The 11 Amp 4-1/2 in./5 in. Braking Small Angle Grinder (Paddle, No-Lock) delivers up to 3X more durability and up to 50% more power than the competition. Rapid Stop braking feature integrated into the tool stops all accessories in 2-seconds or less. with a 1,400 MWO motor that powers through the toughest jobs, the 6143-31 is the perfect match for industrial users. A grip circumference measuring a full 2 less than the competition, this Milwaukee grinder provides more control and less fatigue throughout the day. The Milwaukee Electronic Advantage includes Overload Protection to maximize motor life, an Electronic Clutch that extends tool life and helps prevent bind-up, Line Lock-Out that prevents automatic start-up after power loss and Soft Start. This Milwaukee grinder is lanyard-ready with an incorporated lanyard loop on the handle. I will have to say after using this corded version I really don’t use my cordless version as often. It seems to get the near constant usage out of the battery version it takes the 12HR battery. Until I went back to using a corded grinder I forgot about the weight factor that battery adds during an afternoon. Featuring a 100% tool-free design, this grinder allows the user to change all accessories, including hubbed product, without a wrench. In addition, the tool-free, burst resistant, adjustable guard allows users to make quick guard installations and adjustments.I was not sure I would like the idea of a No-Lock switch, since I have used the lock on most every grinder I picked up from 3 inches to 9 inches. Locking the tool on was just the first thing you did. After an hour with this grinder in my hand I now wonder why you would ever give a locking switch to a new employee. There really was no problem keeping your hand on the switch. It also seemed like a good idea to be sure you would not have a new user leave the tool on the bench when the breaker blew from ‘hogging’ a little too heavy, on the current project. If there is any of you out there you worked for hours with a grinder at the end of your arm. It doesn’t matter if it was on an auto frame or a newly fabricated flooring system in a high rise. You all can remember watching that ‘other newbie’ set that grinder down only to find out it was not shut off by him, but by a disconnected power line. Generally we only watched the wheel they were using shatter and fly apart injuring no one. I really think this is the grinder every new user should start with now! Even this tool is not idiot proof I am sure someone somewhere will twist the tool and shatter a wheel. I just don’t want to be there for the next one.

Smooth and powerful, there’s nothing more you could ask for. It starts smoothly, you can adjust the gaurd to any position tool-free, and it stops really quick when you let up off the trigger.

This small angle grinder offers a lot of features superior to those of its predecessors. First it has a more slender body and much coverage by “grippy” surfaces. This, in conjunction with the large paddle switch, make it well-adapted to operation with gloved hands. The mechanical brake is highly efficient. It stops the wheel in a few seconds – quicker than one can cautiously lay the tool aside. Hence the danger of damaging the disc greatly is mitigated. Likewise, the lockout on the paddle switch avoids inadvertent operation when laying down or picking up the tool. The guard has a C-fold edge which more thoroughly directs grit and sparks out its leading edge. Further, the ability to index the guard (simply and quickly) greatly enhances the effectiveness of the guard and operator safety. I think this helps me avoid various awkward grips and stances that impair productivity and workmanship. The design of a pin spanner lock nut makes the tool more compact. And the wrench is included with the tool. The spindle lock is right atop the gearhead and, again, conveniently is operated with gloved hands. Additionally, the lock nut features a bale which allows it to be removed (from hand-tight) and restarted without a tool. When hinged down the bale covers and protects the pin spanner recesses! The side handle bears very comfortable ergonomic profiles and incorporates anti-vibration technology. The tool comes with a tote; properly sized so one needn’t dissemble the tool. It also is commodious enough to store some consumables (discs / wheels / cups…). In addition to its valise handles, there are two anchor loops on opposing corners (apparently intended) to accommodate a shoulder strap. However, said strap is not included.

A grinder may not a tool that you use every day, but when you need to cut or grind something that won’t reach your bench grinder or band saw, it is definitely the tool to get the job done. It comes with an excellent Milwaukee bag and assembly only takes a couple minutes. The guard can be strategically placed on whichever side you want, with several positions made possible by the push detent. Attaching and removing the blade goes easily with the provided tool, and the paddle switch with soft start is a definite plus. Anyone who has ever used a powerful router can appreciate a soft start. The motor is very powerful and can easily handle any DIY task that I should ever encounter.

Just got this grinder, so far, seems to be of good quality. Brake stops in 2-3 seconds, not the fastest, but ok. Switch action is a bit hard, requires more force than i'[m used to. Claims to be 4-1/2″ / 5″ however only came with a 4-1/2″ guard. No way 5″ grinding or cutting wheel, or 5″ flapper will fit. will put it to the test and see how it holds up.

I used this to remove some paint from a garage door and a porch. I like that the brake stops the disk within two seconds. The grinder is either on all the way or it’s completely off. I occasionally relaxed my grip for some reason, and the grinder would stop. [We should welcome a power tool that notices when you’re not paying complete attention.] The guard swivels without the use of tools, so it’s easy to keep from spraying yourself with material and sparks. You should familiarize yourself with how it swivels and how it comes completely off the grinder. The Outer Flange Nut has a D-ring on it, so theoretically, you can change disks without using the wrench in the kit. Sometimes, the nut is too tight for the D-ring to work; once the nut came off as the grinder stopped. The grinder weighs 5.8lb, and the cord is about 7′ long. I thought the size and weight made for comfortable grinding. It’s not overly loud on wood. On metal you’d want ear plugs. If you are proficient with angle grinders, you’ll really like this one.

This is a good little grinder for jobs where my 7 inch grinder is overkill or simply won’t fit. And wheels for a 4.5 are a lot cheaper for sure. There is power aplenty here and the size and shape of this grinder make it easy to hold and maneuver. It makes a good addition to my welding setup. The only thing I don’t like is the safety mechanism on the trigger. But all new ones have that little nuisance thanks to our meddling government that thinks you can cure stupidity by making things more difficult to use. I find that mechanism increases fatigue and increased fatigue increases the chance of a mishap. When putting the guard on I was not super impressed by the spring mechanism there but once the guard was on it was actually solid and is super easy to adjust to different angles. The spindle lock is easy to engage and makes installing discs pretty easy. I wish the dimples in the arbor plate for the tool were a tad deeper because the wrench can easily slip out easy if you do not keep constant downward pressure on it when tightening the arbor. But they work well enough. The brake brings the spinning to a stop pretty quickly once the trigger is released. Sometimes the bags that come with tools are of limited usefulness but the one in this setup is pretty nice. The inside is lined with pockets that are the perfect size fold holding quite a few 4.5 inch wheels. The bag is heavy and the zipper heavy and smooth. Unlike many bags this one is a keeper. Very handy for tossing grinder and wheels in the truck as a set. I had a bunch of rusty steel to clean up and this made much shorter work out of the job than the last time I attempted this.

This is a nice grinder. The cord was a pleasant surprise. The cords on a lot of import devices get very stiff when cold. Some are even stiff at room temperature. I sat this grinder in a garage that was a little below freezing and the cord was not nearly as stiff as the one on another grinder. I was using it outside today with the weather in the mid to high 30s. The cord was plenty flexible. The switch is more difficult to operate than my other grinders. Mostly just different and will just take a little getting used to.The braking feature is also a big plus. It will stop the grinder in just a few seconds. With my other grinders, I have to wait several seconds for them to stop so they can safely be sat down. I also like the mechanism for attaching grinding wheels. It seems like a good system. Overall, a very nice grinder.

11 AMP CORDED 4-1/2 IN. OR 5 IN. BRAKING SMALL ANGLE GRINDER PADDLE WITH NO-LOCKI am very happy with all of my Milwaukee tools and this one is no different. They are built well heavy duty and do what they are supposed to. I am a painting contractor so I don’t work with metal. But every now and then I need a grinder to cut or grind down a piece of metal so a good one like this is a great addition to my tool collection. Highly recommend it.

This angle grinder is perfect for light to medium grinding I have used mine to cut tile and also to grind welds The performance of the grinder was excellent the paddle trigger makes it very easy to control it is light weight so it is easy to hold and maneuver I find myself using it more than my other brand of grinder I would recommend this grinder over any other to everyone

I am impressed with how well this rugged, powerful (11 amps), well-built tool performs those demanding jobs (grinding, cutting, sanding and rust removal) that I get into. The ability to handle different wheels and accessories is what makes this small angle grinder so versatile for me. I like the soft-startup feature as well as the braking action when switched to the OFF position. It did take a bit of time for me to get use to the safety interlock release on the power ON paddle switch, but that feature allows me to lay the tool down between uses without worrying about an accidental start up. I also like how easy and fast it is to reposition the wheel guard; no excuse now not to have it in place when working. An added bonus was the heavy-duty storage bag to hold the grinder and all the accessories.

Awesome grinder, Milwaukee makes the best tools on the market. I have some Dewalt but there is no comparison to Milwaukee. I am so happy to have this great tool. Has some weight to it , well built, Love the “No lock” trigger since those are a pain for me. Very powerful motor and great feel. Mine came with a 4 1/2′ metal grinding wheel. The cover guard can be changed or taken off without the use of any tools other your hands, just lift the guard and move it in the position that you want. Comes with a sturdy zipper bag too.I highly recommend this grinder.

This angle grinder is a nice addition to my tools, its packed with the following features.1) Powerful quieter motor. I compared it to my craftsman angle grinder and I found this Milwaukee to have strong, lower noise quieter motor It did not have the high pitch sound that you would expect and have to wear ear plugs. It was much lower sound and I did not feel I needed to wear ear plugs. But do so to protect your hearing. 2) Easy to swing and adjust the Type 27 guard. It has a spring loaded tab, that you can push down and turn the guard easily and it will lock in place to the series of holes on it. See pic. Most other angle grinders have like a clasp you have to loosen to adjust the guard. This is much harder to open the clasp. . Now the only minor hassle was initially installing the guard. You have to match up these small triangle marking on the guard with the really really small triangle marking on the spindle. See Pic 3) Yes, it does stop faster that my other grinder. I found it stopped after only a few seconds, whereas my other angle grinder had to spin down longer. 4) It doesn’t have lock switch which I like, besides it being a paddle type switch. So if you let go, it will stop which I like and reduce possibility of accident. Some may say with a lock switch you don’t have to constantly hold it down, but I think for me I rather have it without the lock. 5) Has a hanging hook at the end of the handle that is recessed if not in use. The handle is also tapered for better grip. It is made in China, and the quality is pretty good. Nice features on this grinder. I wish the tool bag to be a bit better. Has a 5 year warranty. You don’t have to register, they determine it by the tool date code. Otherwise it also comes with a okay open mouth tool bag to store and carry your angle grinder. I just wish it was a bit more heavy duty, especially the handles of the bag, it just doesn’t feel sturdy enough. You also get a grinder wheel that is included with the tool. It is a grinding wheel for metal and stainless steel.

Great heavy duty angle grinder. I love the features like the brake, easy change, and paddle switch. For the power of the motor it has a relatively light weight and slim size. There is also an overload motor protector and electronic clutch. The startup is somehow “softened’ so it doesn’t jump in your hands as much. And there is a 5 year warranty. This is a quality product folks. You get what you pay for.

This is a very nice grinder. It’s the perfect size for small jobs. The power feels about twice that of my old grinder. The size and weight are great for those of us of smaller stature. The carrying bag is a nice plus, although with the handle attached you have to be careful how you orient the grinder in the bag to make it fit properly. But that bag makes it convenient to store additional accessories.

I selected the Milwaukee 4-1/2″ grinder for metal work around my shop. I typically grind, cut, wire brush and disc sand with my grinders. With my various grinding task I’ve come to appreciate the paddle handle trigger. The paddle design allows you to angle the grinder within your hand and keep contact with the power switch. It is also the safest way to work with a grinder versus the lock trigger type. I’ve had enough grinders get away from me and I’m thankful that when it happens I didn’t have a locked trigger.I have another brand of angle grinder that has the paddle switch, however, the paddle is somewhat short. Milwaukee designed this grinder with a longer paddle that allows me to choke up on my hand grip for better control of the grinding work. This grinder is plenty powerful handling grinding and wire brushing without flinching on torque and is very comfortable in hand with the smaller circumference of the tool handle. It is also very well balanced.I like the lanyard clip, a great feature when working on a ladder.Other pluses is the FIXTEC arbor nut; allows easy tooless changes of grinding wheels along with the nice size arbor lock button. I also like the tooless adjustable guard. That guard is very innovative of Milwaukee!!The safety release is OK, it’s just in an awkward location to me but I’m glad it’s there – paddle and trigger switches are too often accidentally pressed.Pluses:- great fit of handle in hand- tooless guard adjustment- tooless arbor nut (FIXTEC)- great paddle design- awesome power with soft start and rapid braking on release- love the awesome roomy tool bag! Plenty of room for all the grinding gearMinuses:- safety release needs to be easier reach – further up the paddleOverall, this is my favorite grinder – ever!

The fur and a half inch angle grinder seemed designed to fill in between the handle less four and a half inch grinders that I am used to using and a full-sized seven inch grinder. The extended handle makes controlling the grinder easier, but it is not quite as convenient to get into tighter places. The paddle switch is easy to use with bulky welding gloves but the safety switch took some getting used to. This is a functional unit and has power enough to do the work required of it.

As I have grown to expect from Milwaukee, this is a quality product. Well designed, well made, quality materials, all around solid performance. This was the first grinder I have ever used or owned and it took me quite some time to figure out how to unscrew the Fixtec nut and flange in order to install the guard. After viewing countless videos on popular Internet video sites, it wasn’t until I revisited the instructions carefully did I discover the statement ‘Press in the spindle lock button while turning the fixtect nut…’ This solved my problem. Once I read this the rest was smooth sailing, I was able to remove the Fixtec nut and flange and install the guard. The guard snaps into place in two different locations, so you can select that which best suits your need and project. The product comes with a grinding blade for metal and steel. I needed to cut some pavers so I purchased the very inexpensive AvantiPRO 4-1/2″ Diamond Turbo Blade from Home Depot as it is designed for masonry. The grinder features a paddle switch on the bottom of the base and that switch is protected by a switch lock-off mechanism. If you don’t first flip the locking mechanism, you can’t engage the paddle switch and run the grinder. This is an important safety feature.Regardless of the material you are grinding or sanding you must wear eye protection and if you are grinding pavers you should also wear a mask as it is very dusty. The side handle makes this a 2-handed tool which helps give you more accuracy in your cuts. The product comes with a heavy canvas bag for toting your grinder, bearing the Milwaukee brand red color.I am going to practice a lot on a number of spare bricks before I start cutting into pavers for my paver project this year. This angle grinder will really help me to size my pavers in a curved fashion.Overall very impressed with the design and performance of the grinder. I have never encountered a product from Milwaukee that did not impress me.

This MILWAUKEE 11 Amp 4-1/2” / 5” Braking Small Angle Grinder has many useful features and is a handsome, well-designed and quality product that should last the normal user a long time. The powerful tool is heavy (~6 lbs), hefty and appears built to take some abuse in the workplace or personal shop while offering power that can satisfy industrial users. The extended handle length, grip-circumference and reversible side-handle are designed to help this tool be more comfortable than the competition. The rapid stop feature is a nice safety feature. The Overload protection and electronic clutch will protect the tool. The cover-guard (burst resistant) can be adjusted without a tool. The paddle switch ( with safety feature ) with soft-start is appreciated. It would be a more versatile tool if it had the variable speed feature. The package includes a very nice carrying bag and a grinding wheel. This angle-grinder tools can also be used for sanding, buffing or other jobs with the appropriate accessories.Manufacturer reports :_ Tool delivers up to 3x more durability and up to 50% more power than the competition_ Lanyard-ready with integrated lanyard loop_ 100% tool-free design _ Adjustable Handle Position,_ No Tool Wheel Change_ Spindle Lock_ 5-year warranty
