This Milwaukee shockwave step drill bit will cut fast. It has 21 steps in cuts the 7/8 and the 1 1/8 steps are a little bigger on the step. This step drill bit works amazing! I have used this in both a regular drill and an impact driver it works great in both.

I used this bit for a project to cut some holes in some 1/8 thin gauge steel. It did start easily into the steel and seemed to cut it with not a lot of pressure as well. After drilling about 40 holes to the 7/8″ in mark I looked at the cutting edges and they seemed to look pretty sharp yet. I think the bit will last a long time. I plan to use it on my next project but that will be cutting PVC so I am pretty positive that material will hardly wear out the bit at all. I normally use a drill to drill holes and I think this worked just as effectively and is another good option to have in my toolbox for my projects. Overall I am very happy with how it performed cutting for my project.

This has been by far the best and fastest bit I’ve used. It has two cutting points instead of the usual one I’ve seen, so that is definitely an improvement. I use a regular rotary drill for most tasks, but I did try the impact tool just to see how it worked. I was a little concerned about it getting stuck due to the speed, but it went through without any hesitation. This is a good bit, always have trusted Milwaukee products.

I use the step bit on thinner sheet metal and on my Jeep tub before setting nutzerts. It is a fantastic tool that allows me to get into the sheet metal without running a risk of ripping out the metal and I don’t need to have a massive set of bits every time I need to drill a hole. I planned to use it for drilling into stainless steel sink tops, but I haven’t been able to do so yet.

If you work exclusively with thin steel/tin this might be overkill. If you drill thick steel, this step bit is a must. Keep it wet with oil and it lasts seemingly forever. The impact compatibility keeps it cooler and prolongs life. Highly reccommend

I used these bits with my drill and impact driver and they worked perfectly either way. The bit does not get hot even after drilling through steel. The drilling is fast and the holes drilled are crisp (if they are larger holes). Small holes were not perfect for me. Whereas larger holes came out smooth and round. The markings on the bits for step may wear out after extended use but so far so good. I definitely recommend them for cutting through metal! It’s an important part of my toolkit now.

Made in the USA which is a big plus for me. Milwaukee has been banging out great products for years and this is no exception. I have owned other brands of step bits over the years, but this one stands out because of the precise machining of this particular step bit. I then put this unit to the perfect step bit task of cutting through some thicker sheet metal for an opening of a LP gas burner. It cut it like butter. At this point I have nothing bad to say about this product. I’ve had this in use now 3 weeks, and it has fully met my expectations.

The still 3 bit works great. Has a couple markings for the different sizes, hopefully this will not wear off to fast. I don’t have an impact drill to test it, so used my regular drill. There was no issue doing this. The bit was larger than I expected, but it works well.
