With support for data transfer rates of up to 3.8 Gbps, the MB8600 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem from Motorola is capable of supporting a variety of bandwidth-intensive tasks such as online gaming, streaming multimedia content and more. Additionally, this Motorola modem supports the DOCSIS 3.1 cable standard along with Active Queue Management (AQM), which is designed to reduce network congestion and speed up online tasks such as page loads, gaming, video conferencing, and more. Setup is easy, and with built-in lightning and power-surge circuits, you have additional protection against power spikes which can harm your modem.
On the back of the MB8600 you will a single Gigabit Ethernet port making it easy to connect this modem to a router, computer, or other Ethernet enabled device. There are also three additional Ethernet ports that are hidden by a yellow cover. These three Ethernet ports are not for connecting multiple devices. The three masked Ethernet ports are for connecting to a router that can bond more than one Ethernet port to achieve speeds up to 1 Gb/s when supported by your cable service.

I got the same email many other users have saying my old docsis 3.0 modem was obsolete with my newly updated Comcast service. I have been using A zoom telephonics modem for the last Id say 5 years. Its been working great hardly ever have to Power cycle it except for when Comcast works on the lines. However I wasnt getting the throughput of the new 250 Meg service I was only getting about a 190 but thats also because my old modem was limited to 196 Meg download. The new Motorola came in today and was up and running within 20 minutes of getting out of the Box. Directions from both Comcast and Motorola were very straightforward and easy to follow. The new modem is reliably connecting at and giving me 300 Meg downloads streaming is absolutely no problem with 6 devices in the house going at once. I couldnt be happier. I have a friend that is still leasing his modem on 60 Meg service who will be getting my old zoom modem to help him cut down some of his costs.

Great modem. Easy installation and configuring with Xfinity. Shopping at B&H was a snap. Kudos to their well designed website.

Decided to swap my old modem out and bought this one after some research. Installed it without any issues and activated the service. Has been running great, stable, and no interruptions. Speed is what it should be. So it does what it is supposed to do.

Installation is not accomplished by following the included instructions nor by following the instructions on the Xfinity website. Once you can finally get some tech support at Xfinity on the phone you will get the help you need to install. Then, the device works very well. Switching from an older Arris to this modem immediately increased my speed – upload and download. So far it’s been great. It needs a wireless router added for wireless access in your home. There are many good choices of wireless routers. My opinion is that this is a very good product but installation is not as simple as it is said to be. You must get your provider on the phone for installation help.

-Speed was fast, consistent, and reliable. -It comes with 4 Ethernet RJ45 Ports -Comes with 32×8 Channel Bonding -LED Activity Indicators -Physical dimension was tall, but also had ventilated holes to ensure the modem stays cool for long period of time -Supports ISP such as Xfinity Comcast, Cox, etc. Other thoughts: If you are planning to upgrade with 1Gbps Internet Plan with either Xfinity Comcast or Cox, I recommend Motorola MB8600 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem. When I ran Speedtest website, I got 949Mbps Downstream while 45.1 Mbps Upstream. Yes, speed varies depending on distance and location.

I have been using ISP provided cable modem for Gigabit service at home for last 1+ year. I just purchased and installed this modem. My download speed immediately jumped from 600~700 Mbps range to 900+ and ping dropped from 18-24 ms range to around 7 ms.

No hassles setting up. Be sure to use the Comcast app to authorize it and spare yourself the Comcast help system.

XFinity Blast! 300 Mbps Very unhappy with modem/router Netgear C7000v2, I was not able to get more speed that around 100, but most of the time much less than that, sometimes barely moving. Possibly setup issue. Replaced with Motorola MB8600 & Asus RT-AC86U. Out of the box great improvement, speed test results (various sites) over my limit.

This modem replaced the Spectrum issued modem and WIFI router combination. It is faster to start and connect. I am getting the same throughput on speed test.net that I was with the Spectrum modem. I have always gotten 20 Mbps over my plan bandwidth. However, with the motorola modem, ping time seems lower leading to quicker responses to clicking links and sooner starts to file downloads.

My Internet package is only 15 megabits per second downstream and 2 upstream when it is working properly. Probably due to the heavily-loaded Cox circuits, my downstream speed would often slow to dial-up speeds in the afternoon and evening when I used my DOCSIS 3.0 modem, which had only four bonded downstream channels. This Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 modem appears at first blush to be overkill for my modest internet package, but with its 32 downstream channels, even at the worst, my downstream speed seldom now drops below 6 megabits per second. There are enough channels to compensate for many of the problems with my Cox connection. I shouldn’t have needed to upgrade, but because Cox is the only internet provider in my neighborhood, I had to either find a way to work around the Cox connection problems or forgo an internet connection altogether. If you want very high-speed internet, a DOSCIS 3.1 modem such as this one is essential, but even at lower speeds, a good DOSCIS 3.1 modem can go a long way to compensate for poor service from a dodgy service provider like Cox.

I upgraded my Xfinity service from Double Play to Triple Play to take advantage of the Premium channels and high speed internet (but not using the voice) and it works beautifully.

Upgraded my modem in a matter of minutes by contacting Xfinity support and having them update their systems with my new modem’s MAC address. Modem synched quickly with bonded channels, which greatly increased my speed. Easy to install and immediate results!

Replaced an Arris 16X4 as Comcast could not get the unit to leave the default/boot settings which limited the connection speed drastically. Arris gave a few suggestions but to no avail and left it to Comcast (or me) to figure out. This unit was provisioned online and now getting the full 480 Mbps download as promised. Also has an on/off switch so no need to unplug and plug the power to reset it. Highly recommend this unit.

After thoroughly reviewing 3.1 DOCSIS modems, I chose Motorola MB8600. It has more than met my expectations. Smooth operator that will meet my needs for future-proofing my home wifi.

I received a notice from Comcast that I needed to upgrade my Modem. They gave me four brands (with model #) that they recommended. In 2013 I had purchased a Motorola SB6121 and was happy with it so I purchased Motorola again. The SB6121 gave me good service and I hope this model does also. Sure beats getting one from Comcast and paying a monthly ‘rental’ fee forever.
