threads and countersink in my 1/4″ aluminium! Save time by not changing to 3 different bits to get the job done. Recommended for materials up to 1/4″ thick.

Fantastic bit with great thread-cutting, and countersinking, all in one! I tried this on both 3/32 (thin) aluminum plate, as well as 1/4″ (thick!) plate. It worked easily in both, no cutting oil, wax or fluid needed. For the 8-32 size, this certainly beats searching for a #29 drill bit (unusual!), the tap, the handle, and all the time it takes. Of course, this won’t work for a blind hole (where you’re not drilling all the way through), but it does an excellent job for going all the way through with both the hole and the tap threads. In my video, I show that even in thin 3/32″ aluminum plate, there’s enough room both for a couple of threads and a little countersink. The tapping threads shed aluminum chaf through the drill flutes. I recommend keeping your drill at the slower screwdriver speed, just because tapping requires finesse and torque. I will definitely fill my tool box with all sizes of these combo bits! Thanks, Milwaukee & Home Depot!!

With this, I was able to correct stripped threads in my father-in-law’s overhead light box with ease. Screws now glide in like they should.

Milwaukee Tool 8-32 UNC Shockwave Impact Duty Drill and Tap Bit 48-89-8970 is a stout bit that cuts 32 threads per inch. You use a #29 drill bit with this that is actually .1360” or .0136”. It uses a ¼” shank so you can use impacts. This does a great job. I needed to buy some drill bits and got cobalt jobber length to work with this. Heavy Duty and will cut for a while. You could use this to drill as well. Meant for metal up to ¼” thick. Quality. Durable.

Ever want to be able to drill and tap a hole at the same time? Then the SHOCKWAVE 8 IN.- 32 IN. STEEL DRILL TAP BIT is definitely a must buy! I’ve only used it on a softer metal and it made a hole really easily and tapped the treads with precision and ease. I used a little cutting oil and my handheld Ryobi drill to cut with. The drill tap bit will speed up my future projects.

The Milwaukee shockwave steel drill tap bit works well to both drill and immediately tap into metal in the same operation. I found it to be well designed and operate as expected. One thing to be aware of when using it is to be mindful of the depth of the thread capacity when working with thin material. Fully running the bit through the stock can cause the bit to run out of threads. This is not a huge problem, but can cause a little grief to get the bit out after the tap process by restarting it in reverse. Just be careful to slowly do the tap portion of the job to save some time getting the tool out of the stock.
