This Milwaukee 8 in. Metal Cutting Circular Saw delivers faster, cooler, cleaner metal cutting. Forget the showers of hot metal chips and sparks that were once an aerial threat on the job. This saw shears with a virtually spark-free wake and cool, burr and scorch-free edges that don’t require post-cut finishing. Metal shavings are effectively contained with a durable magnesium blade shield and channeled into the saw’s integral chip tank. It makes tough cuts: up to 10-Gauge sheets and 1/4 in. steel plate cuts all day, every day. Even more extreme cuts, up to 3/4 in. steel plates, are possible. Specially formulated cermet tip metallurgy and tooth geometry ensure these incredible blades cut faster, stay sharp longer and resist more impact, resulting in less blade changes.

This saw is an absolute beast! It has changed how I will cut metal forever. It’s big, but completely manageable. Makes precision cuts and leaves the edges ready to butt up and tack in place. No cleaning slag, no grinding smooth, just cut and weld.I expected the saw would perform okay, but straight out of the box, I was cutting 1/4″ and 1/2″ plate like a circular saw through plywood. Since then, square tube, round pipe, angle iron, whatever, it cuts like a dream. Nothing I’ve thrown at it has even been a challenge for it.And the 15′ cord is awesome. Many times I rarely need an extension cord. I plug it into my welder and usually have plenty of room to do what I need.If you are a metal fabricator, you will love this saw. It will pay for itself in no time and you’re only regret will be not having had this saw from the first time you cut a piece of metal.

Works great. Very accurate.60″cut on 1/4” steel is within 1/32”,using angle iron as a guide! I’m sold. Don’t run too hot, the blade will warp, teeth pop off, and will wander off track. Empty metal often. The cover is what collects heat. I Set in front of fan opened up to cool in-between long cuts.

We were cutting out a Stainless Steel Smokehouse that measured 20ft long by 16ft wide by 20ft high. There was insulation and steel beams that were rusty inside the stainless steel walls. This thing is an absolute beast. It cut through stainless steel like butter. We cut through 3/16″ diamond plate stainless just as quick as our plasma cutter. The only thing is blades were quick if doing a lot of cutting in a row. This saw saved us so much time though cutting in places where we couldn’t use a plasma cutter. Overall I am pleased with the saw and I have found myself reaching for it more and more because the cut is so clean there is no clean up when compared to a plasma cutter.

I bought it because I supply some hardened metals to the mining industry and I didn’t want to lose a sale because some customer didn’t have a plasma cutter to cut my plate. I found that I could easily cut 1/4″ mild steel with a 70-72 Rc hard chrome coating on one side of the plate – and it left a nice smooth cut finish. Could also cut the same plate product but with a 1/4″ thick through-hardened AR400 steel back – although at a reduced cutting rate. The tool manual doesn’t advise this but I tried it because a customer said he could even cut AR500 w/ his cold-cutting saw, and I had good results with the 400 plate. I found that a deeper blade setting combined with a kind of “plunge-type action” worked much better on the hardened plate than the shallow 1/4″ deep-er setting that the manual recommends. I thought it might damage or destroy the blade but it worked very well. I don’t know what my eventual blade life will be but so far, it cuts the materials that I bought it for and I am very satisfied.

The saw does a wonderful job of cutting 1/4″ aluminum! My only discontent is the chip catcher; it really did not catch much, compared to the amount scattered on the floor… But I would definitely recommend this saw on the merit of it’s primary function. It cuts very well, even if it is a bit messy!
