This Milwaukee 8 in. Metal Cutting Circular Saw delivers faster, cooler, cleaner metal cutting. Forget the showers of hot metal chips and sparks that were once an aerial threat on the job. This saw shears with a virtually spark-free wake and cool, burr and scorch-free edges that don’t require post-cut finishing. Metal shavings are effectively contained with a durable magnesium blade shield and channeled into the saw’s integral chip tank. It makes tough cuts: up to 10-Gauge sheets and 1/4 in. steel plate cuts all day, every day. Even more extreme cuts, up to 3/4 in. steel plates, are possible. Specially formulated cermet tip metallurgy and tooth geometry ensure these incredible blades cut faster, stay sharp longer and resist more impact, resulting in less blade changes.
- Driven by a powerful, 15 amp (1-3/4 max HP), 3,700 RPM motor and equipped with a full grill of razor-sharp, cermet-tip teeth
- Durable blade shield with integral chip tank deflects/collects hot chips and sparks
- Plunge lever for fast, effective plunge cuts
- Exclusive quick-release shield latch for fast waste disposal and blade changes

We have 4 of these for everyday use in structural steel construction. Once the saw is engaged, it pretty much self feeds with little to no effort required to keep the cut straight. The saws have pulled off 5′ long cuts in 2-1/2″ thick mild steel plates – and continued to cut for a long time after. Works fine on grating, C channel and I beams. HSS tubes also no problem.

This saw cut 1/4 inch plate with ease. I had a 4×8 sheet I was cutting up to create a table and it took me about 15 minutes to make 3, 4ft cuts. 5 minutes of that was marking the plate and clamping on a guide. Perfect for long cuts on plate steel.

Out of the box I was cutting 3/4″ mild steel. Just let the saw do the work an just guide it. I made 23 cuts in a 4’x8’x3/4″ sheet, an blade still good to go an saw got warm, but never hot to where I had to reset it.

Wow that thing really can cut some steel. It is faster than my band saw and cuts cleaner.

Had some trepidation the saw could do as advertised. It is every bit, and more. It cuts through a 3″ channel iron like a circular saw through a 2X4!

I purchased the saw to cut Elfa steel cabinet frames, which The Container Store would not do. The saw performed flawlessly with no metal tear-outs.

I used the saw to cut some heavy duty channel.

This thing is awesome. I am using it to cut 10ga roll formed “C” sections. I do have to make 3 cuts because of the depth, but this is true with any saw. This is much safer and throws way fewer chips in my face than using a metal cutting blade on a regular circular saw.

First unit I received was broken in the box. I never was able to try it out. 2nd unit was received in good condition and it works very well. I used it to cut come 3/4″ plate and noticed the chip collector cover was smoking by the end of the cut and no swarf was visible. The swarf had built up and lodged inside the the cover and the paint was actually smoking from the heat on the backside. This saw cuts very well so far! It is not available in the stores, online only, which is a downfall if the unit fails. You will have to send it back and wait for a replacement.

The grueling days of cutting corrugated when needed is over. I stacked up 11 sheets and this saw cut through them effortlessly. Great product. Effective & Efficient all around. Great buy.

This is a high quality metal cutting saw at a reasonable price. It cuts smoothly and is no louder that a wood cutting saw when cutting 16 gauge material. The built-in metal shavings collector reduces the chance of personal injury and keeps a cleaner workspace.

I have worked at 2 employers who own one of these saws. The first on in 2004 and the literature claimed “1inch max capacity” which we were doing, amazingly. my current employer has one but it’s literature says 3/4″ max. I have never had any problems with this saw but others in the company do not understand how important it is to support the drop pieces and destroy brand new blades by pinching the blade and knocking the carbides off. Sad, really because the should last a long time when properly used (plus the blades are over $50 to replace!)

Great saw. Can only purchase on line is the only drawback. As with any tool sometimes there is a defect. Ordered saw, delivered, it ran about 2 hours and shaft bearing burned out. Job started and its imperative to keep going. Looked up Milwaukee service center. Its in Houston so i go. They can’t help but send me to distributor. They say 2 weeks for repair or buy another for $60.00 more than you pay thru Home Depot. Great tool, bad experence with Milwaukee.
