I was sick of being frustrated by trying to use a 48 inch level to true up something that was twice that length. This 72 inch level made that a much easier task. It feels solidly built, sits nicely on your work, and has very easy to read sight bubbles. The magnet on one side makes leveling steel much easier. The magnet is strong, but takes very little effort to remove. This is a fine tool.

The vials on these new Milwaukee REDSTICK magnetic box levels are insanely easy to read from any angle. The magnets are very very strong. I have them hanging on the inside roof of my work van and they hold with no issues. They have some weight compared to the blue brand that Home Depot sells, but its not anything extreme. The do feel substantially stronger than any other levels that I have owned or used. Once I did not get the magnet against metal and the level fell from the inside roof of my work van to the inside floor, and the only damage was a bit of the red paint chipped off. A 4 foot fall and that was all that happened, I checked level against my other redstick and my blue brands and the vials were reading the same. See pictures below for view-ability. I will admit, compared to the blue brand, these are very pricey, but I think they are worth it!

Having my own construction business, rather than state the specs that are already stated in the advertisement, what better way to test this 59 inch Milwaukee box level than to let my guys test it over a period of two weeks? Their final resulting analysis ranged from very good to excellent. Two of the guys thought it too heavy (and both of them are big strapping men) The other six said it was good to hold and did not find it was too heavy (and not one of these guys weighs over 180 Lbs….go figure) All of them agreed that this box level is so accurate as to put their own levels to shame as none of them have a unique tolerance of 5000th of an inch per inch of the item being tested. Having the three USA made vials made this level super easy to use and be confident and having the 3 times magnification on each vial’s, made for easy reading. As well as being accurate, all agreed that it is very easy and safe to hold on to while in use (yep, even the big muscular guys that say it’s too heavy) It is a very durable level and just as well as these guys are not known to me as anything but a `little careless` at times with using tools. However, after 10 working days, other than a few small scratches and dusty, the box level is as good as new.I am so impressed with this, that I have bought another two to use on the working site. Do I recommend this? Absolutely.

As a plumber I always need accurate and heavy duty tools. This 2′ magnetic level was perfect for my needs. I used it most recently on a double laundry tub installation. The heavy weight and substantial “feel” of the level helped it stay in place while I adjusted the legs underneath the tub. I didn’t need the magnetic function for this job but it tested it on some nearby ductwork and it held quite well. The vials are nice and large so they’re easy to read even with the lousy lighting I was working with. I’ve been very pleased with all of my Milwaukee levels so far and count them as my favorites.

Ok, I did not understand what my older brother, an architect and former builder, was telling me when he said to get a magnetic level for my deck and DIY projects. I have this now and love it! It is rock solid among the best that I have ever seen compared to what you find in the store shelves. This has already been accidentally dropped and not a scratch or break in the level bubble. It is more than accurate to hang large mirrors as well as wood work. I liked it so much I ordered more of my new brand Milwaukee levels in 30″ and torpedo. I highly recommend this to everyone from DIY to professional builder. Love it and look forward to many more uses over my lifetime with it!

My new 36″ box level is the best quality I have ever owned. The level has magnets built in to hold it up to steel surfaces without having to hold it. The level has three easy to read vials, with the top one being able to be viewed from three sides. There’s a hole to store the level when not in use (hanging it up). The finish is a beautiful red crinkle coat. There’s also rubber ends to protect it in case it falls. The material it’s made of is aluminum. It’s twist resistant and it shows no sign of flexing. The quality and durability are exceptional. This is a lifetime level! I highly recommend it.

This is a high quality, very strong 8 ft level. It resists twisting and flexing in the middle exceptionally well considering its 8 foot span. When placed on the same surface next to my trusty DeWalt 4 foot level, it is spot on (I realize this is far from scientific, but gives me piece of mind since I believe the 4ft level I’ve been using for years to be very accurate). My first project with this level will be installing fence panels along my property line. It will be very easy to use a level that can span the entire distance of a panel to make sure everything is level and plumb. Milwaukee hit another one out of the park with this level!

Great long level. It is an actual 8′ level. I have a hard time standing it straight up inside in some locations. This is a great layout tool. I have used this for cabinet installation, as well as floor leveling. Compared to my machinist level, it is exceptionally accurate. It is not spot on to 0.001 degrees, but that is completely unnecessary for 99% of all applications. It is more than adequate for anything most tradesmen would do.The dial is very large, and this is a great feature. Makes it easier to read and adjust as you struggle to support the whole level hanging 8′ out from you. The edge is flycut to about a 63 microinch finish, as shown in picture. While I do not own a surface finish profilometer, my comparison gage shows it at about 63. Feels about right as well. Given the overall goals of these Milwaukee levels, I would have liked to see a finer finish, at least a 32 microinch finish. All things considered, it is a well made level that is ready to go out of the box. Great for large layouts, and when a laser isnt appropriate. Great to have around, but remember, it is a true 8′ level. It can be difficult to transport!

Another fantastic Milwaukee product. I recently bought a 4 foot level, which I thought was a pretty good one. I won’t mention the brand other that it”s the blue one. Now don’t get me wrong the blue ones are good levels too. But when I received the Milwaukee level, there’s no comparison. This is heavy duty thick nicely honed edges. The bubbles are big and easy to see. The magnet is strong. Just a great level that will out live me. Highly recommended.

This level is high quality, easily readable, and appears it can take a beating. As far as traditional levels go, this is them perfected. At this price range, digital levels that do some very useful calculations are available though durability does take a hit. Under a controlled environment where it won’t get much abuse, digital levels provide very useful feedback like how many millimeters per meter the box level is angled. Obviously that is overkill for a lot of a jobs and I’d never toss one in a pile of rocks so traditional levels do still have their place.

I placed this on the ground and was shocked to find the earth was flat. Like all milwaukee tools this exceded my expectations. Its enlarged bubble makes for easy reading.

I use box levels regularly and the 48 inch one is probably used the most. After doing some research, I decided to obtain the new Milwaukee 48 in. Redstick Magnetic Box Level. The first thing noticeable with this box level is the good balance, ergonomic hand grips, and easy-to-read bubble vials. It’s an all metal (aluminum) backbone, so there’s no weak plastic parts. It also has strong magnets that hold the level firmly on a metal surface without support. After using the Milwaukee 48 in. Magnetic Redstick Level for several weeks I am very impressed with it’s quality, accuracy and ease of use.The vials on the Milwaukee 48 in. Magnetic Redstick Level are amplified 2x for increased visibility and have acrylic protective surfaces for easy cleaning. The level is milled to 0.029 degrees accuracy and comes with a lifetime warranty. Highly recommended for contractors or anyone needing a high quality box level.

The milwaukee 59 inch redstick magnetic box level is a top of the line level. It is costly, but well worth the extra money. I have many levels for my work and love quality tools. This level has very strong earth magnets to hold strong. The level has a all-metal back bone that gives it weight and a nice feel. I found the 59 in. length to be helpful over a 48 in. level in some cases. It is a very solid level.

Make no mistake – this is a FANTASTIC level. It’s highly accurate, rugged, comfortable to use, easy to read, and beautiful to look at. Like other Milwaukee tools I’m sure it will stand up to incredible abuse if needed – and it carries the lifetime accuracy warranty. The rare-earth magnets on one side are strong enough to hold the level in any position on a metal surface, even upside down. The edges are square and crisp, so there is no problem drawing pencil lines across the face to mark level or plumb. From my perspective there is nothing to improve and nothing to dislike, except possibly the price. There are other highly-rated levels on the market with the same stated accuracy, selling for ¼ the price, so it’s hard to justify paying this much for even a Milwaukee level unless you work under extreme conditions. Still, if you have the money and need the rugged reliability of a Milwaukee tool this level can’t be beat.

This level is great for any size product. It reads very accurately and is a great size and weight, making it easy to haul up and down the ladder. It can take abuse on a job site without really getting damaged, so it’s very durable and high quality. I dropped many times from the top of the ladder, and it’s still perfectly accurate with barely a scratch. I can’t praise these levels enough. Milwaukee definitely takes pride in their products.
