These work good in hardwood, but do not work in pine.

Works as expected creating very good plugs. Tends to bind after getting 1/2” deep.

I’m using the 3/8″ one at the moment and it works very well. Using it to make plugs for redwood benches. I couldn’t get the 5/16″ cutter to work – the plug kept breaking off. Haven’t tried the 1/2″ version yet.

With the closest drill press 200 ft away at my brotherinlaws, I decided these plug cutters were just what I needed. They requier nothing more than a clamp, or foot to hold the piece of wood to cut the plug out of and a hand drill and away you go cutting all the plugs you’ll ever need. This tool is so easy to use that instructions are a waste of time, just place the bit in the drill, lower it to the piece of scrap wood, placing the tip of the guide point on the wood. Then start the drill and then press strait down causing the cutting piece of the bit to start cutting, just as soon as it reaches bottom it stops cutting rais the drill and your ready to pop out your plug with a screwdriver. Don’t over cut or try to keep cutting once you’ve reached bottom, as you will brake the plug off in the bit and have to pry it out prior to continuing cutting more plugs. I did this once or twice before getting the hang of knowing just when to stop. Your plugs come out tapered so that they are easy to place in your hole and wedge in tightly. Now that I am making larger pieces that need hidden scews plugged this plug cutter will become one of my most used tools not to mention one of my favorite tools.

Worked as advertised.

The plug cutter is well made, and the spring loaded centering point works really well. The only negative I have encountered is the sharpness of the cutter blade it could be sharper, otherwise I would have given a five star rating.

Excellent product… I had designed this in my mind for some time now. I’m glad someone finally manufactured it! 😉
