It a great accessory to have in your tool box.

I like most tools and products from Milwaukee. This drill tap is no different. It is a real time saver. I actually keep a supply of machine screws that match the drill-tap size and store both together for the occasion when I need to put a new machine screw into a piece of steal. Although this drill-tap is commercial quality, I tend to use it around the house whenever I need to install a new screw or replace a screw because the original is cross-threaded or stripped, which happens sometimes with ceiling fans, electrical boxes, attaching something to a bicycle, spin bike, etc. I use my regular 3/8 chuck drill. Works great and a real savior when I need to replace or add a machine screw.

This is the first time I have tried one of these all in one drill and tap combinations. I always start a tapping operation by chucking the material and the drill in a drill press to make sure that the tapped hole is at the right angle and that the tap stays aligned with the hole. This combination unit works great. As soon as the drill broke through I turned off the drill press and fed the tap portion into the hole by turning the drill press chuck by hand. After the tapping operation was well started I took everything out of the drill press and finished tapping the hole by hand. Finishing the operation brought up one difference in this tap. The shank is not square like most taps. You have to use a hex adapter to turn it rather than a normal tap wrench. The nice thing about having everything in one piece is that you don’t have to find the right drill bit for the hole that you are tapping. I also noticed that the tapping seemed to go very smoothly. I don’t know if this is due to having the exactly right drill size or because this Milwaukee tool is exceptionally sharp.

“Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE 1/4 in.-20 in. Steel Drill Tap Bit” I am usually pretty impressed with the quality of Milwaukee’s product lines, this drill bit in no exception! I used it to add some drain holes to my metal firepit, although not the thickest metal, it was a great test project. It drilled nice clean holes without any issues. The thing I like about it is that its shorter than your normal drill bit, long bits term to break on metal, this should hold up!

Broke my existing 10×20 tap trying to tap 10×20 threads, so elected to buy this combination drill tap bit. Had the tapping done in 2-3 minutes with ease. Will likely buy a full set when available at Home Depot. Obviously I recommend drill tap bits highly.

This Milwaukee Shockwave 10 – 24 UNC (Unified National Coarse) Steel Drill Tap Bit is an absolute time saver. The ability to bring drilling and tapping at a high rate of speed in a single process and into my business changes the game for us. For years we started with a more precision process when drilling (ie. press) and followed with manually tapping each hole. With modern processes, we drill and tap on-the-fly!

One measurement of US Bolts is the number of threads per inch. This drill tap bit not only drills a hole into metal up to 1/4 inch thick, but it also threads the hole at 24 TPI. It combines two separate operations into one. Since it is performing two operations care should be taken during the second step. Once the threads have been made, the bit must be carefully backed out so as to not damage the threads. This is an excellent product and works as per design. The price is very reasonable as this is a precision tool.

Ever want to be able to drill and tap a hole at the same time? Then the SHOCKWAVE 1/4 IN.-20 IN. STEEL DRILL TAP BIT is definitely a must buy! I’ve only used it on a softer metal and it made a hole really easily and tapped the treads with precision and ease. I used a little cutting oil and my handheld Ryobi drill to cut with. The drill tap bit will speed up my future projects.

Great 3 function tool that is designed for use in an impact driver or a drill driver. It will drill the hole, tap the hole, and even countersink the hole if you wish. (The countersink is optional.) The 1/4″ hex bit shank fits right into my impact driver. I applied a few drops of machine oil and in a few seconds had 10-24 threads and countersink in my 1/4″ aluminium! Save time by not changing to 3 different bits to get the job done. Recommended for materials up to 1/4″ thick. Please note this tool is size 10-24, and the website description is incorrect.
