Milwaukee’s 8-1/4 in. Panel Saw is an ideal tool for lumber yards with its quick and easy solution to cutting up to 4 ft. x 8 ft. sections of sheet goods to size. This unique saw has a cutting accuracy to within plus or minus 1/32 of an inch and a material thickness capacity of up to 1-3/4 in. The saw also features an innovative horizontal handle for convenient on/off saw operation as well as a 20 Amp, commercial-grade paddle switch for long life. The 6480-20’s frame is made from tough, electrically welded steel to ensure it won’t warp or twist. The powerful 15 Amp motor is mounted on a carriage that moves horizontally with minimal effort on graphite-impregnated nylon roller bearings which require no lubrication. The saw can also be turned 90 and fixed to make vertical cuts. Horizontal and vertical scales provide quick and accurate cuts. The material being cut can be loaded from either the left or right side and gently rolls through the saw on a smooth acting roller mechanism. The Panel Saw is not recommended for ripping panels larger than 4 ft. x 8 ft. The extension kit accessory, 49-22-8108, is recommended for cutting sheet goods over 6 ft. L.

Works as advertised. Saw is powerful enough to cut multiple layers of plywood. The frame is very sturdy aluminum. We thought the hold down and the bed extension should have come with the product and it cost and added 200 dollars. The wheel kit we added as well.

Great saw, very sturdy machine lots of power. Not sure why the panel extensions are not included??? Most cuts are 4×8 sheets and you need the extensions to safely make horizontal cuts. Also, buy the wheel assembly makes rolling it out of the way very easy! Next I’m going to purchase the vacuum hose attachment, the machine can create a lot of saw dust.

This is the second one I purchased. The tool needs a lot of wok to calibrate. The saw plate bolt hits the back plate and you will need to correctt that. It is a manufacturing error. Not a deal breaker but annoying. For the money it is a good tool just takes more wok to set up than you might expect

Working with wood, HDPE, corrugated plastics, you name it and this beast will chew through it. Safer and faster than our table saw (which now generally acts as simply a table since we have also gotten the portable table saw from you guys) it has quickly become the go to for precise cuts and quick cleanup with the shop vac attachment.

Saw was pretty much assembled when picked up. Works great. Easier to use than a table saw.

Bought this saw last year and it’s great. Easy to get running after delivery, and very accurate. I did buy the extension arms and wheels just as a convenience but it’s perfect as is.

I am a woman who owns and operates a sign shop by myself.I wanted a saw that was safe, easy to use and had decent accuracy. I cut a variety of materials…. wood, plastics, metal composites, foams, etc, and this saw has never let me down. It was easy to assemble and I get within 1/16″ of accuracy with this saw until I start cutting pieces smaller than 10″ x 10″ then it’s off a bit more, however, I have never tried to fine tune for better because I usually cut small pieces on my router.I have owned this saw for a year so far and no issues.Price was great too. A comparable panel saw brand that is commonly used in the sign industry would have cost me an additional $1000.Highly recommended..

I have owned 3 of these and currently own one with all the attachments. I also own job site table saws, cabinet table saws, hand operated circular saws…..but the Milwaukee panel saw is the tool I cant be with out. This is my main cutting tool for large goods and I use it for everything from wood, plastic, PVC, foam, 48″X96″ sheets to 2″X4″s, deck planks, etc. currently using it with the red rollers on the inside and white high impact rollers on the out side. the flaw in this tool is the roller system which is hard to calibrate so that all the rollers are straight and in line. I have tried everything from 12ft angle iron to laser sighting to line up these rollers. Im at the point where I wish they were not adjustable and came perfectly aligned from the factory. when I need to make accurate cuts…i remove the rollers and install straight square stock tubing on each side of the blade. this allows perfectly straight cutting. with the rollers…the shorter the wood..the less wheels it rolls on…the accuracy falls. this is a great tool other wise and takes up little floor space. I use the mid fence kit a lot and the sliding stop. I have extensions on both and it really helps with large 48X96 sheets or long wood stock. this tool is worth every penny and will pay for itself with the time it saves to.

This was purchased to use on a large job we just recently completed. With the exception of needing to install the appropriate blade according to what type of material we were cutting, the saw worked flawlessly and without any problems. It is in our shop and will be used on upcoming projects.

The saw itself is very cool, and is great for our school theatre department. My MS and HS kids use it, and it is more safe to me even than the sawstop we have. We cut a lot of plywood and Luan, so it made total sense. Setup of the actual saw itself was pretty easy. A couple of sections were a little confusing, even to me, but we figured it out. One Con of the saw setup is that at least on ours, the tape measures/guides were off and it took us a while to configure it so that it was right. There was also a minor struggle putting the cord holder in the top bars, you will need a couple of vise grips or large channel locks. We got the bottom extension wings, and those were really worth it. We also got the dust collection kit, and wheels, and I would recommend getting these accessories through CPOMilwaukee.com, they were great and by far the most competitive. I only mention this because Home Depot couldn’t order any of the accessories, which I found very odd, especially since the Milwaukee corp is only 15 minutes from my store. Oh well :-)All in all, a great tool, portable, and easy to use once setup right. Hope this helps anyone looking at it. Don’t think, just buy it! 🙂

I’m a cabinet maker who has worked in shops with 50K panel saws. When I lost my job in Jan, 2008 I started my own shop. Tool cost was an issue. The Milwaukee saw takes some practice to use accurately but sheet goods can be cut a tad over size and cut to size on the table saw for precision. It’s half the price of a Safety Speed Cut Saw and a very good value. When my shop is ready, I’ll buy a better saw… and keep the Milwaukee to cut P – lam on….
