I know these are for metal, but I primarily use them for wood. They are great for temporary jigs where I would normally use a threaded insert. Now that extra time and expense isn’t necessary, and I don’t have to throw out jigs with a bunch of hardware in them when I am finished with them. These are not wood-specific threads so they are not very strong, but they hold well in hardwoods for the 5 or 6 times I need them to. These drill, tap, and countersink all with the same bit. They can be used in a drill or an impact driver and are designed for up to 1/4″ metal.

Works amazingly well! Much faster and just as good as the old method of drilling and then hand tapping. Without all the extra fuss of multiple tools and in the same amount of time that it takes to drill the hole in the first place!

I got this SHOCKWAVE Metric Steel Drill Tap Set to replace an old tap set I had worn out. As I have experienced with other products from Milwaukee Tool, this is a solid, high-quality tool set. I put it to use immediately tapping out 3 holes in a steel vise base so I could mount it permanently to a larger plywood base. It handled the job perfectly. As with all metal drilling, I used lubricating oil to keep things cool, and the SHOCKWAVE drill bit ate through the steel with no problem. Once through, the tap cut the bolt threads effortlessly. The drill/tap left no burs behind for the bolt to hang up on, so the end result was a very clean threaded bolt hole, which holds the bolt securely. Mission accomplished! I recommend this drill set.

Every tool box should have an extractor set. In my use, I had two screws break off of a vise clamp. I used one of the extractor bits, drilled into the screw, reversed, and out the broken pieces came. My vise is now usable again. These are easy enough to use, they appear sturdy, and you can use a drill or an impact driver (the latter is a better choice). They are small enough to get lost so I am going to use a magnetic bar I will put up on the wall to store them. When these are needed, you want to be able to find, use them. They worked great for me; I recommend them.

Another fantastic innovation from Milwaukee Tool. These combination drill/tap/countersink bits are a super time saver. The points on the larger drills are split and back relieved for faster drilling with less force. Just be careful not to ram the drill through and possibly damage the tap and then be VERY careful with the countersink that it does not grab and drill out the threads. They do not say what steel is used but it drills like HSS. I only drilled one hole in 1/8″ thick mild steel but it cut like butter and the tool showed no wear at all. NOTE: do not try to use a regular drill but make sure you use an impact wrench. That is what they are designed for. Be safe and drill and tap with proper safety eye wear on my friend.

This is a useful set of metric drill taps which are a combination of a drill and a tap in a single tool. The leading end of the drill tap is a conventional drill bit. The rear portion of each drill tap has a tapered thread cutting tap. This tool can be used to make a threaded hole can be made with a single pass.It is designed to be used with an impact driver so there is no need to repeatedly stop and back up the tool as would be done with a conventional tap. The process of making tapped holes is much faster with this improved tool.

Comes in very handy when fixing someone’s or yourselfs trigger happy impact when retaping out a hole. No (regerts).
