I have always rented a rotary hammer when needed, and decided to step-up to the new Milwaukee 1 1/8 Inch SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer (5268-21). The first thing I noticed is how well balanced the tool feels and easy to use. At 7.5 lbs and 12.5 inches long, along with a very effective anti-vibration system, it’s designed for all day use. I am very impressed with the tools ergonomics, features and performance. The Milwaukee 5268-21 Rotary Hammer has a powerful 8 amp variable-speed motor, delivering 0-1,500 rpm, 0-5,500 bpm, and 3.6 ft-lbs of impact energy. It has a 1 1/8” hammer drill bit and 3” concrete hole saw capacity. The 5268-21 includes an all metal gear case and mechanical clutch to protect the motor in case the bit binds. It includes three modes of operation: rotation only, hammering, and drilling and hammering. It also has a mode for accurately adjusting a chisel style bit when hammering. A side handle is also included which has an integral depth adjustment rod. It took only a few seconds to drill 1/2” holes through 4 inches of concrete.Overall, I am very pleased with the Milwaukee 1 1/8” Rotary Hammer. It is small enough to be very comfortable performing small jobs, yet large enough to perform the vast majority of tasks most users will ever encounter.

I’ve got a small concrete patio that’s cracked and badly heaved, its got to go. The thought of demoing this with a sledge hammer was less than appealing. I saw this SDS hammer on HD’s site and decided to try it. It ships without any bits so they must be ordered separately. It arrived in a heavy duty carry case that’s large enough to hold all your accessory drill bits and chisels. They do include a depth restrictor rod to control the depth when drilling holes. With a pointed chisel bit installed I attacked the patio. The mode switch has four setting. Drill only, hammer only, hammer-drill and a release position that allows you to turn a flat chisel for the best angle. Once I was setup I made quick work of the patio. The vibration is not as bad as I had expected as the weight of the tool helps with this. Bit installation is a breeze. Insert the bit into the collar and push as you turn it until it clicks into place. To remove, simply pull back on the collar and pull it out. My 10 x 20 foot concrete carport floor needs to be replaced and for that I’ll rent a full-size electric jackhammer but for smaller jobs like drilling holes in concrete slabs, cement blocks or boulders, breaking up small concrete slabs or scrapping up mortared ceramic tile this is the perfect machine.

Product is as described, it does what you would expect a roto hammer to do. The cushioned handle is nice.

Easy to handle, very effective in cured concrete

I’ve gone through three different hammer drills (Makita, Dewalt, Porter Cable) and one rotary hammer drill (Bosch) before purchasing this product. Rotary hammer drills are the only way to go if you’re trying to anchor anything in 3000 psi or stronger concrete. In a word, this tool is EXCEPTIONAL — it’s my first Milwaukee product and its ergonomics, power, and operation are top notch — I used it to sink 30 Tapcon 3/16 x 3 1/4 masonry blue screws/anchors in approximately 10 minutes with the same 5/32 SDS bit. Had I used the aforementioned tools that same job would take a couple of hours and many bits. The tool is light enough to use with one hand (I did many of the above Tapcons that way) but it’s important to grip firmly as the “hammer/rotary” function is only engaged with pressure — relatively easy to do with one hand and the tool bored right into concrete with no problem — its vibration reduction system facilitates this one hand use, although for most users it’s probably better to use two hands. My only complaint about the tool is the manual does not completely articulate, expand on how/when/why the individual tool settings (e.g. hammer) should be used. Some examples here would help the first time user.Other than that it’s a first class product with an incredible 5-yr warranty. I’m thinking this won’t be the last Milwaukee tool I purchase (I marked it down a little in “value” as it seems Milwaukee tools are priced above most of the competition)

Got the job done much faster than old style hammer drill.

If all you need is a rotary hammer drill, then this is a very nice product. If you want to do any type of minor demo work, then this size just doesn’t do well. I needed something to take of a layer of bricks off on my front porch and this was way too under sized for the job. I even had a Milwalkee rep at the store tell me it would do great for my application. Not true at all. I took back the same dayand got the next size up which worked pretty well for demo.

the small size and light weight of this tool makes it great for small jobs. It has a lot power for an SDS-PLUS rotary hammer but no way to adjust it if you’re drilling in soft or thin material

After using a smaller hammerdrill that took over an hour to make 4 holes with our old hammer drill into a dense concrete wall (old drill was also a Milwaukee but entry level cordless drill with basic hammer function) we decided to get this one after hearing reviews as we still had close to 40 more holes to go. They were right. Most holes we could drill in less than 10 seconds and even when we hit rebar we still took only a minute. It absorbed most of the vibration and cut through the concrete almost likely we were drilling into wood. Very impressed. We went with corded as we are mostly drilling on walls and ceilings so the lighter unit the better.

This is light-weight but, very strong, reliable and convenient. I’m glad I decided to get corded.

Muy bueno para mi es el mejor taladro de martillo Milwaukee por su peso y por lo bien que trabaja en el concreto
