The Milwaukee 7″ Diamond Cut-Off blade (on my 7.5″ sliding miter saw) and the 4.5″ Diamond Cut-Off Blade (on my 4.5 angle grinder) work extremely well while making smooth cuts in 2″ angle Iron, 1.5″ angle aluminum, 3″ conduit and 12″ rebar metal. I have not used bonded abrasive products for these task in the past, but a high grade carbide blade product designed for metalwood cutting. The Diamond Grit on these Milwaukee cut-off blades cuts faster and cooler than what I’ve previously used, leaving an almost bur-free finish. After many trim and cutting task, I’ve noticed no wear on these diamond blades and have confidence in their longevity.

I have a small Milwaukee metal saw, but wanted a metal-cutting blade for my 12-inch miter saw. This Milwaukee 12″ Steelhead Diamond Cut Off Blade is one very impressive metal cutting blade, and lives up to the expectations I have for Milwaukee tools and accessories. It slices through all the metals I have tried it on very nicely. I would advise to use a face-shield or goggles when using it, as it does throw off a fair amount of sparks. Now, I want a 7-inch blade and a 4-inch grinder blade like it for my other tools. Thanks Milwaukee, and Home Depot!

A little background… I am remodeling a home with my brother-in-law. We are recycling all the metal removed from the home. (see photos) This included vent pipes, 1/2 ” and 3/4″ galvanized / copper pipes and some very large metal tubing from a custom made arbor. He was using his grinder with a 4″ abrasive disk while I went to work with my Skilsaw using the Milwaukee 7″ Steelhead diamond cut off blade. End result… The Milwaukee 7″ Steelhead diamond cut off blade is outstanding alternative to traditional abrasive disks. Definitely resulted in much faster cutting speeds over abrasive blades. Based on my limited testing you should get a long life out of the blade.

The Milwaukee 12 inch Steelhead Diamond Cut Off Blade worked very well on several different types of metal. I cut 3/4 black gas pipe, 3/4 galvanized pipe, and 3/4 copper pipe. All cut clean. I own a 12 inch Bosch compound miter saw so I had to get the 12 inch Milwaukee blade. I doubt I will ever have a need to cut very large pieces of metal which this saw could handle but it’s a lot nicer than using my hand grinder. Great blade to have in my arsenal for all my construction projects.

If you’ve ever fallen for the hype of a “diamond” blade that ended up dulling or, even worse, breaking, then you need this blade. My husband is a man of few words, but he really liked this blade. It was sharp when he started using it and stayed sharp even after he had used it for several hours.I don’t know how long it will last, but it doesn’t look like it is any danger of dulling or breaking any time soon!

7″. Steelhead Diamond Cut Off Blade is a sufficient product for cutting light weight steel tubing. I even used the cutoff blade on cement siding, it is a dusty operation but completes the job proficiently. I like the balance features of the way it operates during high speed. When operating my saw I noticed that when contacting the material use slow motion is best.

Industrial diamonds have revolutionized stone cutting and polishing, and it’s nice to see them making it into products for the ordinary contractor. I was skeptical, at first, that this blade would live up to the considerable hype. Then I used it. It cuts a little faster than an abrasive blade, but that’s not its real advantage. It lasts and lasts and lasts. I didn’t notice any change in the blade after cutting 1/4″ steel repeatedly. I would have to set up a considerably harder test to really put this blade through its paces. Abrasive blades — use them once, then throw them out. You’ll have a hard time killing this blade. The sparks produced are numerous and very bright, suggesting higher temperatures, but this didn’t translate into significant burning of the cut (no more than abrasives.) There was some buildup on the cuts, but nothing a quick pass with the grinder won’t solve (same as for abrasives, really.) I have no idea how long this lasts, but you’re going to get significant use out of it.

This 7” Milwaukee Steelhead Diamond Cut off blade purports to be designed to the highest standards using quality diamonds. This blade is designed to cut meal and stainless materials. I use this blade to cut copper pipe, iron re-bar, and iron pipe. I use my trusty old 7” Hand Power Saw which I have had for years. I never knew a metal cutting blade could these metals so easily until I used this one. The amount of re-bar I have cut with just this one blade….still cutting…far exceeds any other blades I have used. The high grade diamond grit outperforms and outlasts bonded abrasives.

This blade is absolutely revolutionary for those of us that deal with metal cutting on a regular basis. This is a huge step-up from a traditional abrasive cutting disc, where the abrasive and bonding material typically fade and break away very quickly, this blade has a long life. This blade keeps its diameter with use, unlike traditional abrasive cutting blades. Milwaukee did some internal testing, reporting that this blade is good for 550 cuts in 25-ga steel studs. That is a huge difference from regular abrasives. The blade does leave behind some burrs, and does not make a completely perfect cut, but what does? This blade has less spark-out and burring than an abrasive blade though. It also generates some heat, since it is actually an abrasive blade in how it works. This blade is so much different because it uses diamond grit as the abrasive material, and because of this it can also use a much tougher binder as well.Is this as nice as a cold-cut saw? No, but it is way more portable and achievable for the regular Joe.Overall, this blade is an amazing step up. Yes, I understand the sticker-shock, but you will be very happy when you haven’t changed your blade out in hundreds of cuts and do not have mountains of black grit to clean up. Go for it!

I needed to cut down some outdoor gear to fit into a trash can (the local trash pickup has rules about how things are to be bundled for pickup). I mounted the Milwaukee “steel head diamond” cutoff blade in a Milwaukee M18 Model 2980-20 angle grinder. The blade cut through the mild steel of a string cutter, a grass seed spreader, and a rose trellis with no problems at all. What would have taken an hour or two to do with a hacksaw was done in minutes. After the job I removed the blade from the grinder and stored it in an old DVD case. That protects the blade from damage and also prevents the blade from doing damage to other tools in the bag. The blade worked well and solved a problem for me in short order.HTHJim

I’ve only had a chance to use this a couple of times. Those times though cut the steel tubes I needed to cut easy. This made short work of the tubes as it went through quickly. Since I have only used it a couple of times, I can’t say what the longevity will be, but I am hopeful. I have high expectations from Milwaukee products and am usually not disappointed.
