Milwaukee’s SHOCKWAVE Impact-Duty Step Bits are engineered to deliver the most durable and fastest holes in the market. Made with global materials, these step bits have best-in-class performance in impact drivers and the versatility to be used in drills. The hex shank with an optimized Shockzone provide the industry’s most durable shank, reducing early shank breaks. A Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN) coating helps deliver 5X longer life, while the Rapid Strike tip and dual spiral flute produces 2X faster holes. Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE Impact-Duty Titanium Drill Bits with RED HELIX bits feature a new QUADEDGE TIP to decrease heat buildup and drill faster. The 135 split point tip delivers a precision start and prevents walking for fast, accurate holes. The New ENHANCED TAPERED WEB strengthens the bits core to increase flute durability. Titanium coating can be used in all drilling applications to give you up to 5X life versus Black Oxide Drill Bits.

The Milwaukee Shockwave Impact-Duty Titanium Step Bit Set is the best addition I’ve made to my drill/driver tool bag. The compact case that holds the 8 bits I use the most can be carried to the work and easily accessed for the bit size I need. Each bit in the set has a hex shank and is coated for fast drilling and longer bit life. The hex shanks make it easy to guide the bits into the drill chuck and to change bit sizes without fumbling or dropping the smaller drills. The split point tips on each drill make starting the hole quick with less effort for center-punching the hole locations. The bit sizes are marked with large, sharply defined sizes in the convenient, fold out carry case. Each bit is easy to identify and access then replace in the correct position.

This Milwaukee brand “Shockwave” eight-piece impact duty titanium step bit set comes in a very useful carrying case (see picture) which allows the bits mounted on each side of the case to tilt out for easy access (see pictures). These bits all have a hexagonal base so they will not rotate in the impact drill or standard drill chuck. This is an excellent feature which guarantees that you will have no slippage of the drill bit. You can precisely drill. I really like the range of the six fixed bit sizes from 1/16” to 3/16” provided in this step set as well as the two step bits which will cover anything up to 7/8” drilling. These are really high quality, and you will really enjoy having them available for most any drilling project. I highly recommend them!

I’ve been using the shockwave bits for several years now and I’ve had good luck with them for light duty use. This is a handy addition to the sets I already have. The stepped bits are good when you are reaming out a hole. The selection of sizes provided here by the 2 stepped bits covers a pretty good range. And they are very well marked unlike some other stepped bits that have etched markings that are hard to read or simply are not marked at all. Time will tell how well the markings hold up. But given where the markings are they will not be taking the brunt of the abrasions so they should hold up OK. If these hold up as well as my other shockwabe bits I’ll be happy. I’m pretty hard on drill bits and all my shockwave bits are still in service. I’ve broken and dulled a lot of bits over time but these take what I’ve put at them well. I have others I go tto if I’m drilling steel or something but for lighter materials these are grreat. Just don’t try to make them something they are not and they will last a long time. And I like the cases.

So far these are excellent bits. The titanium bits work really well for drilling through metal. I get my best performance using a drill press through thicker steel. Having the hex end helps the bit not slip, especially using a drill press. The bits have a split point to keep the bit from “walking” when using a hand held drill. With the step bits, I would also recommend a drill press for the larger bit because or the torque needed as the steps get bigger. Lastly, the case is very durable and holds the bits well.

This Milwaukee step bit set is very sharp and strong. The sizes/steps are clearly marked on the bits, which really provides great accuracy. The best part is how strong these are. These provide clean, flat holes, with great control over the hole size. Good for: electrical panels, plexiglass, wood, plastics, thin metals, sheet metal, etc.It is helpful that they have the impact capability, as it makes drilling holes twice as fast and easy. Comes with a convenient case, makes it easy to take on the go.The reason why I knocked one star off: on my #1 step bit, the shank size was off by the slightest amount, causing it to get stuck/jammed into my impact driver. I seriously almost lost my favorite impact driver. Fortunately, my son helped, and after a lot of effort, he got the bit removed. All the other sizes fit in both the impact driver and a standard chuck driver. But this particular bit can only be used in our standard chuck driver. Perhaps this was quality control, or just a fluke, but I needed to caution be gentle when inserting… if it feels tight in your impact driver, do not proceed, switch tools.Overall, still an amazing strong, great set.
