I used the saw with an arbor that I already had to cut a shower drain hole through 1/4″ Hardieboard plus 3/4″ plywood sub-floor. The carbide saw went through both layers relatively easy when compared to a bi-metal saw that just skimmed the surface. The Oatey drain fit perfectly in the 4-1/2″ hole. Home Depot had the best price and shipping was free and quick.

Great hole saw! Cuts through wood like butter! Just make sure to get the center drill with the prongs, with a hole saw this big, it will spin right off of a typical threaded center bit without the prongs to keep it from spinning on the threads. It fit my smaller hole saw center bit, but it unthreaded as soon as I stopped. This wasn’t a problem once I got the correct center bit with the prongs!

This is a beast of a hole saw. You need something strong when cutting a hole that big and this hole saw fits the bill. Make sure you have a powerful, relatively slow turning drill. The hole saw fits both of my mandrels perfectly and locks in tightly. The carbide tips are sharp and cut quickly through metal or wood. Obviously drywall is not problem The slots on the side make removal of the slug or coupon easier. This was a great addition to my shop.

Hole Saw 5 inchThis is a sturdy and sharp circular hole saw that cuts a 5 inch hole. Mandril not included, but screwed on perfectly to a mandrel I already have. Carbide teeth should make it last a long time. It is deep enough (cutting depth over 1.6 inches). It has adequate slots around the side to make plug removal easy enough. I’m pretty happy with this 5 inch hole saw.

When your drilling a hole this big you want a hole bit that isnt going to bind up and I want one that is deep enough to cut a 2x without a problem. I am happy with the sharpness and the ease of cutting without it heating up and burning the wood. The chunk of wood is relatively easy to remove also. Be careful not to cut your hand loading it into your driver because this sucker is sharp. I like it a lot. Thanks!

I have been a builder remodeler for 49 years, and as such I have many opportunities to use a tool like this Milwaukee 5 IN. CARBIDE HOLE DOZER SAW. These carbide hole saws are of high quality, and they work very well for work requiring drilling work into more challenging materials that we drill into as we often do. Milwaukee tools are always of high quality as well, so these are a very good example of that.

The Milwaukee 5-inch Carbide Hole Dozer Saw is an excellent hole saw, very durable, and long lasting. I have used various sizes of these hole saws by Milwaukee for years. They cut through wood, nails, stainless steel, shingles, and cement board. Unlike the “standard” hole saw that seems like a one-time-use, this hole saw will last for many uses. This product is only the saw blade and doesn’t include the 3/8 inch quick-change arbor. This arbor is included in kits or can be purchased separately. All of the Milwaukee Hole Saws, 1-1/4 inch and above, use the same arbor so you can just purchase the size saw you need for the job. The arbor screws into the back of the hole saw and then the sleeve slides into two holes in the back to keep the arbor from tightening into the saw and allows the arbor to be easily removed. The saw cuts a hole up to 1-3/4 inches deep. I recommend using a heavy-duty drill motor so that the torque doesn’t damage the motor, especially when using large saw sizes such as this. The pilot drill bit, that is part of the arbor, is slightly longer than the hole saw so that once the bit cuts through the material on the other side, you can remove the saw and continue drilling from the back side to eliminate tear-out.

This one hole saw cost me half as much as a complete set of 10 dozer saws, which sadly did not contain this specific size

Odd size no one carries in the store. Works like it is supposed to. Too bad we couldn’t get it sooner, but it was delivered straight to my house.

Dozer is putting it mildly. Milwaukee Hole Dozers do amazing things to all materials short of concrete. hard working and long life make them unbeatable.

The best thing about this hole saw is that it can be used on multiple materials without a problem. So far it has performed really well on stainless steel sheets and wood. The cuts are clean and smooth, but I do recommend safety glasses as the dust, etc. does spray fast. We have used it for about a month on different projects and there is no wear on the teeth (really sharp). This should be the last one of these I have to buy!
