Great tool for catching the dust when I’m drilling holes in cement blocks for tapcon screws. Insulating my basement, holding blue board in place with furring strips secured by tapcons. Lots of holes in cement to be drilled. Lots of silica dust. Before, trying to balance my shop vac nozzle under the drill bit was a fussy hassle. This tool makes life a lot easier and my job a lot neater. Dinging one star because the tool doesn’t fit directly on either of my shop vacs. Duct tape alleviated that problem.

I am a contractor who uses tools all the time. As a contractor, I keep up with requirements that we have to meet. One of those requirements is the silica rule which will take effect soon on September 23, 2017. For that rule, it is required that we contain all dust from cutting or drilling concrete and such For drilling concrete this SDS MAX DUST EXTRACTION ATTACHMENT really hits the mark. Hook it up to a vacuum, and you’re good to go.

It seemed to work okay on the hole that I tried so far in drywall. I got it for drilling in block & plaster walls. I don’t know how will it will hold on the rougher wall surface. I have a job coming in the spring that I will be doing those type holes and we will see.Electrical contractor.

The attachment would not fit on my Milwaukee portable vacuum so I had to use duct tape to make the connection which is ridiculous in my opinion if you buy a Milwaukee vacuum and a Milwaukee dust collector attachment they should fit together seamlessly

Received the SDS MAX DUST EXTRACTION ATTACHMENT a couple weeks ago. I love this product it keeps the saw dust from going air borne. I use this in the garage where I have a couple of cars that are kept clean at all times and when using this even if drilling flat on the workbench it keeps the waste material contained and it goes right in to the shop vac. I have used it once in the house on drywall and once again I did not have any mess to clean up. I would recommend this product.

Getting ready for the new OSHA standard, I decided to go ahead and use what I know best, Milwaukee has been good so far with no problems so I’m going to try this out. It seems like a pretty simple attachment, easy to use, I haven’t been able to use it on the job site yet but I uploaded a couple of pictures to give a better point of view than the ones on the page. Hope this helps and it is less expensive than the others I’ve seen. stay safe and current with OSHA standards guys.

SDS Max Dust Extraction Attachmentby MilwaukeePackaging: Red cardboard box with Milwaukee logo and picture of tool.Contents: Operator’s manual, extra brush ring and hose clip adapterFirst Impressions:A handy attachment to reduce air-borne dust and debris while drilling.Description:This is an attachment for a vacuum hose to extract dust and debris will drilling. It has a circular opening on the top toward one end to allow a drill bit to push down between a fine brush ring. The purpose of the brush ring is to help seal the hole around the drill head and bit so that debris is not allowed to pass upward and outward while drilling, and instead is pulled into the vacuum attached to the other end.It carries the red and black Milwaukee colors with their logo in white, all printed on the plastic-bodied tool. It has a rubber seal to ensure containment.Usage:The package states that it is made for 1/4 to 2-3/4 inches, and will work with all Milwaukee brand drills. However, I tested this with other brands of drills to see how it works with them.If you have ever used a drill or hammer drill, you know how it is helpful to pull the cuttings from around the hole. A particularly messy job is drilling into a concrete-based material, or into any masonry, including plaster.I tried it on plaster (something that is particularly dusty) and found it to be excellent. First, the vacuum attached it firmly to the wall so holding the extractor was not necessary. Nice feature. Second, nothing came out around the drill hole, nor did any dust come out anywhere else.I liked the way it worked overall. If I have any complaint, it would be that the device does not attach to standard vacuum cleaner hoses, such a standard shop-type vacuums. I am not sure of the reason for this oversight, except that Milwaukee wants it to only work with their vacuum. But of course any high quality vacuum with fine dust capture capabilities would be just fine.I personally believe it would be a little better to be able to see the hole as it is being drilled. As such, I would like to see a clear view main body.Overall Thoughts:This product works well. If you have the Milwaukee dust extraction vacuum, this is a must-have.

Breathing crystalline silica dust does some pretty nasty things to your lungs that may not show up for years or even decades. Previously, a NIOSH approved dust mask was the normal concrete dust protection for the drill operator. With OSHA’s new rule on crystalline silica dust, Milwaukee Tool has come out a SDS dust extraction attachment that works with a HEPA vacuum to collect air-born silica dust from drilling in concrete, brick or stone. The attachment actually works great. It has a seal that makes it stick to most surfaces with the vac on and it appears to suck up all of the dust from drilling. For its price, this attachment and a HEPA vacuum is an economical way to comply with OSHA’s rule; not to mention protecting your worker from inhaling the dust.

The Milwaukee SDS Max Dust Extraction Attachment works well and does the job as intended. Come with a vacuum adapter clip that provides easy attachment of your vacuum. The value for what you are getting is a little over the top but it is still made with quality materials. It is a solution with OSHA for containing crystalline silica dust while working.

Great product for stopping drywall dust from getting everywhere. I was installing shelves in my house and had to drill quite a few holes in the drywall, with this there was almost no drywall dust to clean up after. I don’t have a dust extractor but was able to hook it up to my Dyson vacuum which provided plenty of suction. What is great too is with the rubber foot around the attachment it produces enough suction to hold itself against the wall, not requiring another hand to hold.

we use this when drilling new light pole anchor bolts. It prevents dust from flying and debris from piling up around the hole.

Very effective at collecting dust while roto-hammering, and it sticks to the wall easily, even on old, spalled concrete. We have been using this extensively with 7/8″ bits and the brush has no wear, and they include a spare, which other brands to not.-1 star because the fitting is non-standard. It’s metric, and fits their proprietary dust vac which isn’t sold at Home Depot, or anywhere else for that matter. To fit to a Rigid vac, you need the hose extension accessory kit, and then you have to trim the 1″ adapter by about 3/4″ to make a tight fit with this attachment. Be sure to use only HEPA filters in your vacuum when using this. Other brands also use this same non-standard fitting size.
