Works great for long screws. I needed this for driving long screws, one handed, above my head for garage shelving… while holding the item to be fastened in the other hand. There is no way I could accomplish the same task without a screw guide like this. First, being able to hold the long screw in place without it falling, and knowing each time the screw would not be overdriven. This is a high quality item made in the USA.

I used for a decking project, and so was subjected to force pressure constantly. The contact tip eventually will recede / the center tube will protrude out. When this happens you will over set the screw(s), so keep an eye on it. The first failed at nearly 2 boxes driven, the second at just over 1 box. With a little no how (and JB Weld) this can be overcome, but is time consuming. Overall the tool has potential to go the distance, but will need engineering of how the contact tip is held in place. The metal used in the tubes construction seems to be semi-soft, and so is an eventual throw away tool anyway. I repaired my 2 as noted once (on 460 sq. ft)., and they are back in the tool bin (after one more learned repair) for next time!

Product works great but only for about 50 or so sheet rock screws. The plastic stop collapses defeating the depth stop

This device does the job as advertised. I bought it to install my decking and it did an excellent job of leveling the deck screws with the surface of the deck. I would welcome an improvement for the screw guide to accept a longer shank drill bit, as many screw packages come with a two inch bit. The guide could accommodate such a length by increasing the length of the adjusting threads. Though the depth stop seems to be flexible and subject to wear, it proved to be very durable and its flexibility prevented it from leaving any marks on the deck surface.

This is the VERY BEST adjustable stop that I have ever used. In the past, I have used several different name brands but this Montana tool outshines them all. The most important thing that you will greatly appreciate is that it is pretty much ALL METAL. Most of the other brands have a plastic stop which wears out and / or cracks to become useless. The stop is easily adjustable. great product. They should carry it in the store instead of other brands.
