A diamond cutoff wheel for a grinder is a great blade to have around for cutting metal. This blade is very sharp and can deliver clean precise cuts to your project. Its design really cuts down on debris flying around while your working minimizing the chance of a metal fragment injury. The blade keeps it shape and diameter well and has a decent profile for minimizing cut width with no disk wobble as I have experienced in less expensive blades.

I am making a stand using 2″ x 2″ aluminum from an old lanai. In the past I would have used my 18 volt saws all with a metal blade, but it is hard to control the cut. So having a 4″ electric angle grinder and a small18 volt circular saw already I decided to try this 4″ diamond cut off blade. I like that it can be utilized with a 1/4″- 3/8″- or 5/8″ arbor, there are two reducing washers included. The blade is rated for up to 15,000 rpm’s, which is above what most grinders will achieve anyway. According to the package it will last 75x longer than there standard bonded blades. Having nothing to compare this blade to I have to say so far it seems to be holding up quite well. I have cut aluminum, light weight 1 1/2″ “L” channel, threaded bolts and a piece of 3/8″ rebar. Remember this type of blade is to be used “Dry” so with a little sustain use the blade will get hot. Being this a small diameter blade if needed it could be used in tight locations and it will just about cut anything from copper to stainless. This is the blade that I will leave in my grinder, always ready to go.

After years of using standard bonded abrasive blades, I got this Milwaukee Steelhead Diamond Cut Off Blade and instantly, my chop-saw got “better”. The cuts are straight and clean and, after ten cuts through 2” angle iron, I wasn’t throwing away another worn down blade. I’ve also noticed that it doesn’t build up as much heat as a standard blade and definitely does not smell as bad.

Well worth the cost. You don’t have to worry about it blowing up lime a fiber disc.

Great blade, chews through metal, like a hot knife through butter . Love it.

The 12 inch steelhead diamond cut-off blade was a first for me. I have always used a sawzall to cut metal pipe and channel. I thought I would try this blade in my 12 inch miter saw. I cut some thin gauge 3 in. pipe with ease. It cut 1/2 in. rebar very quickly too. I am not sure this is good for my saw yet. I will find many times that I can use a blade like this. It is a very fine diamond blade to have when needed. I am very happy to own this blade.

Milwaukee’s 4 inch SteelHead Diamond Cut-Off Blade is the Very Best Cut-Off Blade I’ve ever used. I put in on my Milwaukee 18 volt cut off tool and it cut a 1/4 inch thick Angle Iron like butter. Then I cut through a Stainless Steel Shower Door Frame with ease. The diamond cutting edge makes all the difference. I can see this Blade outlasting other blades 20 times longer. Very Impressed and Pleased to have it.

I received this blade from Home Depot in perfect condition. I chose this as a substitue for my traditional abrasive cut-off wheel. It cuts through 1/8 steel like butter. I have it mounted in a chop saw. It’s works great, and dust is very low now. It holds an accurate miter cut. I was able to cut need perfect 45 degree angle cuts in steel profiles. This is a very nice blade. Well made, and fairly civilized. I recommend it as an improvement on basic cutoff wheel discs. It makes much less dust, and runs cleaner than an abrasive whee.

In terms of unit cost this blade may seem expensive, however, if you compare it to the cost of the number of blades it will replace it ends up being a great deal. These blades will cut time and time again without getting dull like a typical abrasive disc. I expect this single blade to last me a very long time for the metal fab projects I have planned.

Very nice blade Milwaukee has come up with, cuts thru metal like it is frozen butter, set up for first try on my miter saw and had some scrap rebar to see how great this new blade is, and took maybe 2 seconds to cut thru the rebar. Seeing as blade is rimmed with diamond chips sure it will last for a long long time. Cuts metal and even stainless steel. Cant wait to use on a project sure it will work great as have always had great luck with Milwaukee products they are always top of the line and always coming up with great new products

The blade says it can last about 74 X longer than a regular cut off blade. I was a little doubtful. See the pictures of the job we took on. About 3000 LBS. of stainless that had to be cut from regular steel to scrap for full value. We used 36 regular blades to cut 1/2 of the work and 1 Milwaukee 49‑93‑7805 4‑1/2″ Steelhead Diamond blade to do the rest. The blade still has life left in it. You do the math. I figured I saved at least 85% on blade costs with the using this blade. It paid for itself after using 9 of the other kind. I still have a very usable productThis blade can produce more sparks so use all safety gear and dress so no skin is exposed. You will also find that using this blade is a bit slower than the other kind. However the saving are well worth it. Remember that for most, this blade will be used in short time jobs. I would probably lose the blade long before I could wear it out.

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT MY THIRD 4 1/2 ANGLE GRINDER AND HAVE USED A LOT ON THE THIN CUTTING BLADES AND THEY DO A GREAT JOB AND HAVE SIMILAR BLADES FOR CUTTING CONCRETE. i GOT THIS 4 1/2 STEEL HEAD DIAMOND CUT OFF BLADE AND USED IT TO CUT SOME 1/2 AND 5/8 RE-BAR. I WAS SURPRISED THIS BLADE CUT AS FAST AND MAYBE A LITTLE FASTER THAN THE THIN CUTTING BLADES WHICH DO A DO JOB BUT THEY DON’T LAST LONG. AS FOR THIS BLADE, IF THE DIAMOND CONCRETE BLADE IS A COMPARISON, THIS TYPE OF BLADE FOR A LONG TIME SAVING ME A GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY.

living on a 4th generation property I have the task of removing a lot of metal left for further use or just disposed of I have to cut up metal of all kinds to fit in the recycle bin. Rebar, welded wire fencing, angle iron, old tractor parts, pipe. I have been using the grit cut off wheels and after use for 15 minutes or so have to replace the wheel because it has worn down to far to use. With this steel diamond cut off blade I can just keep cutting till the job is done. which saves me time.

Works great.Milwaukee has a reputation that follows thru with this diamond cut off wheel. When using this wheel on steel frame jobs it lasts longer and works better than the abrasive type cut off wheels. It’s faster and leaves a neater cut too. With the expected life that should come from these blades, the next time at Home Depot I’ll buy a replacement to have on hand. No more messy discs floating around in my tool box.

Yes, it’s a pricey blade, but if Milwaukee’s claims about this blade hold true, it’s more than paid for itself if you were using any other blade, or abrasive wheel.Milwaukee puts claims that this blade will last up to 75x the life of their standard bonded abrasives, mainly abrasive wheels.I’ve always had somewhat of a safety reservation using abrasive wheels. The bottom line is they have somewhat of a danger factor in their use. Once they start wearing, they have a tendency to break off. With this blade, you don’t have those chances. It is a safe, reliable blade to use for all your metal cutting.Using this blade, it cuts through metal with ease. I wouldn’t say it’s a hot knife through butter, but it’s effortless in it’s cut.I can’t comment on the longevity of this blade, as I’ve not used it nonstop however, after using is for a collective 4-hours, I didn’t notice any wear on the diamond cutting edges of this blade whatsoever. So far, I am very satisfied with this blade, and Highly Recommend it!!!

Excellent buy – cuts through gal. 3″ pipe like hot knife through butter.

Milwaukee makes good tools, and this cutting wheel is no exception to that general rule. When you need a cutting wheel, this one should fill the bill. When cutting steel of whatever format, you need something that will make a clean cut. You could get an abrasive blade, but that can quickly get very expensive, as that type of blade, although cheaper, wears down very quickly. Go with a diamond blade like this one, and you’ll be money ahead very quickly, and it will make much cleaner cuts without the messy workplace that result from abrasive blades.
